"Actually, they would if they could and that is not what the nationalists want. The nationalists want it to evolve. A vote now will not be for independence, guaranteed.
(Mister, 8 May 2011 22:58)"

If London is as confident as you about the 'no' vote for independence, it would surely have acquiesced to a referendum long ago.

Mister

"Of course you are! Now put your money where your mouth is and reaffirm your support (that you boasted about earlier) for the Scots to hold their independence referendum! And that you will honor whatever they decide! Better still, heap pressure on London to support the democratic will of the Scots!

"his SNP success has been in large part a protest vote. Scotland's natural party of government, Labour (the lot that bombed you), are still being punished for their failure at national level that lost them the general election last year. Normally the Lib Dems, who often do well in Scotland, would raise their share of the vote, but they too are being punished for their coalition with the Conservatives in Westminster. That leaves the SNP to pick up the slack. "

Oh and it was only the current Scottish first minister who was against bombing. Much to the ridicule of the English. Yes? The English politicians were to scared to speak out against it.

"Faced with a referendum on independence, those Scots who haven't yet come down to London to work (just like the Montenegrins in Belgrade) will realise that they;re being offered a second world state of sub-Irish poverty and come begging England for forgiveness. Pity really, it would be fun watching them starve a bit first (unless "RUS" sends them food parcels, haha).
(The Brit, 7 May 2011 12:34)"

Kind of makes me want to vote for independence. I wish I was sitting next to you. Thank goodness most English aren't like you.

This must mean that the scotish people are oppressed and misstreated by the London regime to want independence. Now I know why the albanians and other muslims in Serbia want independence.

All I will say right now is that you were wrong before (about support for SNP) and you can jolly well be wrong again (about independence). Enjoy!

And of course this must apply to the Serbs of Strpce and North Kosovo too, right? Remember, no double standards!

But the reason the SNP won was because the Scottish electorate punished Labour and the Lib-Dems. The Scots can have an independence referendum if they want, they'll vote no independence. Anyway I've already stated that I'll support what the majority of the Scots believe.

But, sure, sure, Kosovo is a case 'sui generis' and of course not a precedence for ethnic minorities and their nationalistic politicians to break away, right? ;-)

I've said before that Scotland is England's Montenegro and the comparisonsjust keep coming. Most English would say "leave now and make sure you shut the door after you", because Scotland has been a drain on our resources for 300 years, but unfortunately it won't happen.

This SNP success has been in large part a protest vote. Faced with a referendum on independence, those Scots who haven't yet come down to London to work (just like the Montenegrins in Belgrade) will realise that they;re being offered a second world state of sub-Irish poverty and come begging England for forgiveness. Pity really, it would be fun watching them starve a bit first (unless "RUS" sends them food parcels, haha).

Alas it isnt a vote for independence. There will be a referendum within 5 years but the SNP victory was based on more power for the Scottish parliament and not a destruction of the Union. The SNP said this to the new generation of SNP voters who wouldn't believe the nonsense of Scotland being able to go it alone.

A Scottish independence referendum won by SNP will not only ensure Scotland's independence from the rest of the UK, it will also ensure the
rest of the uk will be governed by the Conservative party for the foreseeable future.

The SNP have managed to take many Lib-Dem constituencies due to dissatisfaction of the Lib-Dems in Scotland.
