"Serbia's EU accession process will depend on the successfulness of combat against corruption, which is why awarding the certificates to the public procurement officers is very encouraging," Degert concluded.

So when Siemens, Alstom, Areva etc. offer big fat bribes for industrial projects Serbia has to reject them and inform Brussels? What if Belgrade is punished for not doing so by Paris and Berlin? Or is there a 'right kind' of bribe and a 'wrong kind' of bribe.

Degert is of course parroting the party line. The EU is a compromise and it always bends the rules if it is important enough. There's plenty of evidence to support this.

Thanks for the update Luigi, that is good news as far as I'm concerned. Lets hope Serbia keeps its sovereignty and never joins the EU.

Eurobarometer is the key ...the numbers of Europeans that are opposing to a "balkan enlargement " has incresead dramatically..now only 1 on 3 is ready to accept a country south from Slovenia...If this trend don't change is futile to dream of any Eu future...Better ask Vladimir Vladimirovich if there is a place in the Russian Federation..
