Serbian president on Kosovo, Mladić arrest

I am not expecting that European Union officials are going to try to convince me to recognize Kosovo independence, Serbian President Boris Tadić told Euronews.

Ahem, J.S, Bondsteel belongs to the USA and is part of NATO, they bombed Serbia. How can they possibly be with Serbia?

LOL, the Serb hater writing to the sworn Serb enemy about truth and justice. What next? Secret files discovered of Hitler writing to Goebbels about world peace?

Anyway, on a much more serious note, Israeli soldiers have fired on Palestinian protesters in Golan. It looks like they've killed at least 12 protesters. This is a horrible crime that will most likely go unpunished.

The ethnic hate, crippled emotions, handicapped morals and biased beliefs presented here are very concrete factors helping anyone to understand why all what happened in the Balkans actually took place.

By all means not a single factor is an endemic one. We've seen all of them in operation elsewhere, too, not only in the Balkans. So the Balkan people should not be seen as some specific population, not in any way.

Similar factor is the denial of events. On any side of conflicts.

The wise (but not faultless) learn from their mistakes, the fools go on repeating them, and usually to their own harm. The very hated, often most hated, individuals among any ethnic group are those who ask their ethnic sisters and brothers to learn from done mistakes.

I see most of the rhetoric here in comments, "views" or "opinions", as example of writers' fear of losing their mind, even identity, in case they would want to learn. I don't say this to accuse, or to prosecute. I say this to remind about what is good for all of us, each and every man, woman and child.

Now we have Mladic in court. It will be great waist of human resources if we don't use this opportunity to study what really happened, and why it happened. Is this too much asked?

We heard how Her Majesty’s English Ambassador to Serbia, Sir Michael Davenport said that discussing the Partition of Kosovo with Albanians is not constructive.

It is not constructive for those who use the Divide and Rule Tactics to have Belgrade and Pristina dialogue go in any direction other than how they prefer it.

A few days after that Colonial Decree was issued by the England’s Ambassador to Serbia, the Albanians said that Partition was unacceptable, because it would distract attention away from the more important technical issues of concern for the People of Kosovo.

We all know that that All Countries, even the Albanians Voted Unanimously at the United Nations General Assembly that the lives of the People of all Races of People in Serbian and in Kosovo should be improved.

It is just not the best time to Discuss the Partition of Kosovo during the Trial of General Ratko Mladic, because of all the accusations of Ethnic Cleansing, even though the war was mainly between Ethnic Serbs.

This is because Partition has suggestions that Different Races want Racial Purity; whereas, the Truth of the Matter is that they just want a workable Compromise Solution.

We know that the Countries of the entire Balkans are Members of the International Criminal Court, and so the ICTY will not be needed in the future for the Territories of the former Yugoslavia.

We all know that there is at least 6% support among the Serbian Voters who would be in favour of holding a Referendum to seek support for the Redrawing of the Borders of Serbia.

The immediate implications are that a Political Party with that Policy will go over the 5% threshold needed to win Seats at the next Serbian Election.

This does not mean that there will be a Majority in Parliament to allow a Bill to hold a Referendum.

Even if there were that Majority in Parliament that would allow the holding of that Referendum, then this would not guarantee that the Referendum would be successful.

What it does show is if a Serbian Political Party were in favour of Redrawing the Borders of Serbia, then perhaps a small Kosovo Albanian Political Party could gain Seats at their next Elections.

Over time, these Political Parties could gain Majorities, but only after NATO have left Kosovo Completely and Permanently, and this will all take time, but this the best way to approach the situation anyway.

It does not matter that Serbia’s next Parliamentary Election is a year away, because the Serbian President Election is two years away.

This is further complicated by the time that is needed until the Kosovo’s next Parliamentary Election.

There are Serbian Politicians who think that if Kosovo becomes Independent, then the Albanians will be able to gain Territory of FYROM, but only if America leaves Kosovo Completely and Permanently.

It should be noted that the Americans understood this perfectly because most of us, and so there is no Secrets that you can keep from those who are more intelligent.

America knows that if Kosovo becomes Independent, then the Albanians will want some of FYROM if the Americans wish to remain invited to stay at Camp Bondsteel.

How fortunate for everyone that the United Nations General Assembly Voted Unanimously that the lives of the People of Serbia and Kosovo should be improved.

This will take Money, and so just keep the Money coming, It could also require that America investigates if Goran Hadzic is a secret Catholic who was working for Pope John Paul the Second and for the Croats to enlarge Croatia and the Holy Roman Empire in Europe.

I am in favour of Partition of 67% of Kosovo with Total Racial Segregation of Albanians and Non-Albanians, but as long as Camp Bondsteel stays with Serbia.

There are of course things that Kosovo Albanians can do in the next year until after the next Serbian Election, and the ICTY can retry some indictees to see if some of them are Innocent, or if some of them are Secret Catholics and Secret Muslim Janissaries who were working for America.

I think that it would be Good, Proper, and Acceptable if Albania were the First Country to Revoke their support for Kosovo Albanian Unilateral Declaration of Independence, and for the Kosovo Albanians to fully Reintegrate with Serbia.

A Scholar and a Historian said that any time is the Right Time to be Wise, and any time is the Right Time to do the Right Thing.

it´s simply irrelevant about what others may convince Mr.Tadic. it doesn´t matter, since Serbia´s constitution is what counts.

Mr.Tadic can think a lot, and he has done much harm to Serbia, but there is nothing in regard to KiM he can do, what could not be annulled right away as soon as he is out of office.

but again, the article, if Tadic really used these words, implies that it is of relevance what Mr.Tadic is convinced of.

that is clearly not the case. he has to obey the constitution. he is the servant of the constitution, one could say.

so, it has absolutely no relevance, if some others, foreigners especially, would "convince" him about anything at all.

seems like either the media or himself made a mistake here. being more accurate is indicated here, no matter who made that mistake.

Serbia does not need the type of person represented by Mladic and never did. Serbia definitely deserves better than that.

It is abundantly obvious why Serbia does not have to be loyal to Mladic - or to his supporters. Their attitude of allowing and supporting illegal war-crimes has back-fired on them. The international community is sick of them and their policies. They will not be allowed to succeed however much they wallow in their own perverted view of the world.

If only 34% supported the arrest of a war criminal - there is something wrong with the 66% who didn't. No wonder the international community has not been very happy with Serbia.

However, the 34% are the ones who are right. And they are Serbs too.

Bob

@Slobodan Maric

The betrayals that hurt Serbia most were home-grown. The propaganda, sanctions, corruption, etc., were all caused by selfish politicians and mafiosi - Serbs stealing from Serbs as well as exploiting wars elsewhere.

If you think that the world is against you - think why. If you support war-criminals who murder innocents then you have to be stopped.

I don't know of any facts that would justify the 41% (or 66%) wanting to stop a war-criminal from facing trial - there is more than sufficient evidence available for it to be obvious to anyone that the Mladic accusations need to be processed by a court. I don't see anything wrong with the Hague either - the judges will do a professional legal job and convict on the evidence only if the evidence is presented.

By the way. I was talking quietly and not shouting - unlike you in your tirade. You have resentments (real or imaged) but those are not a good basis for running a country.

You talk of 'facts'. I think the idea of Serbian victimhood is a nonsense - Serbia does not need to wallow in that anymore. It was a propaganda tool built on an ancient Serbian view of history. It is not true, and its time is done.

If your mother was a victim, I am sorry. However, you state it is an analogy, so I assume that it did not actually happen. Are you really using that as a justification for murdering other innocents?

(Agim Kelmendi, 4 June 2011 12:13)--

I'm really not interested in anything tadic says, but the above line sounds like a bit of a muted threat. "don't expect serbia can start a new conflict..." whereas the blgd regime is actually continuing to perpetuate the conflicts from the 90's, but (supposedly) without arms.

I found a very touching story about one of the survivors from mladic's "brave" strategy: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110604/ap_on_re_us/us_mladic_survivors__stories_bekric

his name is sead bekric, and he was blinded by serb artillery fire, as a teen. fortunately an american woman heard about his plight, and somehow brought him to this country. he's now living in florida, has 2 kids, and is engaged to be married. his is really an amazing and inspiring story. hopefully he -- and many other such survivors -- will be able to go to the hague and testify ag. the mass murderer.

of course it's too little, too late, way too late. but better late than never. the course of justice can be painfully slow indeed, which is why we must always be resolute, redouble our efforts, never give in to the distractions, the historical revisionists, the liars...

and speaking of justice, i am still waiting for an intelligent question/ comment related to the recent war crimes report, Burning Secrets from the Balkans: http://www.bosniaks.net/prilog.php?pid=41966

It's not so difficult to read online, but it is a bit lengthy, hard copy is 23 pages, incl 56 end notes. Basically the report is a kind of historiography of these war crimes, following a chronological path. that means from the first news story way back in may '99, up to the present.

the report is generally divided into 2 separate but related sections, sect 1 -- Trepca; sect 2 -- Mackatica. there is some crossover, in that as reports were surfacing, they sometimes covered one location, sometimes another. but the operations were obviously interrelated and probably involved additional sites in serbia like the Bor facility.

there are numerous sources noted but 2 of the most prominent are the award-winning american radioworks project (2001), which focuses mainly on the specifics of the trepca operation; and natasa kandic's groundbreaking report from late 2004 (on Mackatica), together with follow-up reports and several critical investigations. as a whole, the report mentions dozens of eye-witnesses to the events, as well as some direct participants. the details are VERY specific, which is why it's a report very much worth reading, and carefully.

The other side, of course, is the secondary cover-up, that is, the very intricate cover-up to the entire cover-up operation(s). and that is where you can start to unfold the whole sordid can of worms.

i cannot wait for the day that belgrade's war-crime prosecutor, faced with overwhelming evidence and outside pressure, once again declares: Serbia is ready to face up to its dark past... but he is going to need a nudge or 2 in that direction, that's for sure.

thanks, and thank you to all who have been steadfast in demanding the truth, in demanding justice over the ever-present lies and cover ups.

Now don't you think that $340 billion GDP must account for a lot of oranges, lemons and feta ?If that was the case wouldn't you think all your compatriots would've stayed in Albania and started growing lemon and orange trees instead of staying in greece? What about having the biggest commercial shipping fleet in the world, 30% to be exact, that transports nearly 50% of all EU goods across the globe? What about the millions of tourists that spend their holidays every year in Greece? These are the two biggest earners for the Greek economy and not the products you describe in your jibe.

If Mladic is to have a decent trial, at least a decent Lawyers-team should be financed somehow. It hurts the eye just to look at the comic surrogate lawyer. How come a general, standing in the impressive tradition of Serbian generals, is now left without any help ? Not that he stands any chance of not being convicted, but at least a prominent lawyer could get the Serbian soul of the hook or bring the balance back in the description of the role of Yugoslavia in this civil war. Isn't there somewhere a decent US Miljonaire of Serbian descent, without any sympathy for Mladic deeds, who nevertheless wants to invest in a honorable defense in order to prevent murder on the Serbian heritage?
This competent lawyer might also be more convincing in talking Sebia into the Eu. Radiating respect, that some politicians fail to provide as they seem to lack any decency. Saying he is a Bosnian. It reminds me of the joke about the only diplomatic success of Austria: making the world believe that Hitler was a German.

Goran Jelisic, who killed so many young Bosniaks, at the Brcko Camp, up to 30 before breakfast, had a 40 years sentence.

Mike, all Serbs who are at The Hague had a fair trial.

Goran Jelisic, who killed so many young Bosniaks, at the Brcko Camp, up to 30 before breakfast, had a 40 years sentence.

Dragan Nikolic received a sentence of 23 years for his crime at the Susica Camp, sentence reduced 10 20 in 2005.

Former JNA officer Miroslav Radić, was set free by the Hague court in the Vukovar Three trial.

I really think that most of the Serbs who were sent or went freely to the ICTY received a fair trial and a fair sentence.

And they are Serbs too.

the report is generally divided into 2 separate but related sections, sect 1 -- Trepca; sect 2 -- Mackatica. there is some crossover, in that as reports were surfacing, they sometimes covered one location, sometimes another. but the operations were obviously interrelated and probably involved additional sites in serbia like the Bor facility.

@Slobodan Maric

Are you really using that as a justification for murdering other innocents?

it´s simply irrelevant about what others may convince Mr.Tadic. it doesn´t matter, since Serbia´s constitution is what counts.

Shshsh Leo. Don't bite the hand that's been feeding you for decades. Without the west, Greece will starve to death. Who is going to work and pay for you then, Russia cuz you for sure are not? Without the West, you will be at Turkey's mercy and we all know how that will end. Everything you have, a state, an army, the good and easy life is a gift to you from the west. Yep, you think you got what you have selling feta cheese, or lemon and oranges? Think again Leo.

@Slobodan Maric

The Truth

pre 12 godina

Agim, Kosovo is not Serbia's neighbour, it is occupied territory thanks to Tito, subsequently followed by the slow and painful terror inflicted on the Serbian population. Kosovo was a far better place economically when ruled by Belgrade, the idiots running Kosovo havn't got a clue how to run a country, probably because most of them are ex-criminals and terrorists. Thanks to this so called independent nation, it is now a centre for criminals, be it drug smuggling or human trafficking. Elections are not even fair there, they are a sham. For now Kosovo will be safe while their American babysitters watch over them, but as the USA does with other places, they will one day loose interest in Kosovo, and for once the K Albanians will have to fight for themselves.

Accusations by who? But you shouldn't worry Boris. You are the favourite son of the EU now and part of the family. You have gained their respect. With the arrest of Mladic you stuck one more dagger into Serbia as an independent state. The accusations against Mladic have nothing to do with "crimes against humanity".It's everything to do with the Western geopolitical designs in the balkans.

What next?I think Nato membership will come before Serbia's recognition of the drugs cartel that rule kosovo.Eu membership will take some years,if it ever happens.

@Bob!
It is very easy for you to sit there and shout out your abuse at the 66% my dear Bob. Yes, take away 25% of this figure for the extremist boot boys who have no sense of legal direction and you are left with 41%! These are the rational people who have lived through the lies, the betrayals and the back room deals which have all served to undermine ANY ONE of the legitimate arguments of the Serbian people through the last 20 odd years.

Look at the facts dear Bob. The "facts" that we Serbs have had to live with for over 20 years. The "facts" that blind people like you, with no knowledge of the big picture have been educating us with every day.

An analogy for you Bob: Let someone come into your home (country) and repeatedly rape your mother (all you believe in and love) in front of your eyes, and then you tell me that you would have acted differently to many of the situations and I will call you a bloody liar!

Slobodan, you have to break from the vicious circle. It's been like this for centuries now. Mladic's father, I've heard, that he dad was killed by the Croats in 1943, when he was 2 years old, and, when he became an adult, his objective was to revenge. Now that Mladic has failed in his attempt, who is going to take the sword and continue the war of revenge? A son? a grand son? A great grand son?

Believe me, there is no future when your spirit is turned towwards vengeance and rvenge. Enough of this.

(Bob, 4 June 2011 13:45)

Ok, lets say Winston Churchill was still alive. Go to Britain and have a poll asking how many would extradict him to the Hague on war crimes charges relating to the bombings of Dresden.

Normaly i would never be responding to you Dragan, but you gave me a right good laugh so, why not?

the story behind the picture is kind of funny -- probably no one can tell, but it was taken somewhere in "RS" enroute to belgrade, about 5 or 6 years ago. the photographer is a (Bosnian Serb) female law student, who like so many gals was quite smitten with him. and he speaks fluent serbo-croatian, as i once learned to call it. it seems that nationalist politics do not prevent inter-ethnic emotions and erotic trysts. au contraire... I read so many reports and comments in the last days referring to Tadic's recent statements. Never read such a huge frequency of negative reports regarding the current Serbian president. He actually "demands" to enter EU, not feeling ashamed a little bit that the extradition of the butcher of Srebrenica was not a bonus but a overdue duty. The EU better draws a line now against this kind of behavior.

Olli

Jovan

it´s simply irrelevant about what others may convince Mr.Tadic. it doesn´t matter, since Serbia´s constitution is what counts.

Yet Another J S
