"Resolute policy keeps EU from demanding Kosovo recognition"

FM Vuk Jeremić says Serbia's "resolute policy on Kosovo" prevents the possibility of that subject being included on the list of EU accession requirements.

Hence the BG-PS dialogue. Find some middle ground that both sides can (begrudgingly) accept so BG can begin formal ascension talks. Kosovo's got far more immediate problems of optimizing its politcs, economics, and institutions for any consideration of EU membership outside of outright protectorate. BG can't wait that long to bring it in with its own membership.

As you say BG cannot wait, and inorder to get it, they will not have to recognize, but relinquish claims on Kosovo. Once that has been done others will be able to act accordingly without going agianst Serbia. Kosovo will no longer face any resistance.

Top,
You are too smart a person( I think) to even possibly think that all 22 countries that recognize Kosovo are going to say to Serbia come on in with your claims that Kosovo is still your province and not a state as we claim. When it comes down to the wire it will not happen.

why delude yourselves? why accept such self-gratifying propaganda from your politicians?

serbia will never enter the EU with kosovo. It will not happen.

every inch of the way, as the eu drags serbia by the nose into civilization... it already treats and affirms serbia ...as a serbia Without kosovo.

It was always clear from the very beginning that full cooperation with The Hague is essential for a Serbian EU membership. The Netherlands define full cooperation as 'find and extradite Mladic'. It was clear from the very begininng that recognizing Kosovo is NOT required for an EU membership. Would be stupid, anyway, having in mind that 5 EU members didn't recognize Kosovo (and won't do it in the near future).

Why should any of these things change, suddenly?

"More of a status neutral approach, they will not have to call Kosovo a Republic but will be prohibited from calling it a province either."

As pointed out by many here to the Kosovo side, it only takes one to block EU membership, or 1 of 2 to block UN membership.

Serbia will never be required to formally recognize Kosovo for EU membership, only to relinquish any claims on it and agree to not block its membership in the future. More of a status neutral approach, they will not have to call Kosovo a Republic but will be prohibited from calling it a province either.
