Peggy- agreed. We are wasting our time with the Americans. Our only real hope is the Chinese. They have their own irredentist problems, but could through back channels tel the Americans to leave N. kosovo alone, or else.

You are joking? You’re comparing the US and Serbia. Who downgraded the US? It’s was one of their own rating agencies and that was after some very intense deliberation. For this to happen then the situation must be very bad.
The US rating in Asia is anywhere from AAA- to BBB- depending on which country has the most invested in US bonds. In fact the true rating is closer to BBB-.
China was supposed to diversify its US investment by March 2011, but it decided to wait until now. So by the end of this year or by January 2012 the vast majority of its investment in US bonds will be in other assets.
You will have a debt of 17+ trillion by December 2012 a continuing Depression and you think the US is in a good position – wait till they have to reduce spending and when that happens it will be on a massive scale.

Dude, you missed the point. For all your talking above, investors were fighting to lend the money to the "BBB-" US government at record low interest rates, because relatively speaking the treasuries are the safest liquid investment in the world, regardless of their rating.

Treasuries yields are, on average, about 0.70% lower than the rest of the world’s sovereign debt (according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch indexes). And that has expanded from 0.15 % in January.

"Even with the slight downgrade, the USA still has a higher rating than any of the BRIC countries as well as most others in the world. BTW, what is Serbia's debt rating!"

BTW, what's "Kosova's" rating?

Who cares if the US blames Serbia for this or anything else. Why the Hell is that important?
Mr Defense Minister, go and find out what our friends think not what the US thinks.
We know that the US thinks already and that's not good for Serbia so go and do your job and make nice with our friends. We need them.

That's because they are bankrupt. Today they have been downgraded and Russia, India, China have been making fun of their financial situation. Bye Bye Kosova Hello Kosovo.
(miles, 6 August 2011 13:18)
Funny how Serbs seem to think that a little international criticism has finished the US. Note that even though the rhetoric is there, none have said they will discontinue to invest in the US. But I can understand how when you have been down and out for so many centuries, you get a little cheer out of seeing the big guys take a hit. If you think financial issues on a global scale is going to benefit Serbs or your situation any at all you are very foolish. Serbia survives on countries like the US, Japan, the EU opening their pocketbooks and giving it borrowed money.

Šutanovac has been called back to base for reprogramming for his next mission to take to Serbia. He also looks like he has put on weight recently. Too many big dinners with fat fascist bureacrats who tell him what they want him to do no doubt.

A small step in the right direction. Serbs should always ask U.S. approval even where and when to go to the toilet. And appoint Robert Leonard Rope to be the human rights and family minister of the country.

Шутановац? "НАТО-вский шут" ("NATO's clown") indeed.
