I don't find Ian's comments offensive, just really stuipd and immature. It is usually the norm here for athiest to express themselves in an ignorant manner. "There is no reply to the ignorant like keeping silence”

Ian, the quality of your comments and contributions to this site is falling by the day. Spread your atheist agenda somewhere else where it may fall on fallow ears. That place is definitely not here.

Moderator, how does a comment with an obvious obscenity qualify to be published? I can read the rules above that state:

"Comments which include insults, indecencies, racial or ethnic hate messages and intolerance of any kind will not be published."

His comment is insulting to the vast majority of people who visit this site that are religious (Orthodox,Catholic,Muslim,Jewish, what have you), it is indecent ("rhymes with duck"), and it is intolerant of differing views that the commenter obviously disagrees with, but so incorrectly enunciates.

If the quality of my comments are deteriorating then how come I keep getting positive ratings? I am not here to spread an "Atheist agenda", my comment was directly related to the subject at hand in the article. I think discussing religion and atheism here is a really appropriate place considering that is the topic of the article.

I wasn't directly insulting anyone, I was attacking a concept which is perfectly acceptable. It wasn't indecent either, I censored the comment myself. It wasn't a hate comment towards any races or ethnicities, neither was it intolerant.

Anyone can find anything insulting. Many people have wrote comments on B92 attacking the UK for it's policy in Libya. I could say I find that insulting, but would I expect their comments to be censored? No I wouldn't, B92 respects freedom of speech. That's why I find it a shame that march has been banned in Madrid.

Arguably I could claim that your comment is insulting because you're advocating religious censorship and as an atheist I find that offensive. However I don't let little things like that get to me unlike you.

I don't agree with Easter and I don't believe in it, however if it brings friends and families together across the world then I can say that is a good thing; for that reason I wish all believers a nice time today with their friends and families.

As an Orthodox Christian, I celebrated Good Friday today, and am celebrating Easter this week-end... but honestly, there's no real legitimate reason for these protesters not to march. This idea that the march would provoke clashes doesn't really have any legitimate founding. A decent police presence which aims to detain those who breach the laws of that country (basically, to detain those who go ahead and act like utter ****heads) should be sufficient, whilst also allowing these protesters to preach their own point-of-view and their right to free speech.

Also, Karanovic, I think you maybe are reacting a bit touchily to Ian's comment. I can't vouch for whether his intention was to offend those of us who are religious or not, but I have many friends who are Atheist, and their attitudes towards religion (which may invoke comments similar to Ian's) are primarily resultant of their opinions on the structure of churches and the broad religion itself, not of those who are actually religious.

uh, ya. The point I'm trying to make is in public forums, you don't get to decide the agenda, it's a public forum, not the Karanovic forum

That's not for you to decide.

...says the Orthodox Church hater. And, by the way, I objected in defense of all religious views that he insulted. I guess he got away with that because he didn't name a specific religion, but the focus of the story was on Christianity, the Catholic brand. Someone with an open mind such as yourself should support that, but I know hate for something can consume a person, even one with such enlightened views on the modern world as yourself. That comment added nothing to the site but hate for a concept that most people follow for some reason or another: religion.
