Two little Braincells, enlighten me what did Serbia win?
Using my Three little Braincells I evaluate the achievements looking at three points: the beginning, present and the end point (where I was, where I am and where do I want to be).
Looking at the beginning point I see Serbs controlling both border points with no distraction whatsoever. I see 33Ton Lorries entering and leaving these border points as they wish. I don’t see any Kosovo police nor do I see Kosovo Border control.
Looking at the present point (where we are now) I don’t see Serbian police in these points.
I see only 3.5Ton Lorries in horizon (this might drop even further).
And finally I see that this time next month (where do we want to be) these points will be under full control of Kosovo police.
Or, is this another victory of yours (just like the battle of Kosovo, War in Croatia, War in Bosnia and 1999 War in Kosovo) that you will celebrate.

"This is all hot air. I read about what is one of the "deals" reached. The compromise would entail Kosovo policemen to be seconded by representatives of the Serb minority. In return, the Serb-made road blocks would have to be dismantled. How is this a victory for Serbia? This is exactly what Pristina wanted."

Pristina wanted Belgrade to accept their customs stamps. Pristina wanted to stop serbian goods from entering 'Kosova'. Where in this 'deal' does it say that this will happen? Really, you must be Olympic champion for grasping at straws...

"That is a good news. Tension is easing away, its a shame is a military intervention to calm the situation. Politicians who started this mess, Albanians and Serbs walk away with smiles waving their hands as victorious. Idiots."
(n n zeka, 4 August 2011 09:34)

It's indeed good news, but not a real solution. And yes, it's a shame that KFOR was needed at all, they wanted to reduce the troops, and now they will rise the number. I blame the violent Serbs for that who set the checkpoint on fire. But no, the Albanian politician who started this mess (=Thaci) already came up with 'no, this compromise is not acceptable'. Not really a smiling face. An idiot, I agree.

"Some one mentioned that for Serbian politicians this part of Kosovo is a good political carrier in Belgrade. Well it is also a good political carrier for some Albanian politicians in Prishtina too. But crime and poverty flourishes in this town of Mitrovica."
(n n zeka, 4 August 2011 09:34)

There are politicians on both sides who benefit from the situation: They can play the nationalist card and draw away the attention from the real everyday problems. Crime and poverty flourishes all around Kosovo, not only in Mitrovica. Maybe it's better covered in Pristina, the money laundry area, where a lot of new houses are build - but everybody knows where this money is coming from.

I don't know how many Serbs, Albanians or any nationality would die or want to raise a family in Mitrovica. Had this people had a choice they would run away from there. There are some 100 thousand Serb and Roma refuges from Kosovo, currently living in Serbia. If they really wanted to come and live in Mitrovica they would done it long time ago. The've chosen not to, because not only in Mitrovica but in any Serb settlements in Kosovo there is no future, just poverty. Belgrade governments let them down in 70's, 80's and 90's. Prishtina governments in past 12 years didn't see them as citizens of Kosovo.

I think both Albanians and Serbs are tired of this non-sense political tik for tak solutions. Lawmakers in Government of Kosovo and that of Serbia should be under a huge pressure to resolve the situation.

I think ,at the moment this is the best solution for everybody ! Serbs can have food and medical delivery,Albanians can have excuse,,we can't go there becouse of KFOR,, .But the most important its ROSU is not in this storry. And everything will be o.k .i hope so...

If KFOR bows to the demands of Belgrade than it goes to show that Prishtina's democratic means of governing is pointless and the Kosovo government might liquidate and the hooligans in the rest of Kosovo can 'diplomatically' solve problems with the hooligans of Mitrovica. This is a recipe for disaster.
KFOR should negotiate with Prishtina not Belgrade.

KFOR, at least, yielded on the humanitarian aid to enter Kosovo from Serbia. Apparently, KFOR cares more about the life of Kosovo Serbs than Serbia.

You still haven't shown the power of attorney that EU and the majority of the world gave to you to speak on their behalf. If no power of attorney is needed, then I can say congratulations to Kosovo from the EU and majority of the universe :)

Let's see the results of this agreement of KFOR-Serbia:

1) Kosovo will continue with its reciprocal trade ("embargo")
2) KFOR instead of non-MIK will search all passers of weapons
3) International awareness of the hotspot of criminality in northern part of Kosovo which is coordinated by Belgrade

Thanks,

Matthew Pitre

It will be victory and justice for Serbs if KFOR and EULEX live up to their word and allow Serbian goods to enter north Kosovo. There should also be no having to pay customs on the goods since in the minds of some NATO and EU members, it is all still Serbian soil. We will see in the next couple of days whether this agreement is actually implemented or whether the Serbs will be forced to return to the barricades.

In return, the Serb-made road blocks would have to be dismantled. How is this a victory for Serbia? This is exactly what Pristina wanted. I also think that this is fair. The issue of the borders is untouched though. They will remain closed for the embargo until Pristina agree's to whatever deal is acceptable to them. Its amazing how excited people get by reading what one single news source says. Do you research and find out the truth. Keep smiling Stefanovic as you warm up that megaphone!
