I agree with you.Assad and Mubarak were the "blue-eyed" boys of the Americans and the Israelis and they've been partners in crime for years.Obama had to say something in order to be seen that he cares about human rights.

The new boss is the same as the old boss maybe a bit more coherent.Substance wise nothing has changed.Still a prisoner of the corporate and military mafia that rules the US.

The US and Israel will do nothing because they are in absolute fear that deposing Assad could bring an even worse menace on Isreal’s doorstep so Obama issues words about respect for human rights etc.
Even though Assad is a nasty piece of work its better the devil they know than the one you don’t. The US has all but delivered Egypt into Iran’s sphere of influence and the Saudis are absolutely furious at the Americans; this comes on top of losing Iraq also to Iran.

Rights groups and activists say at least 75 people were killed in Syria Friday after security forces opened fire on anti-government protesters who rallied across the country.

Any comment from the Arab League which is supporting Syria's candidacy for the UN Human Rights Council?

Assad is a brutal dictator but Obama's posturing will do nothing to help the Arab world.Let the Arabs get on with their revolutions and sink or swim on their own. They are the ones that have to live in the aftermath.
