I'm also wondering what those people in Athens were thinking about. Did they really believe that the party will last forever and that it will not have any repercussions for the following generations if the current one spends by far more that it earns? I will never understand that kind of thinking, no matter if on a scale of a country or a single household.

I hope that our German politicians will not give in. Greece is a bottomless pit and if it means that it damages the EU zone and/or banks, then so be it. Better an end with terror than terror without an end. They have to pay their bills or get stripped.

Hmmm, actually reminds me of another country on the other side of the pond.. Not Canada, Not Mexico, but.... Hint: What country spends more than it earns, throws away fortunes it doesn't have on wars in the middle east and in Bondsteel?

Yes, thats right! Your sugar daddy!

Don't be insulting the Greeks, they have more than Albania and sk "Kosova" ever will have. This is temporary setdowns for them, sure its going to be hard the next 20 years from now, but is Albania going to be a Monte Carlo of the Balkans? Hardly....

Well yeah sure. Albanians don't have a big daddy to bankroll their economy and bail them out with billions like yourselves. If they would have been provided by others as well as Greeks have all their lives, maybe they would have quit the organized crime business and got into the sport of driniking Ouzo, playing buzuki, and belly dancing like yourselves. But since Albanians immigrated to Greece, the productivity of "Greek workforce?" increased by largest margins in history, but I am sure that was cuz greeks worked harder, not because 700K Albanians worked 2-3 jobs.

Of course is the fault of Albanians, as always .... otherwise how are you going to explain to your next generations that you have been building a bail out country for decades, cause you were to lazy to work and pay your dues?

Who knows maybe one day Germany sees the light, and actually let's you earn something on your own.
(Denis, 15 June 2011 23:29)

The problem with Albanians like yourself is that you haven't got a clue of what's happening around the world. You attribute the problems in Greece to artificial reasons(Greek Laziness)instead of looking at the big picture which is the crisis that is afflicting the Euroland.

When Greece entered the Eurozone ten years ago the immediate effects were obvious from the outset. An overvalued euro(the germans priced in the costs of German unification)sent the prices of all goods and services high sky(in some products prices nearly doubled). As Greek products became expensive companies started either re-locating or closing down.Industries like tourism took a hit from a high euro.Unemployment started rising and Greek politicians expanded the public sector employment to deal with it.This strategy also ensured votes for the politicians.A huge public sector led to higher fiscal deficits and contributed proportionally to the situation we are today.

I've said many times before that the European Union was created for the benefit of the likes of Germany,France and not for peripheral countries like Greece,Portugal and Ireland. The much publicised customs union within EU has the effect of destroying the industrial capacity of the small countries because they haven't got the know-how to compete against the industries of the big countries. This is why the small countries applied high tariffs on foreign imports(protect industry and employment).

I am glad the youth of Greece are demonstrating in the streets and they are sticking two fingers to EU,IMF and the Greek goverment.Instead of being enslaved by debt they should default, exit Eurozone, and adopt the drachma which in few years will revitilise its key industries and make greek products and services more competitive. It's going to be difficult but it's going to be much better than lining the pockets of western speculators for years to come.

Now if you ask me whether Greece will be allowed to default the answer is probably not.The contagion effect will finish the Euro off much quicker than i anticipate.

Apologies, i didn't know you're a German national,i thought you were an Albanian.

Now the IMF/german recipe for Greece is to sink the population further into poverty hence becoming debt slaves until they were sold to the highest bidder for a tiny fraction of their real worth.Because this is not a bail-out of Greece but of it's creditors who refuse to take a haircut and who are exploiting the opportunity to enact a financial takeover of a sovereign nation, asset-stripping it in the process.

I've said it before the Greeks should call the EUs bluff and default and
take their EU Frankenstein creation down.

If Greece had a government with national dignity it would have asked Germany for return of the forced loan when Greece was occupied by nazist Germany and war compensations for the damage caused by Nazist troops. Accumulatively both claims account for over 70 billion euros (more than 20%) of total debt, but the submissive government of Papandreou is not capable of doing it.

Greece is a mess. There is not much what can be saved. Ever since the Fakelakis cheated in the EU, the expenditures where beyond anything what a sane person can understand. They will leave from the parliament at night, or via helicopters or via the underground tunnels that many places of Athens are linked with each other.
