Interesting idea. So, if I go and declare the house at the end of the street as 'my property', and none of the owners of the neighbouring houses care about it, the house becomes becomes my property?
(Top, 15 March 2011 12:36)
Not a very good analogy. A better one would be if you claimed the house you live in and have lived in for all your life and have been the one responsible for maintaining it, have paid the bills on it and then someone comes and loads you up on a truck and dumps you in another neighborhood and says if you return you will die, and outside forces have to come in and foricbly remove those who did that and then help you rebuild the house and teach you how to maintain it all the while keeping the Ones who claim to own it away and remove any control they have over the property and the neighbors agree it is your property.
There you have a true analogy.

But if you are asking if a group of Kosovo residents can fly into Slovakia and declare they are taking the land and declaring independence, I doubt anyone will support them. That is the analogy you present.

The EU solved it very tricky, by avoiding any symbols, flags or signs that show a state name. So yes, Serbia isn't represented as a state, neither. On the other hand, Serbia doesn't need to claim that these negotiations between the Belgrade and the Pristina team 'prove' that Serbia is an independent state, because there's no doubt about it.
(Top, 15 March 2011 08:30)

Well but who does serb represent at the dialoug then? A company or a state?

Kosovo gave up their state symbol just as Serbia have done to have this dialoug. This make the two sides equal and no one is bigger than the other. 76 countrys dosent really recognize the borders of Serbia and because of that there is doubt where Serbia is as a country. For those 76 country there is no doubt that Kosovo is a country. And those 76 countrys are important and not Russia,Venezuela, Azerbadjan,Kirgistan etc. This is countrys who by now support Serbia?

"1. How can you say that a majority of UN members do not? You have 75 that say yes about 40 that say no and the rest have not given an official stance. More Serbian manipulation of facts. "

I hope that the talks will not end as the Middle East peace process.

Independant? What a joke. How can Kosovo be independant when it is completely dependant on money from foreigners? And even with all that money, they still can't do anything useful.

The landlocked Serbia really thinks that by pointing to Zimbabwe and Ghadafy as "anti Kosova" they win somehow more points?
Take them and make them yours.

Kosovo disagrees with only 1 of her neighbors, Serbia is against 5 of its neighbors.
Regional stability, Eu standards etc. Anyway Serbs are doing the brave thing of dreaming the future again. Till now with 100% inaccuracy from all the Serb camp. Fact ;)

Blah blah is Cheap.

''The ultimate goal of the Belgrade-Priština dialogue is the status discussion, he said.''

Well you will then have to talk to a wall or the table it self because there will be no ''other side'' to talk about the settled status of Kosovo. The A.Plan was the best compromise that Kosovo could offer Serbia. A good compromise I would say, because after 1998-99 there is no chance for Kosovo and Serbia to in any way be inside the same borders and system. If Montenergro and Serbia dident succeed to live together I doubt very hard that Kosovo would accept living with Serbia.

But I guess this is propaganda made for serbs it self to fool serbian citizens that this dialoug dosent make Serbia recognize Kosovo indirectly as an independent state. With this dialoug Serbia recognizes Kosovo indirectly becaue the Kosovar delegation had the coat of arm of Kosovo printed on their booklet and Serbia knowes very well where Edita Tahiri comes from and who she wrelly represents.

Some reality check:

1. Independent? Some people think so, the majority of the UN memeber states don't.
2. The EU has started the negotiations, and pushed Pristina (and, to some extend, Serbia) to participate
3. The negotiations are status-neutral, it means there's not visible sign that the Kosovo participants are there representing a state.

2. And to a major, major extent Serbia! More so than Pristina. It is SErbia that has said many many times that they will never sit down with Kosovo on an equal level to discuss anything and that status had to be resolved first.
3. As status neutral Kosovo is as an equal neither state nor province.
