Yes, the hrvatska garda were very brave at the begining of the war. Running all over Europe crying to everyone of how bad the Serbs are. Its not difficult to be tough if you have NATO behind you, just like the croats had during operation "expell all Serbs from their homes". Just like coward albanains in Kosovo: hiding in the mountains and in Albania and having NATO do the fighting. When the fighting was over they emere like rats from their garbage bins.

Lenard - I guess you are ignorant that the Croats initiated the killing in Vukovar because they didn't want peace in a half-Serbian populated city.

It was the Croat Tomislav Mercep who started the torture and killings of Vukovar Serbs with the Croat police and death squads.

I've seen a photo of a small Serbian boy shot by Croat soldiers during their retreat of Vukovar in November 1991.

The Croat soldiers were too scared to face the Serb soldiers but made sure to drag Serbs out of their homes and shoot them before they retreated.

Sorry if I don't feel bad about Croat soldiers getting killed.

The Croat dead were virtually all military and police.

Explain then how Lenard's rant made it through the moderators. Explain how a lot of these posts make it through. I understand these threads get heated but do we really need stuff like this?

In fact as a general observation, I think I speak for a lot of people on both sides of the aisle when I ask that the B92 moderators apply more stringent criteria to what gets posted and what is regarded as irrelevant spam. All too often the comment threads quickly deteriorate into a shouting match between the same old "trolls" that seem more interested in scoring cheap nationalistic points and antagonizing the other side than actually talking about the article in question.

I think better control over what gets posted keeps the site serious and professional. If nationalists want to yell at each other, have them do it on their own forums. I would rather know I can rely on this site for more intelligent debate from people on both sides. And yes, I hold myself to these same strict policies. Feel free to edit anything I say in the future as well. This is your site and you decide what gets posted, but as someone who has commented here for more than 5 years, I respectfully ask you be more meticulous. We really don't need to read half the stuff that gets posted. Most of it is nothing more than immature insults. Comments on the Serbian mirror pale in comparison to the English.

In the end they not only stopped the Serbian advances, but also crippled even in the beginning 1991 all efforts for the Serbs to break to the Adria. In fact, Serbs never won a battle in which two armies faces each other. They were only good in bombing civilians, lightly armed gun men, and even that they only dared when they outnumbered and outgunned the enemy several times. 1995 was the climax when the Croatian Army obliterated the Serbian Army on all front lines. Nothing could stop the Croatian Garde, only their decision to stop, made them stop. And even nowadays, the positions of Croatia to obstruct every attempt of the RS to make an illegal move is the clear sign that Banja Luka knows that they have no chance with they wishes. If they dare to cease the peace treaty of Dayton and try to secede, the entity RS will end to exists. Dodik's big mouth will not make RS independent, but it will keep him in office. That is all what matters to him. And Croatia will keep watchin'...

That's before the war started... croats flushed out tens of thousands of serbian civilians from western slovnia. If you think that the Croats (4,5 million) will ever again fight against 1,5 million Bosnians Serbs while the other 8 million Serbs from Serbia will not intervene militarily you are living in a fictional world.
Even the Bosnian Serbs ,who had 3 times less soldiers and equipment than the Croats and had to fight on top of that the Muslims managed to inflict catastrophic defeats to the Croats in Operation Koridor and Operation Una...
As for Lenard,the best indication what military power Croatia is the fact that they hadn`t been an independent state for an entire millenium while we Serbs were independent in 1878!
And don`t forget that Serbia defeated and conquered Croatia in 1918 and 1945!

Your rabble knifed the Bosniaks at their weakest time during the war in the 1990s, but they turned around and thrashed the living daylights out of your Croatian heroes who went and burned women and children in cellars in central Bosnia – you know the stuff your good at. If the Serbs did not allow your people to cross their territory there would have been 20 000 less today. The Bosniaks were really going to do a job of ridding themselves of the rats they signed up with.
Your great Garda has to first recall the 600 soldiers you have in Afghanistan then invade RS and go back Croatia before Christmas because that mighty Croatian nation closes down its military bases over Christmas new year to save money. Oh is Stipe fit yet to lead those Croatian heros yet into RS?
