Excuse me icj1, but you are clearly not an American,
(Michael, 11 July 2011 06:44)

Of course I’m not, but for some reason sj thinks I am :)

and you totally missed my insertion of sarcasm in my comments regarding the "Confederate States". In addition, you don't know American history, or deliberately tried to misrepresent it.
(Michael, 11 July 2011 06:44)

I never claimed I do and I don’t actually care about it. America is not the center of the world so that everybody has to know its history

Confederate States haven't existed since 1865, and they never wanted to be part of the American Union, so your knowledge of my country's history is nonsensical. Secondly, Abraham Lincoln fought a very bloody civil war to preserve the union from states that tried to secede, just like the President of Yugoslavia tried to do upon acts of federal secession. The American Civil War established that acts of secession would be met with warfare from the central government, so what Belgrade did was consistent with what Lincoln did. 600,000 soldiers died in the US Civil War, and Atlanta was burned to the ground as pure punishment.
(Michael, 11 July 2011 06:44)

OK… thanks for the history lecture. And then what ?!

Kosovo's attempted secession is illegitimate and violates international law, specifically UNSC 1244.
(Michael, 11 July 2011 06:44)

Nope, the ICJ said its UDI does not violate 1244 and it does not violated international law

Its NASA programs not program
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)
.
Well, then start to list them. So far you have not mentioned a single program. Even the one that was mentioned was mentioned by me :) and that was replaced by another program.

Yes, millions want to move to the US, but the vast, vast majority are poor. Meanwhile your educated are looking to move out because jobs are non existent and standard of living has fallen and in the meantime the media tells you how wonderful and prosperous you are – the Emperor without cloths syndrome.
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)

Evidence please… Just because you say so, it does not mean it is so.

The BRIC countries are on their way up at great speeds – your comments tell me that you have no idea how your system works let alone what is going on outside.
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)

Wow, since you are well informed, please illuminate us from the inside how things work :) And the BRICS better do fast becauase I don't have 100 years to see the wonderful things that they might do !

There are millions of ignorant alright and they mostly belong to the US.
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)

But you just said before that the educated are in the US (looking to move out) and the ignorant are from outside US (looking to move in). So, please agree with yourself first and then come to write in the forum !

Why doesn’t the US act unilaterally these days but needs NATO and every other rag tag group to help it out?
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)

Well, when the US acts unilaterally, the question is why it acts unilaterally. Now that it acts multilaterally, the question is why it acts multilaterally. So, let’s agree first what is the right thing to do and then we can discuss it.

What because it so rich? Get real, you media talks to you as if you’re a 12 year old and feeds you nonsense 24/7 and you lap it up.
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)

Wow, you must be 6 years old then :)

The US budget is a fairytale told to little children and if NASA has such a superior budget why involve the Russians or anyone else for that matter.
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)

Why not involve them ? What’s the downside of cooperation ? Dude why do you see everything as antagonist in the world ? Is this the Serbian mentality of being surrounded by enemies ?!

Yes, superior US shuttles that kept falling out of the sky and what did the US have to replace them with? NOTHING, they had to rely on the Russians.
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)

you are just on topic, because just last Friday the Shuttle Atlantis (for your information, that is US-made) docket to the space station carrying much more than a basket of fruit. First learn something about a subject before trying to look smart.

If you want to write BS give it more thought than what you have done so far. The US unemployment is soaring and there is no means of reversing this.
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)

No soaring at all… it’s lower than it was last year

Your current level is 31%, but most are hidden in various different program so as to give you the idea its only 9.5%.
(sj, 11 July 2011 01:13)

Mine, 31 % ?! In the country where I live is close to 11 %.

The NSA programs to be closed will affect approximately 30,000 jobs and they are not all in NASA itself. You do understand about contractors? Hmmmmmm?
(sj, 10 July 2011 13:56)

That’s why I asked you whether you were referring to the Constellation Program, as it appears from the above you do. Just a correction though… not “programs” but a “program”. The Constellation Program cancellation is estimated that may cost 30000 jobs. In any case, that program will be replaced by the National Space Policy committing billions of additional funding for NASA from which the contractors will benefit as well. Replacing a program for a better one is something everybody should do.

Perhaps you might want to turn on TV and see how well your US is going – latest unemployment figures is up and on their way up even further. Perhaps you might also notice that there are thousands of well educated Americans applying for visas to move overseas seeking work – this has never occurred before in US history.
(sj, 10 July 2011 13:56)

Thousands ?! That’s nothing compared to the millions who apply to get a visa to immigrate to the US, waiting for years and years to get one. And always there have been Americans that went to work abroad. Not sure what is exceptional about that. And the fact that they get the visa relatively fast indicates that the demand is very low.

Yeah I am hallucinating about all of this, but your lot are going through the pain and there is lots more to come. Funny I keep telling you people what will happen and it does (to date I have not missed a beat) and you guys keep on coming up with crap like “ the US is, relatively speaking, much better than the rest of the world….”
(sj, 10 July 2011 13:56)

Yes, you have been telling for years about the wonders of Russia, China, India, etc.. but unfortunately nothing has come true so far and people from all over the world still risk, even their lives, to get a chance to immigrate to the US and Western Europe. So, it’s not us guys you need to convince; it’s those millions of “ignorants” you need to convince that Russia, China or India is a much better place to immigrate.

and you guys keep on coming up with crap like “ the US is, relatively speaking, much better than the rest of the world….”
(sj, 10 July 2011 13:56)

Of course, what do you want us to compare the US to ?! To the paradise ?! On that you are correct… Compared to the paradise the US is worse :). Unfortunately that’s not a choice that people have: US vs the Paradise. It’s either US or some other country in the world.

On the issue of space and NASA if it was not for the other partners the US would not have the funds to carry a basket of fruit to the space station.
(sj, 10 July 2011 13:56)

Oh, you are just on topic, because just yesterday the Shuttle Atlantis (for your information, that is US-made) docket to the space station carrying much more than a basket of fruit. First learn something about a subject before trying to look smart.

Just look at the budgets available for space programs. US invests as much as the rest of the world on space programs. So you can understand whether Roscosmos needs NASA or viceversa, with NASA having 5 times more available funding than Roscosmos.

"So, given a choice, it's a no-brainer where somebody will choose to live in among these four countries (as, indeed, the immigration stats show)."
(icj1, 10 July 2011 07:11)

Simple: The less the population gets, the more the state will get. Where does the billions of money China collected came from? From exports with low prices, manufactured by a workforce that gets the money in a month that workers in western countries get in a day. But yes, China will be the upcoming world superpower for some decades, it's not hard to recognize. Russia is more comparable to Arabic countries: Once the natural resources (oil, gas) have been exploited, there's not much left in the economy. India a superpower? Mabye a super-poverty :)

Hmm, reading the above I thought how happy must be the average person living in these "superpowers" but then I found that, according to the IMF:

the average person living in Russia earns more or less the same as, say, the average person living in Botswana, i.e. 1/3 of the average person living in the US;

the average person living in China earns more or less the same as, say, the average person living in Albania, i.e. 1/6 of the average person living in the US;

the average person living in India earns more or less the same as, say, the average person living in Iraq, i.e. 1/14 of the average person living in the US.

So, given a choice, it's a no-brainer where somebody will choose to live in among these four countries (as, indeed, the immigration stats show).

As long as the US does not insist that Serbia give up Kosovo, and Serbia does not insist that the US give up the Confederate States that tried to secede, all will be well.
(Michael, 9 July 2011 21:08)

The only difference is that Kosovo does not want to be together with Serbia in a single country, whereas the "Confederate States" are not saying that they don't want to be in the same country with the rest of the US states. So not sure how Serbia can insist on something that does not exist ! (not that anybody would care about Serbia's opinion even if the issue existed)

Look at NASA, it’s in the processes of shutting down many of its functions with the result of 30 000 losing their jobs and if anyone thinks the US is doing great then you’re in Disneyland, Anaheim or in a nuthouse.
(sj, 9 July 2011 12:12)

Dude, is this another allucination of yours ?! The entire NASA's workforce is abour 18,500 and is forecast to remain more or less the same for a few years.

If you were referring to the cancellation of the Constellation Program in April 2011, that's not "many of the NASA functions" and, in any case, it was replaced by the National Space Policy committing billions of additional funding for NASA.

So yes the US is, relatively speaking, much better than the rest of the world as I'm not aware of any other country which has a space exploration agency that has the funding that NASA has.

There is nothing wrong with working to achieve better relations with the USA. Hopefully, US officials will at some point open up a history book and learn that Serbia always stood with the US in both World Wars, and maintains its favorable opinion of American culture. There are lots of Americans with Serb backgrounds in the US. As long as the US does not insist that Serbia give up Kosovo, and Serbia does not insist that the US give up the Confederate States that tried to secede, all will be well.

Look to superpowers like Russia, China and India. America has had its fifteen minutes of fame.

Why? Who needs the US? And for those that would answer it’s because they give Serbia aid; don’t bother as the US cannot look after its own poor let alone give money to anyone else.
Tadic is playing to a few poor souls who think the US has pots of money and if they are nice then some of it will come their way.
All that clap trap about Mary from the Dairy, US Ambassador, handing out money for this or that in Serbia is utter crap. Anyone who knows how aid works knows that 95% never gets to where it should go; in fact it never leaves the shore of the donor country.
Look at NASA, it’s in the processes of shutting down many of its functions with the result of 30 000 losing their jobs and if anyone thinks the US is doing great then you’re in Disneyland, Anaheim or in a nuthouse.

Michael

pre 12 godina

There is nothing wrong with working to achieve better relations with the USA. Hopefully, US officials will at some point open up a history book and learn that Serbia always stood with the US in both World Wars, and maintains its favorable opinion of American culture. There are lots of Americans with Serb backgrounds in the US. As long as the US does not insist that Serbia give up Kosovo, and Serbia does not insist that the US give up the Confederate States that tried to secede, all will be well.

(MikeC, 9 July 2011 13:30)

Hmm, reading the above I thought how happy must be the average person living in these "superpowers" but then I found that, according to the IMF:

the average person living in Russia earns more or less the same as, say, the average person living in Botswana, i.e. 1/3 of the average person living in the US;

the average person living in China earns more or less the same as, say, the average person living in Albania, i.e. 1/6 of the average person living in the US;

the average person living in India earns more or less the same as, say, the average person living in Iraq, i.e. 1/14 of the average person living in the US.

So, given a choice, it's a no-brainer where somebody will choose to live in among these four countries (as, indeed, the immigration stats show).

Yes, millions want to move to the US, but the vast, vast majority are poor. Meanwhile your educated are looking to move out because jobs are non existent and standard of living has fallen and in the meantime the media tells you how wonderful and prosperous you are – the Emperor without cloths syndrome.

There are millions of ignorant alright and they mostly belong to the US. Why doesn’t the US act unilaterally these days but needs NATO and every other rag tag group to help it out?
