I hate to disappoint you, but your “NATO reinforcements are on the way” is only troop rotation and nothing more mate. You just snake away all you like if it make you feel happy. Thaci cannot go to the washroom without Washington giving him permission and this latest fiasco is the work of the US not that Albanian idiot.

You can bring all of NATO to Kosovo and nothing will change and no one will lift a finger against the Serbs – STATUS QUO mate, STAUS QUO.

If the Albanian knuckleheads want to place an embargo on Serbian goods that fine; maybe Thaci will pull replacements out of his backside.

Hey how is Chicago going? Last time I heard some parts make Nigeria look good.

Begrade once more is puring oil into this ongoing fire. They illegally enter Kosovo territory, call for what they say peacefull protests, but all they want and do is escalating the crisis. What would these politicians say if Kosovo politicians would go into predominantly Albanien areas in Serbia and do the same thing. Kosovo has every international right to guard its boarders, stop the smugglers, warlords, and mafia which freely operated in the north with the support of Serbia, and Kosovo also has the right to impose a ban on the import of impose Serbian goods. Remeber this is something Serbia did on Kosovo goods 3 years ago. Kosovo waited for 3 long years, and after Belgrade didn't show any intrest in solving this situation they did the same thing Serbia did. Go on crying wolf, it won't help. The rest of the free world sees very clearly now who the aggressor in this part of the world; it is Serbia, and not Kosovo. It is schocking to say the least to read the comments of serbian citizens, and it shows very clearly that Srbia can not be part of the EU in it's present condition. There has to be a fundemental change in peoples opinion, and in the way the serbian government acts before this can happen. I more and more realize that this is not happening, and that serbian government does not support, and has no intrest in helping and preparing Serbia and it's citizens to face reality. The nationalistic tendencies within Serbia are scary, and Europe doesn't need that, and won't accept that. As long as this doesn't change Serbia will not become a member of the EU.

"Minister tells Serbs in north to remain at barricades"

It's nice to see that even the Serbs agree to block the traffic from Serbia to Kosovo in accordance with the decision of the Kosovo government. At this point KFOR does not even need to keep the border crossings closed; Serbs are doing that by closing the roads.

Forgive my naivety, but can North Kosovo not make a declaration of independence? Kosovo finally broke away from Serbia because Serbia removed its autonomy and treated Albania population as second class citizens, so why North cannot try the same?
(Simon, 2 August 2011 16:44)

because the serbs of kosovo are the ones that happily enjoyed being on top of the apartheid foodchain serbia and milosovic tried to create within what was yugoslavia. Because when serbia and milosovic attempted to strip kosovo of its rights, powers, and representation...he did so to all its citizens, including kosovo serbs... that they Cheered this speaks volumes.

and when serbia and serbs ...despite there apparent distaste for unilateral actions... finally ended their hypocrisy and erased yugoslavia, they did so without the input, permission, or participation of anyone in kosovo.

and when they set up there new serbia and authored yet another constituion.. they again did so without the input, permission or participation of anyone in kosovo.

the first thing kosovo did... was to bestow upon these ungrateful traitors, guaranteed federal rights, representation, and power within the nation.

precisely what they attempted to steal from kosovo albanians, in fact they receive disproportionate representation and power.

nationalist madness and a religious cult that teaches them to chafe under the evils of equality will not be rewarded.

amazing how serb apologists delude themsleves...

barricades are set up on orders from serbia by ARMED men... and here we have serbian "authorities" calling on more human shields.

peaceful protesters do not carry arms.
terrorists make use of human shields.

This is a very difficult situation but peaceful protest seems to be bearing fruit. If KFOR were to attack the civilians manning the barricades, there would be huge international ramifications. It was NATO that attacked and occupied Kosovo, and it is NATO which is now trying to enforce new borders.

Soon they will rename Kosovo (which is a Serbian word) and call the territory NATOnia.

because the serbs of kosovo are the ones that happily enjoyed being on top of the apartheid foodchain serbia and milosovic tried to create within what was yugoslavia.

It's nice to see that even the Serbs agree to block the traffic from Serbia to Kosovo in accordance with the decision of the Kosovo government. At this point KFOR does not even need to keep the border crossings closed; Serbs are doing that by closing the roads.

"Clearly there is no understanding for our interests and goals in a part of the international community, ...."

As long as Serbia makes proposals that it's not willing to accept itself, there will never be any understanding of your interests.
As long as Serbia continues to block goods with Kosova's stamps, it will never be understood by Int. community why Serbia is mad, while Kosova simply reciprocates with the same measures.

As long as barricades go, that would work during French revolution, almost a century ago.

unnecessary exaggerated patriotism!!!. We know you are diplomat and carefully select and use the words. But for non-diplomats this is "sick and old fashion nationalism, the platform of almost all the political parties in Serbia and I believe of 90% of Serbs including them of diaspora who are even more nostalgic nationalists. I am afraid, all these desparate messages will not go through because there is no interest of criminals (who are manipulating the normal people) to refrain from "exaggerated patriotism" supported by more soficticated criminals in Belgrade and unfortunately from frustrated priests.

Serbia is at war; not with Albanians, but with NATO.

It was NATO that attacked and occupied Kosovo, and it is NATO which is now trying to enforce new borders.

Soon they will rename Kosovo (which is a Serbian word) and call the territory NATOnia.

"Kosovars" will become "Nationians" and live as poor backward serfs.

--Should Edita Tahiri go in Presheva, incite people to burn the border post, kill Serbian policemen and put up barricades, until all the custom and border officials there are ethnic Albanians only?(Adrian Gashi, 2 August 2011 16:44)--

Thank you, spot on! stefanovic is a nasty piece of work indeed -- i saw it up close and personal, now we're all watching it play out on this tres dramatic intrnl stage. he's another one who talks "peace, peace peace" and stirs up trouble and nastiness at every opportunity.

i do wish to add one thing -- as impt as the issue of control of border and customs is, i hope that the issue of war crime responsibility is not getting totally lost. in pristina there is an evolving office concerning war crimes. we've had some initial contact with them -- my pal there knows some of the people involved and is cautiously optimistic. we need to be strongly and publicly supportive of their work, and make sure that it is funded and publicized appropriately.

i am personally supportive of a Truth Commission, which is organized around very specific criteria and is held to strong intrnl standards. all victims/survivors of war crimes in Kosova should have the opportunity to publicly testify about what they have been thru, with as many specifics as possible. naming names, etc. the hope is to build up a public and strong historical record, beyond the old, unfinished documentation (as in OSCE reports, Human Rights reports from the war.)

of course this is not ethnically one sided; any relevant party should be welcome to testify.

much of the testimony could be used for future prosecution cases against alleged war criminals, thousands of whom continue to reside inside serbia, snug as a bug in a rug, and probably in the criminal-infested north of kosova as well. these cases will NEVER be prosecuted if the belgrade regime is left to its own devises.

and the Hague tribunal was NEVER meant to cover the great majority of war crimes -- for better or worse.

so despite all of our immediate concerns about that "nice" neighbor to the north and all of its current dirty tricks, let us not forget the issue of war crimes and justice for the survivors. the industrialized burning of albanian bodies in 1999 was just one aspect of this, albeit it a significant one. it should all come out in the wash.

stay strong, people. freedom and independence must never be taken for granted, or they will quickly disappear.

You say Serbia has "not much control" but I didn't hear you mention anything about the K-Albs having control. They did 1 thing without permission and are getting slapped in the face by their masters. How much control does Pristina have? Not much. They aren't in the North. And when they tried to take it with force and firing at serb cars...well, we saw how that sadly ended for one K-Alb officer; thanks to your "snake".

From when the Nato and the US bailed you "albanians"(real albanians are Christian) out to the more recent events that have triggered all this commotion. And all I can say is wow! The truth is slowly being revealed to us here and I can say public opinion is rapidly changing. How can these european-invaders claim part of a state that has been their for hundreds of years. These are the tacicts of a reformed jihad takeover. They can but...the consequences would be huge.
1. Inorder to declare independence from Kosovo would be an admission that Kosovo was a country.
2. For any independence to be successful you have to have someone to recognize them and deal with them as a sovereign state. Who would do this?
Serbia-no way it would also be a recognition of Kosovo.
