The only problem is that whom Obama would lose to are the same who put the country in the situation where it is now. The other question is that nothing what Obama tried to do "differently" did work out. So at the end it's the same crap. Just the rhetoric is more "high-level".

Despite all the stimuluses you're now $14.3 trillion in debt, and Geithner is raiding every government account he can to keep you under the debt ceiling. Plus, you're running up a trillion plus-dollar deficit for the third straight year, something no country in the history of the world has ever done.
And what do you have to show for it?
A confirmed double-dip in housing,

A rising cost of living,

A renewed jobs market threat, with unemployed Americans taking a record-long amount of time to find work,

And a fresh roll over in bank stocks, with companies like Bank of America giving up every penny of gains they've made in the last two years.

I am afraid it's just all over for the ponzi scheme. You cannot manipulate markets, currencies and statistics for ever.

I fully agree with you. QE2 (quantitative easing 2) as expected didn't help. The overall mood is gloomy like before a big crach ....it could arrive any time. Sometime I am glad I am not a young man anymore, who tries to raise a family.

Regardless of Afganistan Obama will lose anyway because of the economy, which could go into a double dip. People, who are currently suffering are mostly those, who voted for him. What irony of sort!

I wouldn't bet against Obama because he'is now part of the Wall Street establishment.Obama hasn't done anything different than Bush,he just continues the same policies.

"Obama cannot afford to go to the polls next year with the war raging in Afganistan. On the other hand a withdrawals will precipitate chaos and could lead to full on civil war, with the Taliban and other resistance groups gaining power, but regardless, the "blame" for this outcome will be placed in Obama's lap.

The New York Times has reported that the US military is sending 80 counter-intelligence agents to help stem the threat of Taliban infiltration in the Afghan security forces, following a series of shootings of NATO soldiers.

B92

These so-called "intelligence officers " are just a another name for private contractors who one they move in they are a law to themseles, are accountable only to their paymasters, and their crimes are never reported.

I think Obama is in the same situation as Johnson was in Vietnam. When Johnson was asked if the US was withdrawing from Viet Nam he replied , "I'm f'***ed if I do and I'm f***ed if I don't.".
