prisoners are on a hunger strike now to get similiar treatment 'deals' as Ceca had. Now that is a good reason to hunger strike. I support them because the changes they want are tangible, realistic and there demands ar enot being met. The election date has already LEGALLY been determined.

It wouldnt, the governments that recognised Kosovo dont have consciousness or feeelings of guilt
(New Zealander, 19 April 2011 04:00)
They would not change their mind you are right. Should anyone feel guilt because someone else voluntarily starved themselves to death?? Pity maybe, guilt never.
If Nikolic went to the point of starving himself to death should Serbia mourn? (I think everyone knows that will not happen) If he had any true goal in this it had to be to shed a few pounds before summer vacation.
I think you missed the point of the comment read it again. It was that there would no longer be any opposition left to an independent Kosovo.

What an attention seeker! Like the post before, he can last a week at least. What a cheap con tantrum to try to save your political agenda. This really takes away from the legitimate hunger strikes like the ones in Ireland in 1981 where 10 people starved themselves to death.
Elections will be called according to the law, not to one politicians wish.

A really good idea would be for all Serbs who insist that Kosovo will forever be a part of Serbia join him in a hunger and water strike until all 75 countries renounce their recognition. I think that would solve the problem for good.

Can everyone just stop going on about how he should last months. Theres a reason why, and I'll explain it. In most hunger strikes only food is not taken, while in Nikolic's case he has refused water as well, 30-40 Hours without water is the normal capacity for a Human.
(New Zealander, 18 April 2011 13:36)
1. Many people undergoing testing for various problems will be expected to not eat or drink for 12 to 24 hours without difficulty.
2. In the absence of fluid intake the kidneys will automatically stop production of urine inorder to preserve fluid levels, unless in adverse conditions (extreme temperatures or physical exercise) the body will protect itself. I do not think lying on a sofa produces either of the adverse conditions.
3. A person in very poor health can last 4-5 days without water, a person in reasonably good health up to 20 days.
4. He was taken to the clinic and given medication for his problems, the only medication necessary would be IV therapy, which makes it totally unnecessary to ever drink water.
So the bottom line is that Serbia is in no way going to be free of Nikolic from his hunger strike.
Don't believe me, try it yourself, go 3 days without food and water and see if you end up in the hospital!

so boris tadic and company feel elections now would confirm the countries anti EU attitude ?? wouldnt you want the most current attitudes of the people you serve as the policy you persue ?? this doesnt seem very democratic to me !! or is it a "i know whats best for you" approach ..if so i think mr tadic is selling short the itellegence of the serbian people !!

I thought this story was joke at first. Only 6 hours without food or water and he ends up in a private clinic. What kind of signal does that send to the Serbian people. 1) He's an ego and doesn't care about this people he represents. 2) when he does become ill, he's booked into a private clinic. Whats wrong with the National health service in Serbia. I wish him no ill and hope he recovers soon. But please stop playing politics. Get on with the job of improving the lives of your people instead of trying to boost your own plans to become President.

ya. Like wait for the normal time for them.

This story has got to be aa joke!

Nikolic is an embarrassment to the Serbian people. Besides, it looks as he could lose a few pounds off the bottom of his chin. But who would believe that a person could get sick within a day of commencing a hunger strike.

This story would be too outrageous for the "National Enquirer".

Anyways, i hope that Nikolic enjoyed his 24 hrs of cleansing. I bet he was able to get a big load off, if you know what i mean.

By the way, yesterdays picture of Nikolic laying on a sofa with his blankie was priceless; a real Mona Lisa.

Nice try. But not even close to Seselj's 30 days. I guess splitting from the SRS still wont get you into power. Stop using the SNS as a vehicle to get yourself into power via blackmail.

(HMMMM, 18 April 2011 11:59)

He didnt take water either, and it takes about 30-40 hours to die without liquids, secondly he's 59 and not in great shape.

Hunger strike or no hunger strike. Either way there are not going to be any early elections. The current government could have been much, much more effective, true, but they are no way going to be persuaded to call early elections by this petty act of self serving and sympathy seeking publicity stunt.
Nikolic, if you want sympathy, look it up in the (english) dictionary. You will find it between shit and syphilis.
