@The Truth Chicago:Even if I didn't follow up on your comments and even if I asked you confusing questions that didn't give you the right to consider my questions to be silly and weird all because that was rudeness on your part.As I previously stated my questions to you stemmed from curiosity so it's not as if I was attempting to argue or debate with you so therefore I didn't appreciate how you treated me or responded to my comments.

Interesting viewpoint!
So you basically say when Serbia defends it`s internationally recognized borders(which include Kosovo) than it is evil and it is fighting for Greater Serbia!
And the Albanian goal of "ethnic Albania" (which includes, like the name says, ethnic cleansing and stealing territory from other states) is justified?

By that standard,192 states in the world are fighting for Greater *******(you name it)!

I think the more you open your mouth here the more you are embarrassing yourself!
Kosovo Albanians are 95% Muslims, they is however a hybrid version of Islamic Albanian extremism which goes together with Albanian nationalism intermixed...
And as for Albanians being friends of Americans, yes they are, just like the Pakistanis who "didn`t know" that Bin Laden was living 200m away from the Pakistani version of the West Point military faculty...

BTW I am proud of my grandfather being in the Chetniks, what was he supposed to do,let himself being killed by your Albanian grandfather who propbably killed civilians while he was serving in the SS Skenderbeg division?

I wasn't attempting to argue with you and you have the nerve to say my question is weird and perhaps silly. I'm sorry The Truth Chicago but you were rude to me!

First, if you want to quote me, then quote actual statements that i've made. I never wrote that "and can be uncomfortable with discussions regarding religion,". That statement is your opinion and not mine. I have never met an Albanian that is "uncomfortable" with "discussions" about their religion. I did however write an entire paragraph discussing Albanians and their culture and religion a few threads down. Im not sure where you're going with your question regarding gift giving on Eid and purchasing gifts for Christmas because I think its a silly question to have if you didnt gain any insight after reading my opinion on Albanians and how they view religion. I'll simplify my write up if it was too complicated. Albanians are for peace. Albanians are Albanian first and foremost. They have their own culture, way of life and customs and religions. If someone wants to give an Albanian catholic a gift..they can do so. If someone thats not Muslim wants to wish and Albanian Muslim happy Eid they can do so. Weird question on your part.

You're missing my whole point. CG (whos grandfather was a Chetnik in WWII) and several others on this board like to cast Albanians as "islamic terrorists" which is rediculous. They say this stuff to get support from whoever. 30% of Albanians are Christian. Those Christians fought the Serbs in Kosovo. The war was never about Islam or Christianity. It was about land. It was about Serbs hating Albanians whether they were Muslim or Christian. Just look at all the wars Serbia started and listen to the reasons for the wars. Serbia conveniently uses whatever it can to justify war. They said they fought the Bosnian "muslims", but didnt say the war against Croatia was a war against the "catholics". They said the war against the Albanians was against the "muslims", but 30% are Christianwho also fought them. Do you get the picture? Serbia just says whatever they want to drum up support from their citizens to support their wars of land grabbing and creating a "Greater Serbia". Period.

pre 12 godina

@The Truth Chicago: Since you claim that Albanians are private about religion and can be uncomfortable with discussions regarding religion,my question to you (which stems from curiosity)is if someone wants to purchase gifts for Albanian friends or Albanians who they are at least well acquainted with, would it actually be considered inappropriate to make statements about providing Eid presents for Albanian Muslims and considered inappropriate to make statements about purchasing Christmas presents for Albanian Christians? Like I said my question is stemming from curiosity.

You wrote "Your unserious attempt to compromise Serbs and to take the heat away from Albanian muslim terrorism is not going to pay off!". Im sorry to tell you that there isn't any such thing as Albanian "Muslim extremism". I know this is very difficult subject matter for you to understand, but Albanians aren't really interested in creating and living in an extremist religious culture. Far from it buddy. If anything, the Albanians were even more resistant to the extremist Muslim appeal than the Bosnians had been. This was a predictable outcome, in that Albanians, with an isolated culture, a language without close relatives, and a tradition of avoiding religious differences in the interest of national unity, are generally wary of outsiders. Although the Albanians are 70 percent Muslim(30 percent Christian), they never warmed to Turkish occupation--as the Bosnians did. Also unlike the Bosnians, they never saw Titoite socialism as anything other than a form of Slavic imperialism.

For these reasons, Arab and other mujahidin were unwelcome in Kosovo during the 1998-99 struggle conducted by the Kosovo Liberation Army, which was organized on an ethnic and patriotic basis, enlisting Catholics and atheists no less than Muslims. Reports that Iranians or Arabs had been detected in Kosovo during the war were pure disinformation and speculation. Albanians will not allow foreigners of any kind to tell us our customs must be abandoned and our behavior determined by Islamic totalitarians. We have our own history, our own culture, and our own Albanian model of Islam, based on interfaith respect and the understanding that religion is private. In addition, Albanians are probably the most grateful people in the world for the exercise of American military power, which rescued them in Kosovo. Muslim extremists say we must only love Allah, not each other. Why, then, we ask, did Allah create in us the capacity to love each other? The Albanian project will always be based on interfaith harmony. We are not like other cultures, for whom Islam was their only defining characteristic. We refuse to be defined as Muslims first.

1. Serbs have actively sheltered wanted terrorists! For years, the Serbian dominated Belgrade government supported and trained PLO terrorists. Immediately after the murder of Leon Klinghoffer aboard the Achille Lauro in 1985, the terrorist mastermind Abu Abbas was welcomed in Belgrade. Since the late 1980′s, Abu-Nidal has maintained a large terrorist infrastructure in Yugoslavia, in coordination with Libyan, Iraqi, and Yugoslav intelligence services. During the 1991 Persian Gulf War, as Iraqi missiles landed in Israel, Belgrade supported its ally Iraq. They support Libya. As I've said for years, Serbia is highly anti-western and is always working against the west and western interests. There is no room for Serbia in modern Europe. Go to North Korea....You share a lot in common with their mentality.

First of all, most of the stuff you just said is baloney, and even if it were right:
Serbia was part of Yugoslavia where the Croat Tito was in power and there where more Bosniaks and even Kosovo Albanians in the KPJ politburo than Serbs! How can you blame Serbs for that while at the same time we were denied to controll all of our territory, yet alone create foreign policy?
As for Libya,Serbia DOES NOT support Libya,we are neutral and will go with the winner!

Your unserious attempt to compromitt Serbs and to take the heat away from Albanian muslim terrorism is not going to pay off!

There is absolutely no alliance between fundamentalist Islamic organizations and the Albanian people. All the gossips around this topics are based on ridiculous grounds.

Albania was among the first countries to participate in the Afganistan and Iraq military operations and its military troops engaged in fighting Bin Laden forces since 2003.

The opposite is true, Russia (Serbia's historical ally), has continuously supported extremists both by providing military logistics and international support.

Unfortunately as in many other fields, public belief in Serbia is guided by mythologies and a disconnection from reality. Thats the main reason they are always creating conflicts, because they mistakenly believe their neighbors are evil.

Muslim Albanian cells organize and recruit their personnel on their own, start the attacks(Fort Dix bombing,Frankfurt attack, church burning etc.) and then later get praise from Al Zawahiri and Bin Laden...

I love how the anti-Serbs gloat about Mladic, first of all:

Mladic has won big symphathies within the US establishment(as the man who knows how to deal with extermist Muslims in their perception)even if they don`t admit it,and that is why they are not interested in him.
When did the US mention Mladic last time?

Second, according to rumours he is dead for some years ago and is now in Serbian heaven together with Karadjordje ,Milos Obilic,Gavrilo Princip and all the other heroes and smiling down at us.

Better be prepared for Haradinaj and Taci getting a bullet in their heads,we have the capability to go after these war criminals in a Mossad style operation.
Serbian special troops are among the best trained in the world!

Osama Bin Laden, a staunch friend and ally to the albanians gets killed by the US, another so called "friend" and ally.

This must be a very sad day for all the Kosovo albanians.
Or at the very least, conflicting and confusing.

Does this mean that the albanians will not longer be singing songs praising their hero Osama Bin Laden?

Or will their be more albanian terrorists killing US soldiers?

He is definitively protected by Serbian authorities. The navy seals should get him one day. The world would see that all successive Serbian governments were lying for so long. What would be the EU's reaction?

Agreed on that. According to Washington Post, Team 6 of the Navy Seals carried out the operation. This is the counter-terrorist elite team within the Navy Seals. These are the same who captured Goran Jelisić, Simo Zaric, Milan Simic and Miroslav Tadic in Bosnia (according to Wikipedia) after Hague orders. Don't mess with the best. (KU, 2 May 2011 18:30)

Entirely off-topic, but interesting if true. Makes me wonder why a similar operation wasn't carried out in order to nab Karadzic and Mladic. Mladic could have been out of reach during that period -- hiding in Topcider or someplace -- but Karadzic? Was he possibly hands-off? It's been said that the deal he supposedly cut with Holbrooke in 1996 was scuppered in 2000 when US intelligence determined that he was meddling in Republika Srpska elections. So his "immunity" would have been off the table after that but perhaps US military forces had mostly withdrawn from the NATO force in BiH, or Karadzic had become roomates with his buddy Mladic in an underground bunker in FRY? Maybe someday we'll know, when the US government files from that period become de-classified.

(Ataman, 2 May 2011 19:32)

Conspiracy theories? Has anybody seen OBL in flesh since he was last treated in the American Hospital in Dubai in July 2001? Apart from the fake videotapes purporting to come from OBL we have no evidence he was alive. There were even some statements from Pakistani ,Afgani politicians and even the FBI saying that he was dead.

As far as iam concerned OBL was a CIA created asset and was used by the neocons in order to prosecute the wars in Iraq and Afganistan. The US,despite their public announcements, were neither interested in capturing OBL and put him on trial nor killing him because such an action would've render naked their reasoning for going to war in Iraq ans Afganistan.

The question then arising is why has the US decided now to announce his death? As i said on my previous posting Obama has already announced the date of withdrawal from Afganistan-August 2011-can now claim to have “finished the job” in Afghanistan, just as he promised to do when elected and mark my words the Obama camp will ride on "OBL's death" ticket when election comes.

The events of that day brought a cloud of fear into our politics, our markets, and our lives that has diminished what America means for all of us. I hope we can wake up tomorrow with a renewed sense of shared values and confidence that we can make it through any crisis as a stronger nation. Now its time to smoke out the other criminals out of their caves like internationaly wanted Ratko Mladic for his war crimes! God bless America and God bless Albanians everywhere!

LOL - I don't think Pope would be executed tough... he would probably commit suicide while confessing to be a U.K. spy. The entire Osama story reminds me of Mehmet Shehu. Who of course committed suicide after Comrade Enver Hoxha cornered him and proved, that SOB was a spy for England.

As much as I am unsure about "suicide" of Mehmet Shehu, so I am unsure that Osama died the way Obama tells us.

But hey - in politics you chose the lesser evil. As I wrote, Obama is much better than "Sara Palinkovac" and other "tea party" queens + kings. Now their hope of 2012 election is practically dead and buried, so...

I was more worried about the born-again neo-Christian neo-conservative nuts than personal fate of Osama. He deserved to be killed by either Russians or Americans, to bad - he can be killed only once. This does not do any justice for innocent people already killed, be them army recruits, civilians or 9/11 victims. And to bad, he can't stand a public trial because only that would make justice. And after that being a girlfriend of a brutal dude in the jail for the rest of his life.

I am sure proof will eventually surface in the form of pictures. It is probably too soon to release (or leak) any as retaliations are expected. The reason given for the burial at sea is that it would be difficult to find a country willing to accept the remains. Unsaid is that a burial at sea precludes a grave from becoming a shrine.

What great news! Finally after nearly 10 years - nearly 20 if we factor in the first World Trade Center bombing - this mass murder had met his deserved end. Not just for those who were killed on 9/11, but all those people around the world, particularly Muslims, that were killed in dozens of suicide bombings, market bombings, and "collatoral" casualties in the name of this maniac and his ideology. This certainly won't "end" the War on Terror, and in some cases bin Laden was already an irrevelant player, but this is the most significant accomplishment the United States has made since the conflict began.

What exactly is the importance of Bin Laden and Al Qaeda? He was no more than a figurehead or a 9/11 bogeyman created by the boys in Langley and whose importance was exaggerated as a justification for middle east imperial adventures.Just to remind you in September 16, 2001 Bin Laden denied any involvement with the attacks by reading a statement which was broadcast by Al Jazeera : "I stress that I have not carried out this act, which appears to have been carried out by individuals with their own motivation." This denial was broadcast on U.S. news networks and worldwide.'If OBL has now been killed, it would of course prevent him 'letting the cat out of the bag' in a trial. Like the 'patsy' Lee Harvey Oswald, he had to be silenced.

Bin Ladens death will not have any effect on Al Qaeda world-wide operations.Al-Qaeda is not just one group being run out of the caves of Pakistan and Afghanistan - it is not homogeneous - it is not a single group at all.Islamist Jihad now has many faces, guises and leaders in the long run this will not make the slightest bit of difference. In Pakistan will the Taliban and other banned groups really care that Bin Laden is dead? Not Likely, and it will certainly not halt their operations in the slightest.

However,OBL's death will give an excuse to Obama and Nato to leave Afganistan under some" peace with honour" BS agreement with the Taliban thus disguising the actual "cut & run".When Rome couldn't collect its taxes from its colonies it run out of money and collapsed. This is what we're witnessing today with the US.The country is broke.

Funny comment, in 1986, if Bin Laden came to Albania he would be executed for trying to '' spread emperialistic propaganda among Albanian proletariat'' ...basicly, islam, christianity, capitalism, russo-bulgarian revisionists, fascists, vatican, saudi arabia, israel etc were considered as emperialists and consequently as enemies of the state and the Albanian people, even if pope himself dared to enter Albania, he would be arrested and executed even if that ment that half of world countries would declare war to Albania...believe me, talibans would wet their pence if they messed with the Albanian Sigurimi...and i m not proud of our way of performing communism...but still, it sounds funny, Bin Laden in Albania in 1986...that year Sigurimi was on alert more than ever.

Plus, I have to smile at *how* this happened. Not a rocket attack, not a drone attack, but good old fashioned Navy Seal combat where he dies by being shot in the head. Say what you want about the operation, but it was pretty badass :)

Period.

What great news! Finally after nearly 10 years - nearly 20 if we factor in the first World Trade Center bombing - this mass murder had met his deserved end. Not just for those who were killed on 9/11, but all those people around the world, particularly Muslims, that were killed in dozens of suicide bombings, market bombings, and "collatoral" casualties in the name of this maniac and his ideology. This certainly won't "end" the War on Terror, and in some cases bin Laden was already an irrevelant player, but this is the most significant accomplishment the United States has made since the conflict began.

Plus, I have to smile at *how* this happened. Not a rocket attack, not a drone attack, but good old fashioned Navy Seal combat where he dies by being shot in the head. Say what you want about the operation, but it was pretty badass :)

I agree, however true this story is it will be used to hide and cover up bad news in a number of Western countries whilst people are distracted and the Obama administration will use it to kick start their election campaign. And yes I too have read about the CIA creating fake video tapes. We must not forget that OBL and Al Qaeda were US allies for many years.

Period.

My friend ,this is no Serbian propaganda(unless CNN,NBC,FOX are all Serbian owned),this is reality!
Why are Saudis like crazy building mosques in Kosovo and spreading Wahabism!Because it comes on fertile ground!

What a load of crap! We are suppose to take the word of the United States Government on this without any evidence other then the kind we cannot see? All this sounds very suspicious to me as I am sure it does to mostly everyone! Where is the body!?
(Canadian, 2 May 2011 17:41)

I am sure proof will eventually surface in the form of pictures. It is probably too soon to release (or leak) any as retaliations are expected. The reason given for the burial at sea is that it would be difficult to find a country willing to accept the remains. Unsaid is that a burial at sea precludes a grave from becoming a shrine.

"Plus, I have to smile at *how* this happened. Not a rocket attack, not a drone attack, but good old fashioned Navy Seal combat where he dies by being shot in the head. Say what you want about the operation, but it was pretty badass :)"
(Mike, 2 May 2011 16:22)

Agreed on that. According to Washington Post, Team 6 of the Navy Seals carried out the operation. This is the counter-terrorist elite team within the Navy Seals. These are the same who captured Goran Jelisić, Simo Zaric, Milan Simic and Miroslav Tadic in Bosnia (according to Wikipedia) after Hague orders. Don't mess with the best.

"Serbian heaven" hehe, this is a rare gem. Apparently, heaven too is partitioned into Serbian part and non-Serbian part. Or maybe heaven is all Serbian and everybody else goes to hell. Maybe there is also a Serbian hell and hell too is partitioned into a Serbian part and non Serbian part. Who knows...Some kids are funny these days.
