It took more than a year between Serbia and Russia the same thing from protocol signature till it was implemented and both embassies and border guards knew it. Don't worry, the protocol with Brasil was signed over a year ago and implementation is still "in works".

Ukraina and Serbia want to do the same as well, supposed to be this year - probably will be implemented before the EC 2012.

This is insanity at work at our cost because we feed the bureaucrats.

BTW - it is strongly rumored, the visa-free regime between U.S. and RU with all sadness for the fanboyz of all kind of sort will be implemented before the footy World Championship in 2018.

Visas add enormous expense to everyone and essentially increase the risk.
Embassies can't process the number of requests anymore on-time and outsource the requests... often to the SAME private company which is staffed by people from countries of prime terrorist risk.

In other words - the personal data of Ivan Ivanovich Ivanov going to U.K. and the personal data of John Smith going to Russia is potentially processed by the same person, Muhammad Al-Allahuakbar who was born in Pakistan and works for the outsourced company. I see some insanity right there. If that's the case - than better no visa regime at all, screw it.

Instead, the idiot ministries keep the visa regime and force people submit personal data almost straight into Taliban's hand. This mostly applies to UK-Russia-India-U.S. glorious four. Greed is stronger than bombs, all four know about terrorist threat a bit.

Long overdue. And for both visa-free travel to USA, China and all countries of ex-Soviet Union will be within 10 years. Not a single criminal ever was caught because of a visa regime.
