That works out at about 17% (if you exclude Kosovo), which, if you put it in comparison, is quite good.

USA-17%
Croatia-17%
UK-19%
Greece-21%
Albania-25%
Moldova (poorest country in Europe)-27%
Kosovo-44%
(New Zealander, 22 April 2011 01:04)

So that makes it ok now there there over 1M Serbian's living in poverty? Right? As long as Serbia's poor are just .1% lower than that of Kosovo or Albania, it's perfectly fine? Yeah, like those million hungry souls really care

You want to be a super power, but you cannot even feed your own people. Unbelievable.

To another Albanian Troll, perhaps you might want to think first before posting. Your’e talking about poverty and you live in the US – currently you have nearly 100 million people affected by the GFC and all of them living below the poverty line; you have million homeless or living in shelters operated by charities and you talk about the US being a superpower. What little money the US has is being whizzed up against a Libyan wall.
At least there is truth from some politicians in Serbia whereas in the US poverty does not exist nor do people living in tents or having to eat their only meal from a soup kitchen – you can’t have that in the land of “milk and honey” nor can you show it in the media.
As you live in Chicago, you might want to tell the Serbs the affluence of your fellow Americans in that region. I was there about 3 months ago so no BS please. Or even better you might tell us of living in that Albanian run paradise called Kosovo – this one should be good as everytime I asked this question the answer was always some drivel about breathing the air of freedom and I guess eating fresh air sustains Albanians.

Its articles like this that make me laugh outloud when I think about Serbian trolls extolling the virtues of the "SERBIAN SUPERPOWER".

Poverty is not the prerogative of any nation.Poverty is everywhere. If you're posting from Chicago why don't you take a good look at US and you'll see that you're surrounded by poverty.

4 million foreclosures in 4 years with another 5 million borrowers being behind with their payments up to six months and with loans that exceed the value of the homes they are living in. More than 1.2 million are expected to loose their homes this year.

Why don't you take a look at the 52 million of your fellow citizens that just survive on food coupons? What about the 26 million unemployed ?Serbia over the years has survived good and difficult times and it will survive again.

On the other hand your country, as things stand, will either disintegrate into a civil war or dictatorship. The plans are already in place.

But look at the bright side of it!

IMF are more than happy and so are Soros & shareholders. Post-Argentina, Serbia could be a new role model for "democracy"....

The title says it all “More than 1.3 million Serbian citizens poor” out of a country of 7,306,677! "

Serbia can be said to have lost the middle class category,” stressed Ljajić.

Where does that place all of you Serbian Trolls? You either have rich mommy and daddies or you're poor.
