How many times do you people need to hear that unless you get a YES it's definitely a NO?

OK then, how about you list countries that are saying they are thinking about it? Let's see how many are undecided and are openly telling it and then we can have the argument on your terms.
(Peggy, 24 June 2011 04:43)

One of those countries is Egypt, Sudan, Uganda just to name few that have said they are going to accept. Kosovo needs only 17 countries and Jeremic will not be able to say any longer that half the world has not accepted Kosovo you see how nice it is :) slow and steady wins the race.

With all due and substantial respect, Ambassador Mass, you are engaging in very skilled linguistic gymnastics. The United Nations, through Resolution 1244, holds that Kosovo is a part of Serbia; thus, there is no legitimate territorial dispute: Kosovo is a province of Serbia. Per International Law (assuming that is important to Germany), Serbia will enter the EU, after it meets normal conditions as raised to other countries, with Kosovo as a province of Serbia. I respectfully remind you of the UNSC Resolution 1244 and the fact that the EU does not recognize Kosovo; only a few who choose to ignore 1244. We will never endure amputation from anyone, sir. I assure you if the U.S. was faced with losing one square kilometer through secession, there would be war: kindly study the American Civil War, Mr. Ambassador, to understand what attempted secession means.
(Michael, 24 June 2011 02:09)
Michael, I applaud your passion but it is very much misplaced. Your claims that 1244 guarantees that Kosovo is a province of Serbia has been tried in international court and failed to acknowledge that. The UN itself has declared itself "status neutral" (at Serbia's and Russia's insistence) which means that the official position of the UN is that they neither declare Kosovo an independent republic nor as a province of Serbia.
1244 is a working document for the development of a self governing Kosovo. No where does it say that 1244 must be repealed at any point.
22 of 27 is slightly more than a few. There is no way that Serbia is entering the EU with Kosovo as a province, everyone knows that even if you don't WANT to admit it.
Besides talk with your government and see how much of the work done so far includes anything about Kosovo. If you get an honest answer you will find none of it does. Should Serbia insist on this they would have to start from the beginning of the process, and chances of leaving the starting gate are nil.

Everybody knows that the eu will make that recognition demand at the last minute, so why bother negotiating with them? How many times does someone have to lie to you before you get it through your thick skulls? The eu lies to you, america lies to you, tadic lies to you - they all lie to you. The sad thing is that you Serbs are brainwashed into thinking you need them - the world is much bigger than them - the rest of the world is crushing them. "The European Union cannot be interested in admitting a country that has unresolved territorial issues. Germany has experienced such problems. Therefore we are looking for a practical solution to the benefit of the people of Kosovo," he said.

Very clear, but Serbs think that Serbia is not that country that has an unresolved territorial issue. For the Serbs is "Our southern province of KIM" while 22 members of EU think differently.

Yesterday's article ""Germany will demand that Serbia recognizes Kosovo" created 109 comments so far and this article 6 so far. The Albanian flash commentators must have had a day off yesterday so they could en masse dump their petty comments. Obviously Germany has a more diplomatic ambassador than certain MPs.

of course Serbia is an european nation, not only geographically and historically... there will be nobody who denies that.

but there is a possibility to chose partners globally, no matter where they are located.

so, don´t make the mistake to believe that Serbia hast to join the EU in order to improve...

that´s something a lot of "europeans" still have not grasped. =)

but they will, sooner or later.

Serbia will prevail, there is no doubt about that. the question will be, " is europe going to be on the loser´s side, or on Serbia´s side, when the time has come?"

I am sure they will join the winners.

The Brit

Sorry, "just say no to Europe" is bullshit. Europe is a geographical fact and, plate tectonics working as slowly as they do, is likely to remain so for at least the next million years. Serbia is a European country and Serbs are a European people - the pinheads advocating closer relations with North Korea and "Brother Gadafhi" cannot deny this. "Say no to disadvantageous trucial relations with countries presently demonstrating ill will" may be less catchy but is a far more sustainable position.

To the people of Serbia: Don't trust Europe. They speak with a 1000 voices. They want to bring Serbia to her knees by forcing her to recognize Kosovo, they want the people of Serbia to betray their people in Bosnia and they want us to join NATO. Once we fulfill these demands the Serbian people has not just lost Kosovo but Serbia herself.
Just say no to Europe!

"We have always made it clear that we not insist on a particular type of solution for the Kosovo issue, but on a solution in favor of the people," Maas told Tanjug.
--
Lets hope that is true and everyone works towards a sustainable compromise. We are hearing less and less about the "done deal" now so it seems more people have come to their senses.

More than autonomy, less than independence is self-fulfilling. Ethnic Albanians rule themselves while everyone else lives within the structures of Serbia.
