Just goes to show how little you know.

Why don't you tell all this to a Russian, Greek or a Coptic and see what they tell you.
Orthodox religion doesn't have a central hirachy like the Catholic one does.
We don't have a Pope. We are all looking after our own. I suspect you might know this already but just want to come out looking like a fool.

Those sites belong to the Serbian Orthodox Church not the orthodox church. Orthodox Churches are linked to the nation. So those churches belonge to the Serbian Orthodox Church. There are no orthodox churches in Kosovo and Metohija beside Serbian.
(Nenad, 3 July 2011 02:34)

I think we are saying the same thing. Several faith-based organisations own property in Kosovo (the Roman Catholic Church, the Serb Orthodox Church, etc...). Not sure what the big fuss is about that. Happens in all countries of the world.

Also, while it is true that no centralized Orthodox Church exists, nothing prevents a, say, Japonese, to become a follower of the Serb, Russia, Greek, or Albanian, etc... Orthodox Church.

Those churches don't belong to "orthodox kosovars" (the way you sometimes call the Serbs) nor to orthodox Albanians because they don't even live in Kosovo but in southern Albania and in part of northern Albanian city of Skadar.
(Nenad, 3 July 2011 02:34)

We are again saying the same thing. Those sites belong to the owners as recorded in the land registry (which I think is the Serb Orthodox Church). Agan nothing extraordinary about that. I happens all around the world where faith-based organizations based in one country own properties in other countries.

You are very well familiar with these facts but you just want to steal Serbian history cause you don't have your own.
(Nenad, 3 July 2011 02:34)

I don't want to steal anything because I don't care :) about any type of faith-based stuff. It does not affect my day-to-day life. That's why I'm saying for the 4th time, not sure what the fuss is about.

When those churches were built there were no Albanian presence in Kosovo at all. Albanians came in Kosovo in 16 th century and started coming more during the Great Serbian migration led by Arsenije Carnojevic. Albanians came into present day territory of Pristina in 16 th century.
(Nenad, 3 July 2011 02:34)

Oh again with this stuff... Yeah, let's assume you are correct. And, then what ?!!! What matters is who lives today in Kosovo, not who lived 1000 or 10000 years ago. Otherwise Berlusconi would claim half of Europe, Middle East and North Africa :). Come on man, get a life in the present and look to the future and stop dreaming about myths of the past (be those true or not).

Just stop with the lies!!
(Nenad, 3 July 2011 02:34)

What lies I have to stop with ? I think I agreed with you on everything !

We know our history and Albanians or foreigners are not the one who should teach us our own history!!

Eventually the Kosovo Albanians will go back to where they came from and Serbs will regain control of Kosovo by peaceful means (because the Kosovo Albanian masters have abandoned them, as expected).
(Milan, 1 July 2011 20:48)

So, I’m assuming that by “peaceful means” you are referring to the fact that the majority of the population in Kosovo will accept Serbia’s control because they will see that being under Serbia is a better life than being independent. I’d fully agree with that, if that’s what the majority of the population in Kosovo wishes.

We don't need approval by Ahtisaari nor Albanians that these sites are ours, i.e. Serbian.
(Nenad, 2 July 2011 01:04)

Nenad, those sites are not yours or mine… The owner in the land registry is the Orthodox Church, the same way that the catholic churches in Kosovo are owned by the Roman Catholic Church. I’m not sure what the big fuss is here about. Kosovo is not the first country in the world to have faith-based entities (from all faiths) to own property (the same way that, say, the Roman Catholic Church owns the Trinity Church in New York).

And yes, you are correct, the owners of those site as recorded in the land registry do not need approval by Antisaari nor any Albanian, because their property ownership is guaranteed by article 46 of the Kosovo’s Constitution.

This reminds me of Koreans recently claiming that Confucius was actually Korean and not Chinese and Croatians claiming Marco Polo was Croatian.
(Laowai, Chengdu, China, 2 July 2011 05:39)

Disagree because Croatians and Koreans have a lot of things to be proud of. One Marco Polo or Confucius on the "plus" side won't change that much for the respect they have around the world. Both can easily live without having Marco Polo or Confucius as their kinsmen.

Now about you - you have to be careful in Chengdu, one day someone may claim it was originally Qenxhduku, a provincial city of their once-great Dardanian Empire and lay claim on it. ;-P

Kind of odd empire because not a single building that empire built was ever discovered and not a single name of an emperor can be proven. But regardless of that - in some people's mind that empire not only did exist, it also does and will exist.

Certain things just sound so ludicrous you have to wonder how people can suggest them with a straight face.
Same with Albanians, randomly claiming random non-Albanian people, places and monuments as their own...whatever takes their fancy. It isn't impressive to claim other's history and culture - it's actually cringe inducing.

With Ahtisari plan Kosovo delegation has accepted that orthodox churches in Kosovo are Serbian Orthodox Churches and some of these churches have certain level of exterritorial status, there is no attempt to steal nothing.

We don't need Ahtisaari to interpret on some paper that our heritage is ours. We have historic facts on our side that are well known in the World. We don't need approval by Ahtisaari nor Albanians that these sites are ours, i.e. Serbian. And yes there was attempt of stealing Serbian history couple of years ago when Albanians tried to name our cultural heritage as part of their non existent Albanian cultural heritage in Kosovo and Metohija.

Kosovo's cultural heritage are monument of Bill Clinton in Pristina, monuments dedicated to terrorists from UCK and house of Prizren league and nothing more.

Due to lack of own monuments of historical value, Kosovo simply claims the Serbian orthodox monasteries. For the same reason, some Albanians claim to be descendants of ancient Illyrians, to have at least some history. Both are things any reasonable person simply cannot take seriously.

Milan

pre 12 godina

The Kosovo Albanians are busy creating their own heritage by building lots of Middle East-inspired and financed houses of Islamic worship. The big difference is that in a 100 or a 1000 years the Serbs will never claim them to be part of the Serbian heritage of Kosovo (if they will actually last that long anyway and this is not because the Serbs will go on an Albanian-style pogrom, but because the buildings were built by shady contractors (who are only interested to make some quick big money) or because the Kosovo Albanians cannot find the money to maintain the oversupply of mosques and the sugar daddies from the Middle East will cut support or they have run out of oil $$$). Eventually the Kosovo Albanians will go back to where they came from and Serbs will regain control of Kosovo by peaceful means (because the Kosovo Albanian masters have abandoned them, as expected).

'Kosovan' heritage is a meaningless concept. While the Serbian history and culture is clearly defined and distict, clearly to be seen in Kosovo where it still hasnt been destoryed by albanian thugs. While Serbian culture is rich the albanian culture is unclear and poor. The only thing that rings a bell when one mentions kosovo albanian people is crime, whether it be terrorism, robbery, murder, rape, drug or human trafficking, the sex trade... the list goes on.

The west is pushing for this because they know that while Kosovo remains to be the centre of Serbian culture this comes into direct conflict with the disgraceful concept of an independent Kosovo, people will ask themselves, if Kosovo is the cultural heart of Serbia, then why is it separate from Serbia??? There we have it, no matter how much the West wants to rob Kosovo of its Serbian heritage, it will remain no matter what.

Please photos, highlighting the details. I requested that few times - not a single picture was posted.
C'mon - you have digital cameras, go, take pictures and post here. And explain why these monuments have anything to do with Albanians.

To my knowledge, it takes some time and even more money to build an elaborate church or monastery. Please name a single Albanian ruler in the 5th - 14th century in the area who was mighty and wealthy enough to build such buildings.

To help you: the first known Albanian family who accumulated wealth and was sponsoring art, science and engaged in benevolent activities was the Muzaka family. You can see their churches and frescoes in Kastoria, Greece. That is about a day and half lazy drive from Prizren or Pec or Gracanica.

I have no problems if you declare the churches built by Muzaka family as Albanian heritage. But for Kosovo you need some harder proof than mental excrements of an ex-Hungarian never-be-French little Bonaparte clown.

I know what Szemi, Leonidas and Rote want to say about Sarko and Dohány Street. I am sorry, yes, you are right. These are the people Ari Gold or myself are ashamed of. It is right that Serbia continually re-emphasises the temporary nature of the imposed solution on Kosovo. This is an uncomfortable creation. The mixed nature of the Balkan ethnicities is something that needs to be accepted at the ground level and within cultures. There can be no happy mix of ethnicities in a creation that was solely motivated by Albanian ambition for Kosovo to be an Albanian state.

That said, the role of religion in dividing societies is something that should not be acceptable. The cultural heritage associated with churches does not belong to Serbia as of right - not all Serbs are orthodox. Neither does it belong to the Albanian creation. Churches belong to those who hold to ancient beliefs. Speaking as an atheist I do not see the point in those beliefs however - except in as far as there is a respect for the traditions and beliefs of others and in so far as those traditions and beliefs are held with mutual respect for each other.

In other words, stop using the church and the mosque as a basis of division. It is time to grow up and leave those pathetic prejudices behind.

Now about you - you have to be careful in Chengdu, one day someone may claim it was originally Qenxhduku, a provincial city of their once-great Dardanian Empire and lay claim on it. ;-P

And yes, you are correct, the owners of those site as recorded in the land registry do not need approval by Antisaari nor any Albanian, because their property ownership is guaranteed by article 46 of the Kosovo’s Constitution.

icj1

Oh again with this stuff... Yeah, let's assume you are correct. And, then what ?!!! What matters is who lives today in Kosovo, not who lived 1000 or 10000 years ago. Now as far as the deluded Illyrian flock is concerned the world has stopped searching to find any evidence because simply there isn't any. There are two Illyrian or Thracian inscriptions surviving to date with one being totally blank and the other reading in Greek when turned upside down.

I think Albanians should look closer to Ali Pasha of Tepelena to find their ancestors.

The French Government is so pathetic and lives in a belief that their very being is important to the world and they see themselves far above their actual status in life. Stooping so low as to try and steal another nation’s culture.
If you think that the west has sunk to a new low, there is more to come.

Instead of posting one pathetic comments after an other the Albanians are welcome to prove that they have anything older in Kosovo than Sinan Pasa mosque in Prizren.

Go on, now you have my mandate to curse the villains of Dohány Street, some are also villains of Wall Street, too. In these moments I have strong mood to convert to Orthodoxy. I did not, only crossed myself right-to-left and cleaned up my workplace, all dirty keyboards including. May the dirt I removed be on Sárközi.

They are all Kosovar monuments.

If not, we must tear them apart so that you can re-build them in proper Serbia.

Not really. The albanians accepted the Ahtisari plan which give the Serbian church substancial control over its churches and monasteries. No cookie for you.

With Ahtisari plan Kosovo delegation has accepted that orthodox churches in Kosovo are Serbian Orthodox Churches and some of these churches have certain level of exterritorial status, there is no attempt to steal nothing.
This is only Vuk's attempt to exagerate things in order to falsly prove where is he spending Serbian taxpayers money.

I would happily show you some ancient Serb heritage in Krajina, the Sv Spas church in the village of Cetina in Dalmatia to be precise, a Serbian Orthodox Church dating back about 700 years. I would show you, but judging by many of your comments im guessing that you are a Croat, so im a bit concerned that you might murder me when you dont like what you see.

And here we are, the proud Balkan people, constantly being divided by the West. When will we learn? It is this constant division that keeps us backwards and underdeveloped. And then they sit in their chairs laughing at how we poke each other in the eye.

I would secretly cut the incoming wires from Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian seat and re-wire everything to Albanians.

So if Selim Hadzispahic pushes the red knob to punish Ivo Dalmatinac - Mehmet Berisha yells out loudly in pain. And of course if Mehemt Berisha wants to punish anyone, he just gets back the current.

Sounds like just solution for me.

Well, the only excuse I have to these (and the likes of Trotsky, Béla Kun, etc.) is that Arkan, Малюта Скуратов (the executor of Ivan the Terrible) and Sztójay Döme (Димитрије Стојаковић) were Orthodox and Giorgio Basta was a Catholic. Since I mentioned Béla Kun and Trotsky, time for me to clean more keyboards and also the bathroom/toilet downstairs.

Due to lack of own monuments of historical value, Kosovo simply claims the Serbian orthodox monasteries. For the same reason, some Albanians claim to be descendants of ancient Illyrians, to have at least some history. Both are things any reasonable person simply cannot take seriously.

Nenad

pre 12 godina

Kosovo's cultural heritage are monument of Bill Clinton in Pristina, monuments dedicated to terrorists from UCK and house of Prizren league and nothing more.

pre 12 godina

This reminds me of Koreans recently claiming that Confucius was actually Korean and not Chinese and Croatians claiming Marco Polo was Croatian.
