Maybe the Countryman didn't know, but Dell nearly certainly did. Having served in Kosovo already in the early 2000s Dell is a typical diplomat who has gone "native" and puts the interests of his guest land above those of the US. It is an incomprehensible decision that he was reappointed to Kosovo by the Obama administration. It looks like a symptom of mrs. Clinton's Ewig Gestern policy that seems incapable of adapting to changing circumstances in the world.

Bravo USA! They want your best that's why you need to take USA's advice about EU. The German troops are here to ensure multi-ethnicity and control of borders.

Looks like Tadic badly miscalculated when he pushed the "negotiation" for September. The border points are shut tight now with Iraq like security.
(ERTYU, 3 August 2011 10:17)

Iraq-like security???? You must live in a cocoon with no contact with the outside world. Last week the US lost 17 soldiers in Iraq and there is no US soldier outside the compounds after 4pm in Iraq, and you think that the border points in Kosovo are closed tight? The so called administrative border is so porous that you could bring in herds of elephants without being stopped.

The clown who opened his mouth about taking care because EU entry could be on the line is a joke. Tadic’s time has come and gone and he knows it so the US buffoon can talk to the wind if he likes.

The Serbian people are now well aware that all of the past actions to gain entry to fairyland EU was leading them up the proverbial garden path with no result. All of the so called war criminals handed over; what has Tadic got? NOTHING AT ALL.

The only people that don’t realise that the Serbs have woken up to this ruse is the United States – they tend to be extremely stupid. Oh how is Libya going; I hear not to well for the leader of the free world.

“We were not informed nor did we approve this approach,” Countryman told B92.

“The Kosovo government is capable of making both smart and rash moves by itself,” he added"

Oh no!!!!! Its finally happened! I never thought the day would come when I actually am inclined to agree with a Yankee politician!!!! What's the world coming to???? :)

This government is formed by a bunch of silly goons. It reminds me of the time when the US/West promised Serbia €1.5 billion in aid for handing over Milosevic to the Hague. Kostunica rejected this idea while seeking to try him on Serbian soil while Djindjic fell for it. After the handover of Milosevic they put another condition on Serbia for Serbs to participate in elections organised by Pristina. When that failed no money was handed over and Djindjic was assassinated with rumours stating it was the US themselves that did it.

Same thing again, hand over Mladic and your EU path will be open. Well, not quite so. Now the condition is to hand over the administrative border. Lets see what these sell-outs do. Kostunica once again has the correct policy towards KiM. Resolve that problem first and then we can talk EU membership.

These are quite some serious threats this man is making. Which does not mean that they should be taken serious though. As mentioned in another comment, the statements of this guy might be rather the result of feeling cornered than having a proper backing. Given the track record of this man, this should neither come as a real surprise. And lets face it, would you expect any better from a guy who has worked 27 years as military industry's diplomat. I can only guess how dirty this man's hands must be by now. He might be called a politician, but to my standards he's first and foremost a politically sanctioned arms dealer.

Back on topic though, it's nice that he says: “EULEX and KFOR had a concrete mandate, which was not political.“, which is absolutely true. However, what he does not say is that at least KFOR is operating outside it's mandate. This is not even just a matter of opinion, but rather a matter of fact. Something this man appears to be aware of considering his wording. For one reason or the other he does however prefers KFOR acting outside it's mandate over the alternative.

Maybe it's because he's caught in the moment and just trying to deal with an awkward situation. But even so, he should be aware of the legal consequences of such actions. They are rather clear. Military actions are only legal if they are to defend one's homeland or (offensive and) backed by a mandate from the UNSC. KFOR can not call Kosovo it's homeland, it is merely their administrative responsibility.

Ergo, the moment KFOR starts acting outside it's UNSC 1244 resolution, it's acting illegally. Another name for that is committing war crimes. Granted, not quite of the severity as that of killing civilians, but a war crime non the less. And given the huge weight a UN mission has, not one to be taken lightly. The long term consequences of these actions could be rather devastating, although the Libia disaster might be of an even bigger concern.

Maybe this man doesn't care about the consequences. At the time shit might really hit the fan, he will already be posted somewhere else. As an American he neither has much to fear of any prosecution. The US has already made it pretty clear that they will use force if necessary to “free” any of their servicemen if they would ever have to face an international crime tribunal.

Hopefully time will at least tell what kind of deals have been struck in and with Kosovo to make the EU/UN/US so willing to support the mess they create. I guess it must be a good one (at least for them), considering the risks they are taking. The (future) scandals could easily make the UN/DynCorp prostitution scandal in Bosnia look like child's play. Although the winner rewrites history, winners might eventually be replaced by other writers.

There will be NO nostrification of "Kosovo" diploms,NO recognizing of these illegal custom stemps.
After this newest agression and taking Serbs in the North as hostages like true terrorists do we will not reward Thaci and his gangsters!
If they continue taking Serbs in the North hostage we should cap the electricity to Kosovo, the main line goes from Serbia to them!

Also,in the talks with Albanians MUST BE included the return of property of Kosovo Serbs who were chased from their homes in 1999!(around 200.000)
We Serbs need only to act like we want talks in good faith,we want just EU candidate status,we are not interested in any concessions to Albanians!

Funny, does this man knows that suport fo EU is droping, people are tired of listening to this proapganda in last 10 years. You are losing it and you better do something quickly or its over. Norway is not part of EU and they donated Serbia more money than 80% of EU countries.

"Washington & EU didn't know" before but there actions since have been nothing but an explicit approval and they use KFOR as a tool to implement this attempt at annihilation of any Serbians left in what remains UN recognised Serbian province.

Tadic can no longer hide the message is clear your US and EU "friends" are telling you Kosovo or EU and whats more is we are using force against you to remove all existence of Serbia from it's heart. The UK, France & US continue to block a UN war crime investigation, the French try to manipulate history and re-assign Serbian to Albanian religious and cultural heritage and now the US have the audacity to again suggest they decide who joins the EU and Serbia needs to comply in what it decides by ripping away all that is Serbia and Serbian.

Tadic it's time for you to be Serbia's President or move on now the US poodle.

Given this statement it is now clear that America is Serbia's enemy No. 1!!
They will never admit their mistake of bombing Serbia 11 years ago and they will continue to support the Albanians until their are no Serbs left in Kosovo.

This man is an idiot and running scared. What I believe he is really saying is please don't make a fuss over German troups on your ground and we'll push forward Serbia's EU agenda. They are scared not because of Tadic but because the Russians are watching closely as are the Serbian people and if this blows up Tadic is finished as well as NATO's lies of a multiethnic paradise. (as if anyone with half a brain believes that anyway) It is noticeable that there has been very little on the British news about this if the Serbs fight this little Nazi expansionism I'm sure it will be in the news all the time- blaming the Serbs of course. I would tell the EU to .... off.
