Representatives of the five countries in the Western Balkan agreed to ask for more money from the EU preaccession funds (IPA) as they met on Monday in Belgrade.

We didn`t ask for money,Croats did because they ae on the verge of bankrupcy!

Money is good but money is not all this country needs. First of all they need an exact and detailed strategy on how they are to spend this money they are asking for. Then the government should publish on their website where the money is being spend, accounting for every last cent. Also Serbian companies should have preference over foreign companies to carry out the works. Of course they should also mention the companies that will profit from this "donation". The benefactors should supply guarantees that if the work is not carried out properly and on time they will have to pay fines.
I am afraid that if this is not the case too much money will simply disappear with nothing much to show for it.

They're going to beg or a couple of hundred million euros ad will follow attached EU dikats.
Let's see how much Serbia really loses with spineless ruler unwilling to deal th corruption and crime:
- 1 billionby refusing to fire surplus employees in state bureucacy.
- 2 billion by rfusing to fight to decrease the size of the gry market.
- 675 million by refusing to destroy pic manipulation by suprakets.
- 1.2 billion by refusing to allow transparency in public tenders something the've been promising since 2008.
The amounts they let leak thrugh the system exceed ny amount they beg the EU for.

I agree with you about moneys for mafiosi but this was 20 years ago...now it's time that Italy is no more a net beneficiary of Eu money ...instead we are ..payers now we are more keen to whom our moey are spent !! simple...

The EU ushould give as much as it can to the Western Balkans, we have an obligation to do so after all the political upheaval which has happened in this region. However, I do hope that EU standards of managing adn tracking where this money goes will be adopted. The Southern part of Serbia is a region crying out for more money with a well educated population. I just hope if this happens the wrong people will get hold of it and channel this into their own pockets.
