Food for thoughts

Just several things I would like to share:
1. I know the guy, through a close friend, he is a very good professional. Just to give you a hint: these months, the External Service of EU was not very open to Romanians as candidates for various positions in non-EU countries (you know, big countries of EU are trying to secure positions in the Service for their people), therefore the few Romanians admitted are owing this to being better professional than those candidates proposed by other countries.
2. I understand the unfriendly attitude of some Albanians (people associated with the Self-Determination Movement) towards Romanians; I even believe that this may have not-so-much to do with the fact that Romanians seem to be "the perfect scape-goat" to hate by Albanians - being a Christian-Orthodox people, having a long history of friendship with Serbs and Romanian Govt. refusing to recognize Kosovo etc. What I cannot understand is the attitude of Kosovo officials and of the Pristina media. Those are smart guys, and should act wiser, if they want to obtain Bucharest's support. What is the reason to offend a EU country which so far refused to recognize Kosovo? What could be the benefit in having a double standard attitude: American police officers who shoot and killed some violent Kosovo Albanians in March 2004 are "good guys", and Romanian officers who defend themselves and the UN headquarters from violent Kosovo Albanians, using RUBBER BULLETS, couple years later, are "bad guys"?
3. Remember, the tragic loss of life was due to the violence of the crowd, which wanted to attack and burn with Molotovs the headquarters of UN Mission in Kosovo! It is not about some car crash due to a Romanian officer driving with 100 mph full of alcohol, killing poor pedestrians in downtown Pristina!!! Having this in mind, blaming the Romanian Gendarms for acting according to their rules of engagement, approved by UN (as the UN inquiry demonstrated at that time, when Romanian Gendarms remained another month in Kosovo after ending their 6-months contracts, just to be available for UN superiors) will serve only to legitimize the Self-Determination Movement. And having in mind SDM political ideas, I dare to say that this road will bring Kosovo on collision course with EU, sooner or later. And then I wonder who will be to blame then, when Germany, Holland or Austria will step in, like they did when Romanian and Bulgaria were ready to join EU, and Croatia (even more prepared economically) was left behind, only because Zagreb decided that "our" war criminals (e.g. Ante Gotovina) are better that "theirs"...
