NATO has admitted to this mistake, but before it did liberal interventionists, "humanitarians" and others were blaming Gaddafi. So many people lie to support these "humanitarian" interventions full throttle.

I am sure in 1979 we had a good chance to destroy NATO. If only Russia had supported Serbs NATO could not escape fatal land operation. Fighting in the deserts of Iraq and Libya or bare mountains of Afghanistan is something different than the mountains of Yugoslavia. By that time the US could afford maximal losses of 1000 men while the Europeans could withstand the loss of only 300 men. Also in the heart of Europe NATO could not afford things they can do on the soil of Islam. The most awful thing happened to NATO when the USSR stopped to exist. NATO has lost it’s best enemy. Miloshevic , Korea , Iran , Iraq , Afghanistan or Libya are very weak explanations for the existence of NATO.
10 years ago the US gave 50% of the budget of NATO while in 2011 this share increased for 75%. Besides to keep up the operation in Tripoli Obama have to violate the Constitution launching the war without the permition of the Congress. The European allies cut their annual military budgets for USD 45 Bln. So they are lacking missiles for Gaddafi. With Obama’s hands tied very likely this war is going to stop when the money are over. And the West will be totally excluded from the peace process. Neither the Colonel no the Al Qaeda will mud themselves by such contacts.

Collateral damage or probably the Libyan government committed genocide on its own people and put the bodies there after the airstrikes to cover up their crimes.
