Serbia "concerned and unhappy" about Libya war

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić said on Tuesday that Serbia is concerned and unhappy over the current <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/world-article.php?yyyy=2011&mm=03&dd=22&nav_id=73359" class="text-link" target= "_blank">situation in Libya</a>.

If you prefer I will make sure not to respond to your posts anymore. The only reason I do it is because sometimes they irritate me a lot when they are based on (usual Serbian) fiction.

Not as much Albanian posts irritate me when they put words in my mouth or any other Serb's mouth.
Trying to twist what we say is not going to make you look intelligent.
Yes, please ignore my posts. I am happy for you to do that.

BTW, I personally don't know any Albanians, but if they are anything like the ones posting here, then I am glad I don't have that irritation in my life.
I am only commenting on the Albanians who are posting here. If you don't want to look bad then stop writing such rubbish and stop being ridiculous.

Again, you Albanians just don't know when to stop putting words in other people's mouth.
I never said you are not entitled to your opinion, but said that you should stop pretending to care about what is good for Serbia.
By all means, express your opinion but be honest about it.

Don't worry about Albanians Peggy (them not knowing when to stop putting words in your mouth). I am sure we do annoy you (for obvious reasons) but not all of us try to put (any) words in your mouth. I think first and foremost you should worry about that (huge) chip that you carry on your shoulder.

Can I start by first of all saying that I absolutely do not condone what Gadaffi is doing to his own people in Libya at present. That having been said I have to say that, to a degree, I can understand what the FM is saying. The UN resolution allows for the set up and enforcement of a no fly zone. On the first day, when no Libyan planes were in the sky, 122 tomohawk missiles were fired. Since then, a further 40 or more missiles have been launched. There are squabbles over who should lead the attacks. NATO is reluctant to take leadership. Obhama took action without first getting the permission of Congress and is now under under pressure in the US to back off. Italy is threatening to withdraw use of its aibases and the Arab League is voicing concerns over the level of military intervention by UN forces. Add to that the fact that civilians are being killed by the air strikes and that the strikes now appear to be a way to support the rebels, which the UN resolution absolutely does not permit and you have a situation that seems to be very badly planned and very hastily carried out. Given the illegal bombing that happened at the hands of the US on Belgrade in the past, you can understand Jeremic's retisence when it comes to this situation. I wish that the forces involved had taken a little more time to consider their strategy and implemented it with a bit more finesse. As it stands, what happens once the bombardment allows the rebels space to attack Tripoli or other government held cities? If civilians are killed in the ensuing war, which inevitably they will be, will the UN turn its weapons on the rebels to protect civilians? I have a bad feeling that despite all the claims of the US and others, this will become a ground troop conflict and will rumble on for some time to come. Lets not forget, Libya is a sovereign state and as such the UN should not be imposing it's will on the people of that state.

I am of the opinion that vast majority of Serbian people would opt for the West, whereas their leadership seams to think differently.

I am of the opinion you are wrong.
Why do you care about what happens to Serbia except to perhaps collapse?
You are anti Serb so please don't pretend you want what is best for Serbia.

Serbs are the only people who should decide what is good for them and they have. This current government doesn't go far enough.

Wrong again Peggy. Serbia has already collapsed, several times in rescent history I might add. And it will continue to do so under people like Tadic, Jeremic, Cvetkovic etc.

I am sorry for "pretending" to want the best for Serbia, but last time I checked this was a forum where Serbs and non-Serbs are allowed to express their opinions. Perhaps you would prefer we (non-Serbs) all agreed with you?

The '99 bombing was as much a result of the police-kla terrorist combat in Kosovo (I suggest in-depth reading about Racak etc) as the 1st World War was a result of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Fyi it took almost 100 years for the West to concede that the Austrohungarian Empire was just looking for a reson for war in the wake of its own desintegration, while Russia was likewise hoping for a conflict that would involve fighting between western European nations, which had nothing to do with the comparatively puny nation of Serbia, whose ethnic national in Bosnia commited an act of rebellion and violence against an occupying monarch parading the streets of his hometown with the sole goal of provoking anger of the local populace. All other "theories" only involved sweeping the obvious reasons under the carpet. Likewise, with Kosovo, the giant military base Bondsteel was built in record time in order to move more US troops from bases in Germany (coinciding with increased investment by Germans in their own military), as well as to use it as a "Balkan Guantanamo", and/or a missile launch pad. And don't even get me started about it being a few dozen kilometers from the American held AMBO pipeline (about to be made operational). The proposed making of the pipeline has been in the media since 1993, while Bush Sr. demanded Milosevic to allow for a US military base to be built in Kosovo back in 1989 - he was declined...and the rest is history. Of course history will remember Gadaffi as the man victimised by his own recurring madness, Milosevic as Hitler incarnate, and Tudjman as a nice guy who was provoked by Milosevic to make 200 000 plus Serbs from Croatia into refugees and more thousands into shallow graves...trust me it all starts getting very ironic and unjust when you actualy go past CNN and BBC reports...and when as a recently-prosperous-European-nation you end up on the receiving end of 15 megatons of depleted uranium just because you held your ground like any self-respecting nation would.

Imagine that, the Americans are bombing yet another country. 3.5 million dead North Vietnamese wasn't enough? As an American citizen and former-US Marine, I believe America's foreign policy is nonsense and self-destructive. Whether or not Kaddafi is good or bad, he is better than Al-Quieda gaining strength in North Africa. Americans elected Obama to fix the economy and create jobs, not go around the world telling other leaders "it's time to go" or "they are on the wrong side of history" or similar gibberish. If another country threatens the US, then self-defense is perfectly legitimate, but only then.
(Vladimir Gagic, 22 March 2011 21:03)
Your post is a bit confusing. For some one who as against US military policy as you seem to be, does not seem logical that you would enlist in the military. The US is an all volunteer military.
However if you are as you say, you are entitled to your opinion, THAT, is one of the freedoms US citizens enjoy thanks to the continued protection of our US forces. And if you had a hand in that, I say thank you.

"Serbia had bitter experience with air attacks in the past"

Vuk neglects to mention the Milosevic regime's aggression in Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Kosovo which led to the air attacks. His comments will be ignored, partly because he is not important, and partly because he is hypocritical.

"Serbia concerned and unhappy about airstrikes...." of course Serbia is. Serbia has had special relationship with Gadafi, Fidel Kastro, Ahmadinaxhani, the President of North Korea....they are all against Kosovo independence...

What is going to happen next after the totalitarian regimes collapse....can you smell the coffee...?

The one thing not threatened in Libya at the moment is its territorial integrity, and, if you look at reports and blogs from the ground, Gadhaffis forces are killing more civilians than the western bombs. The DS are showing their true colours, supporting a dictator.

Yet another wrong step towards the EU Mr Jeremic.

If you prefer I will make sure not to respond to your posts anymore. The only reason I do it is because sometimes they irritate me a lot when they are based on (usual Serbian) fiction.

========================
