there it is again, this nervous meddling in internal serbian affairs.

I´d say that these EC-bureaucrats should keep their opinions for themselves. No one is really interested in what they think about democratic elections in Serbia.

and if they think that democratic elections would harm stability and EU-accession, well then, that shows more about their attitude towards democracy, doesn´t it?

Serbia needs a change, and Tadic has lost credibility. One time he could fool the citizens of Serbia, a second time, I don´t think he will succeed.

The 'EC' meddling in Serbia's sovereign affairs yet again. Do you remember the las elections where a series of high profile ministers from EU member states cam to Belgrade to hold hands with Tadic but claimed that they were not trying to influence Serbian elections? The 'EC' I think here means an unofficial message fro, the Council of Ministers (EU foreign policy ministers) who told the Fool to pass the message on to Belgrade.

When will Serbia be allowed to hold free and fair elections without this interference? This delegitimizes Serbian democracy, but don't worry, the EU has the OSCE lapdogs in their pocket to declare any dodgy election 'reasonably free and fair' if the right side wins.

Enough of this corruption from Brussels already! Just STFU and give the european citizens back the money they gave to the thieving, gambling banks and their political supporters rather than giving orders to other countries.

Nobody is telling Serbia what to do, they are simply voicing an opinion. I would imagine any country that has aspirations to join the EU would probably gain some valuable perspective by listening to a range of different opinions. I think the more pressing thing to be rallying against right now is not the opinions of the EU but the actions of a deluded and, in my opinion, extremely damaging so called politician who seems to think that the actions of a narrow minded and frankly childish individual are sending a good message to the outside world. Can you imagine just what impression he is giving? I have read a number of posts from Serbs saying they are embarrased by his actions. If the SNS had any political good sense they would disassociate themselves from Nikolic as soon as possible before he renders them unelectable. Tadic, in my opinion, needs to ignore Nikolic and concentrate on the real issues. He has done well so far under very difficult financial conditions and has to continue until he gets the job done. I live in the UK and have to say that I get the very real impression that there has been a huge shift in perception here towards Serbia in the time that Tadic has been in power. I know Serbia is still in a very difficult economic position but so is the UK and many other countries in the EU too. Things will get better I think. Stability and a resolve to get the job done are very important right now and I think Tadic offers both those qualities. Dont let Nikolic's ridiculous "hunger strike" ruin what has been achieved so far.

The EC is against early elections. I live in the UK and am a positive supporter of the EU and all its stands for in bringing together a divided Europe. But my first reaction to this report if its true is what the hell has Serbian elections and their timing got to do with the European Commission which is made up of unelected representatives from its member states. Let the Serbs decide when to hold their elections. Yes Serbia needs to join the mainstream of Europe, its country has been isolated for too long. This kind of statement only fuels the extremists in society.
