"Albanians trying to crasp even the smallest sign of hope. It may sound odd but the EU recognized Kosovo so that Serbia could move forward. Serbia received white schengen and will shortly be accepted into the family of European nations. That would probably not be possible with a rough and rebellious southern province. Serbia is moving forward, regardless of Kosovo."

No, the EU didn't recognize Kosovo. 22 out of the 27 member states did, 5 did not. But I agree, with Kosovo and the rampant corruption and crime, it would be much harder, if not impossible, for Serbia to make progress to accessing the EU.

Europe, more so then other former Jugoslav states. That doesn't mean that, for example, Croatia and Bosnia are not. They all are but some more then others. Let there be no doubt, the EU won't accept any members that are not able to make a contribution to the European family.

Excellent comment and right on the spot.
These facts might not be publized but certainly are being discussed in the corridors.

Albanians trying to crasp even the smallest sign of hope. It may sound odd but the EU recognized Kosovo so that Serbia could move forward. Serbia received white schengen and will shortly be accepted into the family of European nations. That would probably not be possible with a rough and rebellious southern province. Serbia is moving forward, regardless of Kosovo. Kosovo, however, is unfortunately getting nowhere. Kosovo may have received international recognition from some important countries but that's about it. Nothing more is happening. International recognition will not create jobs and increase investments. International recognition will not guarantee democracy and political freedom.
Regardless of recent history it can't be denied that Serbia is a regional priority for the EU. The EU is affraid that Serbia will turn towards Russia and leave its EU perspective behind. Serbia is strategically important to Europe, more so then other former Jugoslav states. That doesn't mean that, for example, Croatia and Bosnia are not. They all are but some more then others. Let there be no doubt, the EU won't accept any members that are not able to make a contribution to the European family.

Go and see to new EUbarometer poll and don't expect much from Brussels...new all time low for Balkan enlargement ..Croatia drop for first time under 50 % , Serbia,Albania and Kosovo just above Turkey (the last one) with a mere 33% at maximum...only Iceland don't miss the cut with 60 %... EU politician can't turn their face to these numbers...

"Serbia and Portugal, he said, have had very good and dynamic political relations"

They are so good that Portugal has recognized Kosova.

Thanks to Portugal for helping to stabilize the Balkans with this recognisation.
