I'm baffled by some of the pro-Iran comments on here. What is the point of keeping Kosovo if the price is pandering to Islamist fascists for evermore? The whole point of 1389 is that it symbolises the complete opposite of what you're doing. Milos Obilic killed the sultan, he didn't infiltrate his camp so that he could tell him what a great guy he was.

Iran is a bloody, islamistic dictatorship. That is not an insult, that is a fact. Let us see if Serbia is allowed to speak out the truth. And regarding Dragoljub Mićunović. I admit that I don't know him yet, but he has apparently balls. Full support. Good Job, Drago!(JohnC., 13 July 2011 17:51)

Yes -- Iran has one of the worst fascist regimes in the world. they are well known for imprisoning democracy activists (and many others) and raping them in jail. boys and girls. so we need to speak the truth instead of defending those evil! types. that's not "islam" -- it's fascism.

Whether or not Iran is a democratic country is not the issue here. The statement that Iran is not democratic was a stupid and antagonistic thing to say against a country that has not been antagonistic to Serbia at all. It was unnecessary to be said, it was of no benefit, and it was only of detriment. In government, you should use your brain before you allow a word to come out of your mouth. By the way, to say that Iran is not democratic is wrong and baseless, anyway. It may be an Islamic Republic, but it is a Republic. A sincere apology should be made by Jeremic.

Andy UK, you and your friends are wrong. President Ahmadinejad won 2/3rds of the vote in 2009 and has more support in Iran than the blood-soaked British brute, Cameron, has in the UK....

Few days ago Serbs insulted two North African countries now this. I wonder which of these three will recognize Kosovo first!
(ivan, 13 July 2011 17:16)

I doubt that they will change much since their decision has nothing to do with their love to Serbia but is based on purely internal issues.

However, that cases shows so clearly how vulnerable Serbia has become. That faction of (presumably) Pro-Serbs are merely backstabbers who try squeeze out the best. They are also not interested that the Kosovo conflict will be solved, because they can play with Serbia like a puppet and if Serbia doesn't comply you can witness now how obediently Serbia apologizes as if they insulted their masters. This is so pathetic, but a result of a failed policy which can only end with the Serbian people on the loser side. But in this, the current Serbian administration would be very consistent with it's predecessors, leading Serbia from one victorious defeat to the next victorious defeat.

Iran is the number 12 in the GlobalFirePower rating (http://www.globalfirepower.com/ ) and a potential Serbian ally in many items. So what’s the use teasing a regional power NATO is bewaring ? Serbia needs friends but not rivals.

...And that comes from a "government" that is the most shameless and obedient US-puppet regime in the world. Only the other colour coded US-client, Saakaswahilii (two or three iii´s?)beats Tadic slightly in that respect, but that´s because i havn´t seen him eating any ties yet, otherwise you can´t tell any difference. If an obedient opportunist like the two above mentioned, sees an opportunity to get attention from their masters they take it. That´s not necessarily a sign of intelligence, all you have to do to stay in power in these two countries is doing what you are told to and maybe sometimes say what you think would please and no matter how many bogus "elections", no matter how many times people want you out, you will still come out as the winner and the western press and their local clients will sing songs on "democratic" you are.

'Won' is not the correct word to be used for that election faker and manipulator. It was even needed to manipulate, though most opposition candidates were not accepted to participate in the election at all.

This is another very vivid example where countries which (presumably) support Serbia in the Kosovo case (like Morocco, Algeria, Russia, etc.) raise their tone as if Serbia became their personal slave which can be pushed around. Now, Iran demands to be regarded as a "democratic" country. I'm curious if Jeremic will give in, but if he does it would just confirm what a slimy and spineless creature he is, because Iran is a bloody, islamistic dictatorship. That is not an insult, that is a fact. Let us see if Serbia is allowed to speak out the truth.

Fortunately for the Iranian people the CIA-inspired Iranian uprising was crushed by Iranian police. Had they not acted quickly and decisively, then Iran would now be the same position as Libya.

It should be Aligrudic who's ashamed of himself, not Micunovic. Iran is indeed not a democracy, it's an Islamist dictatorship. Moreover, it's an Islamist dictatorship that has waged proxy war on Serbia. The Iranians were just as active as the Saudis in putting mujahideen into Bosnia who then went around cutting the heads off Serb peasants.

How on earth do Iran think they have a leg to stand on? It's a theocracy that won't accept any challenge to it. You only have to look at the way peaceful protests were handled recently after rigged elections, not to mention the widespread torture and rape of opposition activists.

"One of the most democratic governments in the Middle East" - that's not saying much.

I have several Iranian friends who can't go back there for fear of their lives. They also reckon that no more than 20% of the people back the government and wish the revolution had never happened.

Lets make no bones about it Iran is not a democratic country.

There is no right to protest, there is no free media, elections are slanted in favour of certain leaders (at best, at worst they are rigged). Worse still religious leaders have far too much power. There is no democracy in Iran.

I won't be weeping when the whole pack of cards comes tumbling down, but one word of caution - lets not forget that today's situation in Iran was influenced by the corrupt and cruel regime of the Shah which was very much supported by the US.

Lets hope that the next true government of Iran will be responsible and representative of the Iranian people.
