There is more to the story than they like to tell. China’s economy surpassed Japan in December 2009, but it was only recently announced or 2 years after the fact.

As far as the US is concerned, China was initially overtaking the US in 2030+ however this was revised to 2014 just two years ago and now we have the IMF stating its 2016. Believe me its sooner rather than later and the US needs time to prep its people.

To add more problems on top of exiting ones the US debt will balloon to over 25 trillion by 2014 and that’s on top of any reduction in government expenditure – that’s 3 years away and nothing is going to stop its dramatic and speedy decline on the world stage.

So what if Russia refuses to back a new resolution, UNSCR 1973 is just fine. It pretty much authorises every single attack on Gaddafi forces and Russia and China failed to see this. We don't need a new resolution, the current resolution already legalises our attacks on Gaddafi. Lets just stick to the status quo and continue to bomb pro-Gaddafi forces.

We have the time, money, resources, military and legality/ legitimacy to do so, so lets carry on and smoke him out.

It will be interesting how certain developments will speed up in the next months and years.

There's no more slack left in the rope. The Chinese and the Russian abstention on the UN resolution shows how smart they behaved. What does the west do now? Yet another case of illegal anti-UN action? If they do ignore the UN, will they loose their traditional immunity from prosecution? With all those clever lawyers, expect them to come up with something very, very dirty instead...
