Sure, fine, change the rules. The french might as well also tear up all those EC/EU treaties that they fought tooth and nail for. Again, the laughable EU 'rule of law', i.e. do as I say, not as I do. I should add that this demand for a change clearly has nothing to do with up coming elections in France where the National Front and Marine Le Pen are surging ahead (even penetrated La Bretagne for the first time). No major party of a civilized western country would pander to their own bigoted citizens to try and win votes away from their own fascist... No, not in the west, never, Sarko nor Dave.

How many poor and uneducated muslims does Europe have to absorb? Enough is enough. Send these muslims back. They have no valid reason to seek asylum in Europe. If you look at the muslim world there are 100 million people who can't read and write. If the influx continues Europe will be overrun in a matter of years. This needs to stop, NOW! These muslims will never learn to be responsible if they know that they can run away to someone elses land. Keep them in their own lands and let them be adults and take responsibility once and for all.

Too little, too late. The expensive experiment of the EU has failed: Member countries are unable to defend their borders and EU bureaucrats are burying their heads in the sand by refusing to even discuss the problems associated with illegal immigration.Sarkozy's move has everything to do with chasing Le Pen's vote and nothing to do with tackling the problem.
