Bingo Zorane. That's exactly it, the yellows doing what their bossses in Washington and Brussels telling them to do. Typical behaviour from a party engineered into power by Michael Polt. Never mind the consumers in Serbia.
Lenard, I find it interesting that you come on here every day and spit on Serbia and tell us how great croatia is. If that is the case, then why waste your time on a Serbian website?
Get a life dude. I spend zero time on croat websites, because I would frankly rather watch grass grow . Oh, and don't forget to watch Nole win the French Open this weekend, and listen to Boze Pravde with the Serbian flag flying high above Paris again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfkW_uv5-qc&feature=related
Cheers!

Yeah Lenard, "millionaires"... in dinars. If you were any good at math (or reading for that matter), you would know the farmers actually receive around 20,000 dollars for 100 hectares. Under this new "brilliant arrangement" they would get a measly 6,000 dollars maximum.

Way to undermine the agricultural industry DS, it's only the most profitable part of Serbia's economy...

And holidays in Croatia? Hahaha, no one dares go to Croatia for a vacation unless they have some damn good car insurance!

BELGRADE -- The government believes that meeting farmers' demands would "seriously jeopardize the agricultural budget and the long-term supply of meat and milk".

Looks like scare tactics to me where the government is attempting to get the everyday consumer on its side by suggesting milk and food prices would be affected.

So what is the alternative? Government drops the subsidies, food prices increase as now it's more expensive to produce, cheaper imports come in from the EU, farmers are forced to sell their land, in come the tycoons to steal it at rock-bottom prices, Serbia joins the EU and they get the EU subsidies instead.

Sounds like another sell-out to me.

I think the farmers are justified to protest as they have been undermined for far too long. Nothing to do with jeoperdising the budget and more to do how to juggle a few figures around.

Lenard

He has a point look at the math 100 hectares 14,000 per hectare comes to 1,400,000 the farmers will be millionaires every year. Those farmers will be spending their time in cafe ,bars and on holidays in beautiful Croatia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BleRkHnFdlQ&feature=fvw . The government is trying to find the most realistic solution for agricultural subsidies, but without jeopardizing the supply of basic food stuffs to the domestic market milk and bread. Now do you See the government point of view thats why you elect them to do the thinking for you now who is smart.
