I only have 1 question:

What gives any government the right to tell ME what I can or can not eat, inhale or inject in MY body?

Even Russian experts should know that you cannot compare marijuana to heroin/codein. A more serious problem that should be addressed in Russia are the LEGAL drugs, i.e. vodka, and illegally distilled alcohol. That's why the average life expectancy fell significantly over the last years/decades.

"This propaganda campaign is linked to the huge profits that are estimated at about $800 billion annually," Ivanov said

No matter what someone thinks about marijuana or other drugs, is this guy really that stupid? Seriously, the people who earn big bucks with this stuff do so BECAUSE it is illegal. Why in the world would they use propaganda to kill their cash cow? This guy really is talking BS.

On the other hand though, it is not uncommon for governments to earn indirectly (and sometimes even directly) from the proceeds of illegal activities. The fact that Russia is so quick with shouting foul without a proper explanation is not looking good on them, I would say. What is he trying to protect?
