Serbian Church "won’t invite pope to Serbia"

The Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) will probably not invite Pope Benedict XVI to the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, Tanjug has learned.

to all our hate mongering posters below - as our great JPII has said before he went to his saviour - "stupidity is also a gift from God..."

Evidently you are very happy with the first gift you insist on getting seconds :)

Going forward has nothing to do with Pope's visit to Serbia. That's pretty stupid! And yes he's not welcome in Serbia because he still follow the tradition of giving support to Croatian nazis from World War 2. China is second world economy and as well I remember the Pope hasn't yet been there. Unofficialy Russian Orthodox Church is the main church in orthodoxy and if they don't agree them to be under pope's control (why would they anyway) none of the orthodox churches will give its consent and I'm glad because of that.

I just can't understand the Serbian political plays. You guys want to go forward by stongly holding the past... just keep it that way and see how far it got you... Serbia could have been in EU before Slovenia but your none sense politiciens try to capture the world while letting the present moment slip away... Keep it going... You guys are always right and everyone else is wrong.

If you watched the funeral of Pope John 11 you would have noticed that two former US presidents were there and even kneeled near his coffin. It was not because the Catholic Church is that powerful, it’s an old custom where masters show respect to loyal servants. That Pope did everything the west demanded even sold out Bishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador, real Christian who tried to help the poor of that country. Pope John then out of guilt assumed the identity of the 3rd prophecy of Fatima as the Bishop in white robe – hope it not too hot for him down there.
You see the Catholic Church has a lot more to lose than the SPC – it has been trying and even begging to visit Moscow, but the Russians are against it until it has fulfilled a few conditions and one of those is to spit on the Croat Ustashi. If this Pope does not do it then the next one will certainly do that as you see there are going to be more Moslems in Italy than Catholics in the next 20 to 30 years and the Catholic Church either bends or it will break.

Bravo to the SPC. The Pope is not welcome on Serbian soil, especially after having such nice words for Ustashe clergy in his beloved Croatia.
Tadic, are you watching? This is how you deal with unfriendly countries, you tell them to shove off and show them the middle finger, which is what you should be doing to Germany, France, the UK, and the US. They may respect you more. Kissing the backside of imperialists is no way to live, nor is it the way Serbs behave. The SPC is holding that tradition.
Cheers!

This is a problem for the Eu-Serbia policy and the "famous candidate status " if i were in Tadic i will make a phone call to the Patriarch ...BELIEVE IT OR NOT but the Vatican count..we all know that, so if you are hostile to the Pope you will pay for this i can tell you...
