The US is an important part of the world economy, but it’s not the centre of the universe as it was 20 years ago.
I really don’t care whether you believe me or not and you and Alice in wonderland can live in whatever world you like and be thankful for what you have but the US is only important to you Americans despite CNN or Fox telling you that the world cannot survive without the US – it can and it will very easily.
I suggest that you whip that head out of the sand and have a good look around you or even better you can tell us which states in the US are not firing their police and teachers. I think that is easier than the other way around.
The economic collapse of the US will have little affect on Serbia as its economy is a basket case thanks to the US and they are already there, but I’ll watch how your lot copes with economic chaos.
Enjoy.

This agreement has a humanitarian character. Todays Serbia is a modern European country, not willing to repress or hinder anybody, without giving up its legitime interests. Kosovo however is displaying the problematic potential many people could foresee. Kosovo turned out to have 1,7 Million habitants, due to a large scale of migration since they can't see a perspective in Kosovo. Poor governance, extensive corruption and organized crime, strong tendency of radicalisation. These days there is crowds of bearded men (wahabit islamists) in Priština claiming a big mosque in the city centre - near "BILL CLINTON BLVD". That's all a very big Danger.

Well, the stats speak differently compared to other countries. How is EU or US compared to other countries ? Given a choice, where would people like to immigrate, to the EU, US, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Serbia, Kosovo or Albania ?
(icj1, 4 July 2011 21:38)

Regurgitate the old staples of communism and socialism – hey the cold war is finished and that rhetoric is only used in the US and nowhere else. It’s 2011 not 1955.

You had better look at what is going on in the US now and see how many states are not in financial trouble and then look at your federal government and see if it’s not in trouble. Riots are on the doorstep mate; yes that right riots and civil unrest – enjoy. Hello!!! Most people know they are in trouble when their government fires teachers, police etc!!!…!!

On the issue of migration; your are correct when you say that people want to move to the US because most of your educated and skilled are looking for work outside their country and are moving in great masses to places like Australia and Asia. The poor and desperate still think that the US is the wonder of wonders and they think when they get there its going to be heaven – Hollywood of the 1940 and 1950s did a fabulous job and the myths have perpetuated in the 21 century. Look at you northern states; look at central US; look at California and last look at Los Vegas – I was there at a conference 3 months ago and could not believe the mess its in. Casinos closing because of lack of patronage.

And no the EU is not telling Slovenia or Croatia to tighten their belts because of prudent fiscal management – its because the EU cannot maintain their levels of living standards so what do you think is going to happen to Kosovo? Hmmm?
(sj, 4 July 2011 23:48)
I love to read your rhetoric day in and day out about the collapse of America. It reminds me to be thankful that I have what I have and that I do not actually live in the world according to sj!
People who still do not get it that should US actually collapse financially the world will follow. And no one in Serbia is going to be sitting around the dinner table cheering their life in eutopia, as the financial markets of the world collapse. Be careful what you wish for!

Or else what? No EU? The EU is on the brink of a financial meltdown itself and it’s not just because of Greece or Spain or Portugal or Ireland but because of the UK, Italy, France, Belgium, Denmark and so forth. You see these countries have either overspent trying to stay above the waterline during the last GFC, plus wars, that they are in no condition fight another financial meltdown.
(sj, 4 July 2011 14:09)

Yeah, tell that to the Greeks, who must be thanking the Gods that Greece is part of EU otherwise their economy and financial system would have been belly-up by now…

I warned on many occasions of this happening and was ridiculed, but look at the US today – sacking police, teachers, reducing government workers pay and pensions. Which US State is not in the processes of doing this????? All are cutting their budgets.
(sj, 4 July 2011 14:09)

That’s good. Less government is better (less waste)… Otherwise the Socialism would have been a success story :)

Kosovo is an insignificant piece of land that is unsustainable unless it’s supported by EU funds and the EU has run out of money. The EU has told, not asked but told, Slovenia, which has pleaded for fanatical help, to reign its spending. It has told Croatia that Government spending is to be reduced by a further 30%. Their wages have to be reduced dramatically or the IMF will down grade their credit worthiness even further as the EU can no longer guarantee borrowings. Pensions are going down. In fact Croatia has to bring down its wages, wait for this one, in line with Serbia. The EU has told Croatia that its wages are far too high; so paradise on earth is finally coming down with a loud crash.
(sj, 4 July 2011 14:09)

That’s good then that this countries are being brought to reality by the EU, otherwise if they continue too long with far too high wages, pensions, etc, etc… they would end up belly-up

The EU has no money left and the US is finished as far as a player in the Balkans is concerned – it’s broke.

"So, something tells me that educated Serbs don't care anymore about Kosovo, they just want to live a good life without the influence of Serbian nationalists ..."
(ivan, 4 July 2011 16:57)

Yes. It's wise if people want, first of all, a good life for themselves and their family. In fact, even a higher perecentage of young people in Kosovo - educated or not so educated, unfortunately - realize that this so-called 'country' without any economy worth a mention, this main drug hub of Europe, ruled by criminals and corrupt politicians who only care for their own pockets, doesn't have a future and want to get out of it as soon as possible. Legally, or illegally.

In the end does it really matter if Serbia recognizes Kosovo? Majority of Serbian students after finishing university want to leave Serbia and move to western countries, yes the same western countries that recognize Kosovo. So, something tells me that educated Serbs don't care anymore about Kosovo, they just want to live a good life without the influence of Serbian nationalists who behave like the Taliban, and want to see Serbia go backwards instead of moving forwards, and join European family of civilized nations.

Once again there seems to be a belief that this magic land called Kosova is so important that Serbia has to recognize its independence or else!!!!

Now on the issues of what has Kosovo got out of these talks? ID and number plates that do not carry the emblems of an independent Kosova and recognition of Pristina’s diplomas – what does that mean when no one recognizes Albanian qualifications anyway? It means nothing at all.
All of this is the EU way of slowly turning things around to bring the two parts closer together and then join them. For those that laugh at this idea look at the facts – Albania cannot sustain Kosovo as it can only just sustain itself (no money). If Kosovo was to join with Albania it would cause an economic cataclysm resulting in a collapse of entire system.

Agreement were reached between Kosovo and Serbia. It means indirectly recognition of each other by both Kosovo and Serbia. The agreements were not reached with EU as some serbs trying to portrait it as. EU is not a part of the negotiation but only an mediator. It wasent the Eu who asked for the dialoug but Serbia did.

In the id-card and driver licence of Kosovo there is state symbols so it sayes it all. Serbia is recognizing Kosovo but people here can say what they want.

In the end Serbia has to fully recognize the independence of Kosovo to enter EU. Since there will not be any other solution Serbia will have to do it. It's not like Kosovo statehood and stateinstituions will disappear. It will become more clear in the coming years when KSF(Kosovo security forces) will be formed into the Kosovo army.

Or else no UN membership for Kosovo and no EU membership for Serbia. But still Kosovo not part of Serbia. Kosovo dosent need UN membership or Serbian recogntion because all Kosovo need is to have good relations with US,its neighbours and the EU countrys. Japan,Canada,Saudi Arabia and Turkey is just a Big Plus.

The real question is: Can Serbia live in Europe without being an Eu member ??? We'll see when Macedonia,Montenegro and Albania becomes first because of serbian stubbornness
.... :)

Hello!!! Most people know they are in trouble when their government fires teachers, police etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm?

Enjoy.
