Daniel,

It is true that we don't have a truly liberal news organization in Kosovo (yet). However, do you think this is a reason to refrain from commenting on this site?

With all the due respect for B92, a medium that I grew to admire a decade ago, with the transformations of post-Milosevic Serbia, I think their role has been diminished.

The old B92 would have favored a title that goes "President Tadic meets with Serbian children from Kosovo". Because the old B92 was BS-proof and saw through political propaganda.

Sadly, President Tadic, despite his claim that "Kosovo is Serbia" chose to ignore Albanian children of Kosovo, just like he has chosen to ignore their parents every time he has visited "his southern province" or spoke about it.

How about telling their organizers that if the Albanian children can't come, let's postpone this for another day. How about ending the meeting with "next time, bring your Albanian friends with you"? How about rising to the level of not playing politics with children to win some nationalistic credentials and send a message of humanity for once.

I would not expect anything really, but when I am reminded that Tadic is the pro-Euro politician in Serbia, then I hope to see something more than wrapping himself with a Serbian flag and kissing priests' hands whenever he visits Kosovo. It is clear to me whenever he comes that he has no message for us. He is only speaking to the voters in Serbia who want a nationalist in the office. And if the "European politician" has nothing to say to us, then don't blame the liberal Albanian for joining the nationalist one in opting for independence. There is nothing in Belgrade for us (oh maybe when Ceda wins the elections, but then I bet he can't get even B92's vote.)

Out of curiosity and since Albanian recognizes Kosovo's sovereignty how would many folks react if the government of Tirana,Albania organized a similar event where Kosovar-Albanian children or school children were invited to Tirana to receive recognition of Kosovo or something of that nature? In my opinion(though not everyone may agree) but politics is more suited for adults than it is for kids.

Oh what a horrible and disgusting abuse of children for yr own little nationalistic purposes, yr own future(?) re-election, tadic. it doesn't get worse than this.

when i first saw the article, for a tiny fraction of a second, i actualy thought: wow, tadic (the nationalist!) is welcoming a bunch of schoolkids fr kosova -- what a trip. sounds like PR, but who knows? and then, OMG, i had to read the damn article! it wasn't just a group of schoolkids-- it was SERBian schoolkids, that could be so easily used and manipulated for his little nasty purposes. ouch.

i mean we had a visit from the (former) mayor, a very handsome and charismatic guy, and though i'm sure the pR didn't hurt, he didn't even bother to use the visit to the school as a conscious ideological attack on an entire nation! can you imagine. if only he'd been taking lessons from tadic.

this is the belgrade regime: low -- lower -- lowest. with their loyal party media only a few centimeters behind :)

The fact that he has to remind someone in which country they are in speaks volumes. It was all laughs and smiles until the kids returned back and had Kosovo Border Patrol inspect their ID/Passport upon entry and exit from Kosovo. Tadiq I'm pretty sure all those kids are fully aware that their country's name is Kosovo and not Serbia. #justsayin!

Thanks,

Daniel

Don't you Albanians wish you had the same rights of freedom of expression in Kosovo that you have when writing comments in a Serbian News outlet? You are so lucky aren't you. At least you have somewhere you can freely express what's on your mind without worrying about some thug threatening you or your family because you criticized him. I'll thank B-92 and Serbia for you, since you are probably too shy to do it yourselves.

He welcomed them to the capital city with the words, "you are in your own country".

That is right Mr. Tadic. Belgrade is their country.

The Serbian president also told the children to "obey their parents, fulfill their duties and be diligent".

Yes, listen to your parents and obey them how to hate your neighbors, especially Albanians.

"You come from all of our beautiful towns in Kosovo, which we will never relinquish, because Kosovo is the place where our identity was built and I want to thank you for preserving this identity," Tadić said.

Now, this is the funy part Mr. Tadic. I am laughing hard reading this paragraph.
Any other lies to these innocent kids?
