Locals in the village of Lazarevo are preparing a petition asking for the village, or "at least" the street where Mladić hid, to be named after him.

Didn't they decide to rename it Milosevicville or was that Belgrade that was supposed to take on that name? It's very disgraceful to name ones town after a genocidal war criminal who murdered thousands of civilians.

CG yes the Sarajevo manouvre was very effective and skillful wasn't it?

Not only did Mladic and company manage to take Sarajevo, but they also managed to only kill only men from the military in Sarajevo.

There must be a place at the General Patton Academy for the special module of liquidating people in built up areas.

On a less slavish note, I know for a fact that General Mile Novakovic's operation in Croatia was brought up as an example at West Point.

Very easy, rename it on the next session of the city council from "Lazarevo" into "Mladicevo" and build a General Ratko Mladic memorial centre!
Not only that Ratko Mladic saved Serbs in Bosnia, but his genial military campaigns and strategies put him right next to Hannibal,Alexander the Great or even Napoleon Bonaparte...
I am convinced that his strategies used for example in the breakthrough in the "Operation Corridor" will be taught in a few decades in Sandhurst and West Point military academies!

This is the problem with the collapse of former Jugoslavija. People who find themselves 'stuck' in the wrong republic are resentful of the place they have moved to.

They need to get a grip, they live in Serbia, not Republika Srpska or Bosnia and have at least some responsiblity to the country you choose to live in.

On the one hand they were (allegedly) not happy with Jugoslavija and on the other they are not happy in Serbia.

Of course in the old days most of them were all members of the communist party, just like Ratko Mladic himself who admitted this was true.

Schizophrenic political beliefs...

The villagers all claim that police "secretly sneaked Mladic into the village from somewhere, and then 'arrested' him there".

Of course, and only to shed a bad light on the peaceful inhabitants of that beautiful village. Serbs seem to be susceptible for any kind of conspiracy theory, may it be as absurd as this one.

"Considering, however, that the whole village knew Mladic's relatives lived there, the locals are now curious to know why police never once searched the house while Mladic was a fugitive for 16 years."

That's a good question, I wonder about that, too. His relatives would be the first place I would search if I would be a leading police officer searching for a criminal.
