A man accused of attacking a B92 cameraman on assignment has been found guilty and sentenced to ten months under house arrest.

This joke sentence is too light. This is insufficient to provide a strong deterrence for criminal behaviour designed to suppress free information getting to the citizens of Serbia.

When the next journalist is criminally attacked in similar fashion the state should have to prove its determination to preserve press freedom by setting a much higher sentence.

The people of Serbia should insist on this.
