EU has no new conditions, foreign minister says

One more "diplomatic victory" for Jeremic.

''After the meeting, Jeremić told reporters that Serbia would never recognize Kosovo and added that the foreign policy priority would be regional cooperation.

"When it comes to recognizing Kosovo by Serbia today, tomorrow, or in three months' time, in a year, or a century from today, my position remains the same," said Serbia's foreign minister.''


I guess that you are to young Jeremic to know that you should not use the word ''never''. That is irresponsible. Regional cooperation means that you have to recognize the other side you are cooperating with. We both know that recognizing Kosovo is a condition for serbia to enter EU. You have 8 years to do that!!

FM Vuk Jeremić says he did not hear from EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule that a new condition for EU accession was to recognize Kosovo as independent.

Nope there is no new condition.But there is a very old condition"GOOD NEIGHBORLY RELATIONS".Nobody cares if you don't recognize Kosovo,but you won't be allowed to obstacle Kosovo's membership in the UN and other international organizations.Serbia is beeing hostile to Albanian population in Kosovo for a long time while portraying itself as a country that meets the criterias to be a EU member.

Read clearly the title of this article and pay attention to the word "new".

Since Cyprus & Turkey have entered the EU there are nothing than issues between this 2 countries and the EU wants NOT to repeat this same "mistake".

This makes that it is already an "old" requirement to enter the EU and that is that you have no issue whatsoever with your neighbours.

Seems that Jeremic was sleeping yesterday when the Germans said in the middle of Belgrade that Serbia has to recognize Kosovo if it wants to join European Union.

The bar has been set, Vuk - Serbia becomes a eu candidate before the end of this year or your government is out on its ass next year. I am willing to bet the eu will even deny that essentially meaningless title to Serbia. We all know how they are - when they were losing their air war in 1999, they switched to destroying civilian targets in Beograd and the rest of Serbia. They call everyone else war criminals when they themselves are the worst war criminals. Don't forget, Vuk, america invented and used nuclear weapons and no american was sent to the hague for that or anything else. You know that the eu will demand recognition of kosovo at the last minute before even thinking about admitting Serbia to the eu.
As for you, don't worry. Due to your persistent (and weak) efforts, I'm sure the opposition government will find some post in the MFA for you. Maybe they will make you the new ambassador to america.

In difference from Jeremic I diden't use the word 'never'. I just doubt that serbs will be an majority in Kosovo one day so Kosovo will stay indpendent because of the will of the majority population :)

It is irresponsible to say ''we will never recognize Kosovo'' since all serbs,albanians and europeans know that Serbia will enter the EU when it recognizes Kosovo. Not because EU or somebody else will force Serbia but Serbia it self will come to terms that it is the best way to show it's european values. This is somthing China dosen't have but hopefully Serbia does. Do not compare Kosovo with Hong Kong as many serbs do when they are pushed against the wall.

Serbia will recognize Kosovo since it cannot enter the EU without recognizing it's neighbours(Also Bosnia). And we all know that Kosovo will not be ruled by Belgrade or be under serbian sovregnity since Kosovo have it's own goverment,institutions and security structures. Things have changed!!


Saying ''Kosovo is Serbia'' everyday and every night will not make it true. The reality is different from your fairytales Mr!!

Irrespective if Serbia enters the EU or not, recognition of Kosovo will never happen by a Serbian Govt regardless of whose in power. To think the poorest region (Kosovo) in Europe will only get poorer and will join big brother in total isolation from rest of the world. Sad indictment on the Albanian mentality which has ensured this people is socio economically on the brink of extinction and so far detactched from Europe that it's not funny.
