Hi Leonidas, you know what? You are absolutely right, the Greeks invented democracy (im not referring to the Anglo-American bastardization)and i believe they are re-inventing it right now. If you people could come out of 400 years of Turkish occupation with your culture, music and whatever Greeks are made of ,intact, you will come out of this too but im confident this time you will burn down the Bastille and the rest of us will join you in the festivities. No Pasaran!

How about the parlament introducing a "Greece at work" plan, that will force a new work culture, mentality and discipline. How about making the work week 44 or 48 hours mandatory, and invest in logistics so they decrease the massive tax evasion that Greeks have enjoyed for so long. The truth is that the work culture in Greece is a discrase to the notion of work itself.

Drachma is just another Greek-style protectionist idea based on lazyness, and is focued in lowering the cost of production through protectionist monetary policy, rather than focusing in increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the workforce. Greeks want to be a developed country but produce goods and compete with an underdevelop one. Although they enjoy relatively high income compared to other developed EU countries, Greece has a much less qualified and productive workforce to compete with other developed EU countries.

The Tadic government and all the other EU wannabes in the Balkans should take note of the Greek crisis and soul search whether EU membership is all that it is cracked out to be.

The Greek parliament should vote on the new austerity plan today and on a draft law on its implementation tomorrow.

One thing the cheerleaders of the austerity measures (massive job cuts) do not understand is that they will cripple the economy in the short and long term meaning that any extra cash will go to fund the exorbidant debt payments instead of investments that will result in any growth. So when the money runs out again, they'll be even further in debt and have even less ability to pay it back. The purpose of those austerity measures is to please the EU catrel of bankers and moneymen at the expense of the population.

Greece has two choices, either to screw its own population for the next fifty years and pay back this debt to the banks or just screw over the banks and default.By defaulting the next obvious step will be exiting the eurozone and introducing its own currency. It will be a very difficult start but the country could return to growth in relative short period of time.

But in order to have a new start Greece needs to get rid off the cabal of politicians and business people who wrecked the country with their actions.
