Disappearances number in the thousands, millions live in exile and afraid to return home where death squads-trained by the US army, in much the same way that similar squads in Colombia and Honduras are trained and armed- roam the streets and countryside at night. Tens of thousands of Iraqis are still detained without charge on suspicion of disaffection.
