Clear victory for Dodik and RS.
The EU went to Banja Luka (not Sarajevo) and dealt directly with the RS, and its agenda, as a separate legal entity. If the RS can establish that, which they have done, they have their independence w/i Bosnia. The RS will get much more from the west (just to keep Bosnia together) as an independent entity in Bosnia than being completely independent. The west has given up on Bosnia, and Dodik knows it, and is masterful tactician and strategist. The west's only policy goal in Bosnia is to keep it together. And, Dodik will oblige as long as he/ the RS is given what it wants - political and financial independence w/i Bosnia.
And, the RS always have the referendum card to play at a future date. He pulled out the refurendum card, showed Inzko was irrelevant and the EU came a runnin - to Banja Luka. It did not summon Dodik to Sarajevo. The RS/Dodik got what they wanted, and now he is playing the role of stabilizer and coddler to the west (no referendum on separation), knowing the Croats and Bosnjaks in the federation cannot agree on anything, leading to instability in the federation. It's brilliant, and Dodik knows it. The more autonomy/ independence the RS gets w/i Bosnia, the more the Croats will seek that same type of autonomy/independence w/i the federation.

Come on, did you not read the article?! He said "some new facts surfaced", isn't that not good enough?! Just go along with it, it is called "willing suspension of disbelief" and it happens all the time.
Now they will talk with Catherine Ashton and Fule to establish who is prosecutable by the contested Bosnian courts and who is not in exchange for their quiet. And everybody is happy.

Ah the Lord of the Dance interpreting strategy and coming to a conclusion of 2+2 + 10. No wonder you Albanians are only good for delivering pizzas in the US and being part of the largest criminal element on this planet.
Perhaps it has just passed your meager intellect that Ashton gave Dodik what he wanted and that is why the referendum has been postponed. But maybe this is too far about your head to work this out. You have to remember that you are not in Pristina where the unwashed rabble pretends to rule, but dealing with Serbs.

Obviously, anyone look at this situation at this with even a hint of objectivity will have to realize that this is an absolutely epic back-peddling of policy on the part of Dodik. Then again, this is a man who so frequently changes his mind and his politics that I am sure, to him, it appears the most natural transition.

In any case, as it concerns all of these "it's just a matter of time before RS joins Serbia" predictions I am really not sure what these are grounded in, other than wide-eyed nationalist mythology. We should remind ourselves that the supposed "heart" of Serbia (Kosovo) is now an independent state. Montenegro (a supposed sister country of Serbia) is likewise independent and has recognized the independence of Kosovo--and, moreover, has been quite vocal about critiquing Serbia's irredentist politics. Seems to me, the Great Serbian Unification Project is in pretty dire straits.

And of course, rightly so. The ultra-nationalist/fascist politics Serbia pursued during the 90s were, above all, a failure for Serbs--both within Serbia and without. They became international pariahs, they were reduced to poverty and isolation, and became party to unimaginable crimes against humanity.

Serbia and the Serbian people deserve a better future than what the likes of Dodik and his ilk offer. They are not offering you freedom, they are offering you shovels to dig your own graves: the 90s proved that conclusively.

The RS just suffered a crushing defeat. Dodik backed down just like the schoolyard bully knowing his nose was in danger of being bloodied and the whole world witnessed his standing down.

the internationals have lost significantly in regard to authoritiy and credibility.

now, Dodik can just play the role of a serious and reasonable statesman.

back-pedaling looks different.

What will happen with Bosnia is that the Dayton Agreement will eventually fall apart, NATO's colonisation of the world has now led them into a situation where they have too much to handle, with interference in Libya and perhaps now Syria, NATO will have trouble in managing all of their controlled subjects. When it gets too much for them they will look back at Bosnia and Kosovo and realise that they have to let go, because they will need to invest more time and money into taking control of the Middle East, but also that there will be nothing left for the Balkans to offer them. The Serbian people will take advantage of this and unite their populated lands as they rightfully should, there is no reason why Serbia and Republika Srpska should not join, they are the same country with the same people living there, it is an inevitability.

Its inevitable that the RS will secede in the long run, but its not the right time at the moment, Straight after Kosovo might of been a good time, but they decided to respect international law and didnt secede. If the US and world powers recognise Palestine though in september, it might be a good time, otherwise, a memorable event sometime into the next 10 years would probably do it.

" I am just waiting for the Serbophobe visitors to explain this a being a sign of weakness and bluff. "
(Milan, 22 May 2011 17:32)

It's not a sign of weakness, but a sign of being realistic: Leaving BiH is simply not an option, staying to the Dayton Agreement and pointing out the other party is violating it is smart.
But I cannot understand how this can be seen as a sign of strenght, first to announce a referendum and later to back-pedal after some talks with EU officials.

Milan

The future president of the Republic of Serbia knows how to play his cards wisely. RS does not have to leave BiH. The latter one will either blow itself up and then leaving will be a natural consequence or the Bosnian Muslims and their Western masters will violate Dayton and then RS will be free to go as well. In the long run it will be a win-win situation for RS. All Serbia needs is a patriotic government that stands for the interests of Serbia and its citizens and that looks at the long run. This government can provide the basis and motivation for the unification. I am just waiting for the Serbophobe visitors to explain this a being a sign of weakness and bluff. With developments in the US and The Middle East prospects are getting better.
