Honestly,
I think partition/exchange is the best solution. No one wants to be ruled by foreigners.
I appreciate the heroic courage of Tadic in his speeches around the area lately. He is bringing a much needed resolve and peace.
the problem is that the Albanian media hasn't covered his work, mainly bc they are used to Belgrade tricks and think it s just another one, and we have had some tense situations in Albania as well since January.
In Albanian forums that picked news of Tadic''s idea, everyone of the commenters agreed with it. The Albanian public right now is not aware
Even Kosovo officials from interviews are caught in between. They know they are officially responsible for the north area and they want to do their job, ( they actually said that), but you could also tell they were uncomfortable with it.
The ball is on Serbia's court. Tadic has to keep going with the partition idea. Speak up, communicate, often and everyday. Most importantly don't give up! The Albanian public DOESN'T KNOW about Tadic''s recent peaceful efforts in the region.
Please, it is really important for the Balkans, speak to the Albanian public directly. His speeches in Bosnia, in the children mountain camp etc were beautiful. But I learned them from my research online. other people don't know.
Once Albanians see that Serbia has turned the page and learn of the partition proposed, like the forumers will realize is what everyone wanted and is needed. The fact that Serbia itself is speaking like this, makes you the hero. It is empowering that you who were the most abhorred brought the positive change. In the end, Albanians are tolerant people and we don't want to impose ourselves on others.
Please, also understand Kosovo Albanians and their latest moves. They have been repressed, psychologically tortured for a long time and need to feel they have a say. Please, don't focus on their recent moves. Focus on your main priority, partition/exchange.
We Albanians and Serbs have argued and insulted each other to no end, and then we have felt powerless bc of third party interveners who made the ultimate decisions. If either side claims to be so intelligent, why can't we compromise?
The problem is that Albanians have lost their trust in Serb's word, as they have been tortured and juggled around by Serb trick politics.
Tadic seems serious. If he appeals publicly, covered also by the BBC and such world mass media, in the presence of international officials, there will be a public push, and since this is always what we wanted to happen it will.
In the end, neither Eulex, nor Germans will live in the Balkans but us, so it is time to learn to COMMUNICATE with each other, with the condition of respect for each other and the well being of the region.
I am upset that the BBC covered the tension in North Kosovo but not on the positive work of Tadic!

Tadic will do what his MASTERS tell him.The USA and the EU are to blame by giving the Albanians the GREEN LIGHT to go forward with the operation.

(metrod, 27 July 2011 02:40)

There is no such surname. It's a play with the words on my side and a similarly sounding Cossack military rank, one below "Head man" ( = said as "Hetman"). Came via Poland by the way.

reading all these comments makes me believe that war is about to begin again, nonethelesss it never stopped on the official or improvised blogs like this one. the worst part of all is that many of you guys are still trying to use distorted or from scratch invented history as weapon and not as a mean for truth and understanding. stop with the mujahidin and the terrorist allegation because it's a monotonous borin groundless bullshit. besides during the war serbs could rely on one of the best trained and equipped army in europe while KLA was barely armed and funded by private donations. There was no chance for the former to keep up with the serb forces without nato interventions neither would have been a Thaci government today. The fact remains that 90% of the land is populated by kosovo albanians and is up to them to decide the status so the border take control action may seem inappropriate for the stability but it is a legitimate move which sooner or later had to be done.

The figures you have written are rather the opposite.
100.000 Serb military, paramilitary and police+every K-Serb civilian was armed to the teeth fighting against 5000 KLA fighters inside Kosova.

@Stefanovic&Bogi's comments; Pure lies, bc those border crossings(1&31)are in firm control of Kosova goverment.

As for Tadic mentioning the word " war", means squat and he knows it.
(Agim Kelmendi, 26 July 2011 20:17)

Nice lies, It didnt take the entire Yugoslav army to deal with the issue, nor did the KLA numbers from early 1998 stay the same

it was 16,000 Yugoslav troops, 3000 Police, 1000 Red Berets, 2500 Paramilitaries and 1000 Foreign Fighters Vs around 25,000 KLAs and some 2000 Foreign mercenaries/Mujahideen.

Just out of curiosity can you name a single battle the KLA won?

Well, your serbia doesn't have balls to go to war with anyone(especially with Kosova), just sit, relax and watch what's going to happen with serbian terrorists in the northern part of the country who killed a KPS member today.
P.S Please do us Albanians a favour and start a war if you can.

The reason that Serbian extremists are angry is they do not want to lose northern Mitrovica. Mitrovica is the last part they are trying to destroy and then divide Kosovo. Take a look how the Serb children in leposavic living around the drugs that Serbs are taking up. Serbs in northern Mitrovica will never be able to split Mitrovica. What a stupid comment. To mention another war, even in the negated form. Unlike some self-proclaimed politicians in Pristina, Tadic is educated enough and should know well that problems can only be solved by dialogue and by diplomatic manners and not by unilateral moves and aggression.

Why would Tadic mention the word 'war'?
Bc it gets instant attention in Serbia. He wants to shift focus from real problems his country is facing such as poverty, unemployment, EU admission, crime, corruption, etc.

Moderate Serbs (I like to think most of them fall in this group) are tired of wars and old tales. They want a better life. So, they will finally move to accept Kosovo as an independent country...thus aiding Tadic in this matter.

To those of you who disagree and are ready to take up arms consider the chain of events that took place:

- You said Kosovo would never be accepted as an independent country?
You were wrong! Although, you can try to argue based on semantics reality proves otherwise.

- ICJ - you lost the case. But, ICJ gave you enough to kid yourselves. Again, reality proves otherwise as Serbia has no control over Kosovo. And, after ROSA units took over the border checkpoints Serbia showed it has no control over them.

- Embargo on Serbian goods - Eulex says it will look into this matter.
What are the results?

- KPS special forces at border checkpoints.
Eulex will officially say it was not a 'wise' idea but will do nothing about it.

You can all choose to believe what you wish. Ignorance is bliss!

But, the truth is staring you straight in your face. It's up to you if you want to accept it or not.

My opinion is that this was, perhaps, coordinated ahead of time.
Serbia now needs to show good 'neighborly relations'.

In the end, ROSA units will retreat but in accordance with Eulex will agree to patrol those checkpoints to make sure the ban on Serbian goods is upheld. This will become a frequent occurrence.

Serbs in the area will get used to these units. Eventually, their presence will increase and some kind or rule will begin to take place in that part.

We shall see.

Their goal is not to seize the "border"posts, their goal is to create terror and fear, step up the pressure on the Serbs in the North so they would etnically cleanse them!
That is what Tadic needs to make clear to the Western politicians, this action has no backing from the EU or KFOR,they already said it!
Build barricads,do not allow these terrorists to achieve their goals and negotiate with KFOR so they force the Albanians back!

What do you need "special forces" for for taking administrative points?
Why not mixed Serb-Albanian police units?

Because it is a part of the greater Albanian plan and it will fail,Serbs from North are not going anywhere!

Kosovo's ban was a shock to Serbian officials because they have come to think of Kosovo as a supplicant(a person begging humbly and earnestly eg for mercy)in the talks. They note that Kosovo will never become a member of the UN without Serbia’s permission, so they believe Kosovo "needs"
Serbia. (Although it is also true that Serbia needs a resolution of the Kosovo issue to join the EU.) The main Serbian exports to Kosovo are foodstuffs and building materials. Many Serbian jobs depend on this market. Yet Kosovar importers can easily (if slightly more expensively) come up with substitutes, either by turning to Macedonian exporters or by diverting Serbian goods through Macedonia.

It clearly never occurred to Serbian officials that Serbia was far more dependent on the Kosovo market than vice versa, leaving them vulnerable to this sort of move. Good job Kosova!

Well, your serbia doesn't have balls to go to war with anyone(especially with Kosova), just sit, relax and watch what's going to happen with serbian terrorists in the northern part of the country who killed a KPS member today.
P.S Please do us Albanians a favour and start a war if you can.

Honestly,
I think partition/exchange is the best solution.

Albanian terrorists are loosing nerves!

The West must stop the Albanian fascists immediately, this crisis is solely the responsibility of extremist Albanian nationalists in Pristina(Taci & co)

pre 12 godina

Over 50 percent of the population in Mitrovica has never lived there but they are criminals from all over Serbia. That the Serbs shoot sniper on the police indicate that they are extremists and they must be either executed or send them back to Serbia, which will happen
