Shooting JNA officers while a prisoner exchange was being undertaken and negotiated to free Alija Isetbegovic is hardly an act of courage, but murder pure and simple. The Slovenian so called resistant movement did no better shooting young JNA officers who were ordered not to fire back.

So only the Serbs should go to jail eh Captain Frisco. You go conspiciously absent when Serbs are on the receiving end of the Croat, Bosniak and Albanian fascists but pop your head up when you feel the time is appropriate to have a another bitter, hate filled and racist rant at Serbs. You are the most odious person that I have ever had the misfortune to meet on cyber space. I hope I dont meet you in real life. No wonder Dragana gave you the heave ho! lol.

--It is very sad that B92 which was a voice of objective truth ten years ago is peddling this kind of article. There is no mention here of the fact that the international arrest requests for "war crimes" made by Serbia have been dismissed as politically motivated by objective courts in EU member states. The case of Ejup Ganic comes to mind. It is a shame that as B92 has moved to the mainstream in Serbia it has adopted the kind of mainstream media sentiment typical of RTV Serbia, TV Pink etc from the Milosevic-era onward.

AMEN! couldn't have said it better myself. this warrant is a continuation of the milosevic/karadzic/mladic aggression. it is the war the blgd regime is still waging, albeit w/out weapons (supposedly). or let's say the choice of weapons has changed, for the time being.

Not only is our pal Jovan innocent of all charges; he is a great hero for the people of bosnia. of free bosnia. and yes, since he is of serb ancestry, and remained loyal to bosnia (actually many did), and was such a hero, it is sadly predictable that the belgrade regime would still go after him. But it is evil -- it is ugly, it is revealing, and it is a lesson for us all. a desperate attempt to redefine the war, to cleanse their own guilt, to relativize criminal responsibility. they tried it with jurisic (fr tuzla), imprisoned him, then lost him when even their own supreme court couldn't stomach the farce. they lost ganic to a normal court in london, which wouldn't stand for the phony trumped-up charges. and they will NEVER get divjak. period.

yes, i am saying that divjak is a political prisoner, and has been held hostage in vienna since the beginning of march. at that time i wrote they would NEVER extradite him to serbia. never. i still believe they will not. but they've taken way too long, which was part of my recent message/query to the austrian embassy here, in DC.

I hope that all of our frnds and allies around the world will contact their respective austrian embassies, inquire after Jovan's health and demand that he be immediately freed and sent home to Bosnia. it is the least we can do.

the Sarajevo Film Festival, of all the many festivals i've attended, is absolutely my favorite. you can't imagine how welcoming and cosmopolitan it is unless you've been there -- actually, i happened to see a very good film from serbia the last time i attended (among others) and it received a very positive reaction. Something about a musical group composed of... old ladies. it was wonderful, very heart-warming.

that my beloved sarajevo film fest has publicly come out in support of jovan divjak is tremendous -- i applaud them, i adore them. and him.

Free Jovan Divjak now!!

Serbs in the Muslim controlled part of Sarajevo were taken to prisons and concentration camps. Many had their homes invaded and were killed there. Muslim military records released in 1997 showed that there were SCORES OF SARAJEVO SERB CIVILIANS killed by Muslim paramilitary units in only the first several days of the war.

Muslims had released ex-cons to run their paramilitary and one was named Jusef Prazina. He was torturing and killing Serbs in prisons he controlled in Sarajevo, but he and his men was also robbing from Sarajevo Muslims too.

The Muslims had the largest number of forces in Sarajevo - 40,000 - and they were targeting the Serb-held suburbs/parts of the city which ended the war in worse shape than the Muslim-held section.

Again pionting the finger at everyone bar themselves. Whe will you nationalisst stop living in denial land - it wasnt the 'west' 'NATO' or the Germans and Americans or any body else that triggered the death of Yugo - it was the 'greater serbian' lie.

Thats the only myth that is being unmasked. It never did exist , it doesnt exist , it will never exist.

These are ablsolute facts - hence they are ablsolute truths.

Gradually the hoax that was the war in Yugoslavia is drawing to a close and the truth is trickling out. From the Sarajevo marketplace to Racak, those who were there are starting to be heard. It is only a matter of time before the powerful lies perpetuated by NATO and willing accomplices will be put to the test and ultimately fail. Hoaxes are finite and time is on the the side of Truth. Come on everyone, you know it's true deep down. If anyone is to blame for the breakup, the finger must point to NATO and the meddling Americans and Germans. We were all used as pawns and now are their slaves. However they are bankrupt and we will again be on our own to figure out a way to put the past behind us and move on. The war was tragically real, but the causes of it unheard.

If the Tadic administration truly wants to join the rest of Europe, they need to stop re-fighting Milosevic's wars in Europe's courtrooms. It's embarrassing and morally bankrupt for the country and the region as a whole.
(Tulip, 25 July 2011 11:37)

Tulip, if General Divjak has a case to answer, he should by all means be brought to face a court of law. That goes for those who fought on all sides, no matter how big or how small the crime was. Justice should be fair and impartial. Now, if General Divjak or his supporters proclaim that he is innocent, let him present his case before the Court and if proven innocent of any crimes that he is alledged to have committed, then he can walk away with his head held high.

Quid pro quo.

Always amazing how in all ex-YU countries the so-called 'heroes' are glorified, no matter if its appropriate or not. I thought this is a film festival?

Divjak is only a "war crimes suspect" in Serbia where failed nationalist mythologies seem to still to be the dominant basis for foreign policy decisions. This charge has been been thrown out of every court in Europe, much like the Ganic case.

This article is pure rubbish. First of all Divjak is a Bosnian Serb who fought in the Bosnian national army. Second he is a hero who defended the Bosnian people from Serb genocidal military units that were targeting civilians and committing genocide against the Bosnian people (as we saw in Srebrenica and elsewhere). Serbia is harassing this man with no evidence and it is trying to distract its public from the fact that Serbia was the main aggressor in the Bosnian Genocide and the other Balkan conflicts in the 90s.
