By the way as a Islamic Conference member Russia has sent a Chechen battalion to Lebanon where they separate the Jews and the Arabs.

Ruskies got some nerves to talk. What Ruskies did to Grozny when they laid siege was a total destruction.They did not care who they were killing; men,women,children, elderly and even animals(cattle,dogs,cats,etc...).

It appears that Russia is crying over spilt milk. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, with a power of a veto, it could have overridden the resolution imposing No-fly zone mandated by Security Council. Russia expresses its regret due to the Coalitions’ indiscriminate fire though it knew ,before abstaining from vote, that No-fly zone may escalate to ferocious combats with human casualties, infrastructure destructions and razed towns. Russia could have voted against the resolution instead of exercising hypocrisy.

Moscow did the same when NATO bombed Serbia. Did nothing, just talked.

Is that new building for the local Russian government? Does it serve Potemkin-type publicity purposes? How is the rest of the city?

The biggest headache separatists have in Grozny is that their potential supporters are busy on building projects in the city, in Sochi (for the Olympics) and soon for WM-2018 all over Russia... earning decent money.

"Sadly" who is busy working and earns decent money in addition for his family is very difficult to convince about merits of "77 virgins".

This is one of the biggest challenges Doku Umarov does face and that potentially destroys him more than any number of specnaz fighters.

Yes, of course, Grozny is a pretty corrupt place and would I drive to the area I would be stopped by the Chechen roadblocks to pay them bribes because I am not local. The corruption there is much worse than on Balkans. But it's not obligatory to travel there.

BTW: despite the political conflict the nearby Georgia is still a prime tourist destination. I am not afraid to go there any time, but one has watch out for their crazy drivers - on the road they are worse than Albanians or Montenegrins.
