Koso, you claim that your language is one of the youngest in Europe, in terms of the "written sense"? That makes no sense what so ever. How can Albanians be "the oldest people on Balkans" according to many of you albanian scholars but be the last people in Europe to have a written language? Either your ancestors were basically too primative to put a language together or you are wrong about when your people arrived to Europe. Either answer is fine with me, I'd probably say both are correct anyhow.

Also, you claim that throughout history your people have been called different names. . I agree with you, firstly your people were called Turks, as Albanians as a people don't have a history of their own. You piggy back of off others and claim it as your own.

Yes, Serbs did arrive in the 6 century, but have plenty evidence of our occupation. Why even the Turks have left evidence of their 600 year, but you Albos don’t even have a cave painting after thousands of years in that area. Oh well, it’s back to the Illyrian theory.

History is important, but the present is even more so. The only way that Kosovars and Serbs are going to get along is if their respective governments reach a suitable compromise - quickly. I think that "selling out" and mutual compromise are 2 totally different things. Hopefully both governments will see it this way too. What's the purpose of continually arguing over "status" if most of the people are living in misery? Both governments have a responsibility to put aside their nationalistic rhetoric and focus on building a better future, instead of debating historical legitimacy. As far as I can see, this debate has not helped in any way. Isn't it time to be more practical?

What is most important is the realization that Kosovo is represented as one of the two sides, hence any toying around by Serbia that it will neither formally nor passively recognize Kosovo can be dispelled there and then. The entity has its voice and, since some critique imposed solutions, the only imposed solution would be something that would go against the wishes of the people of Kosovo.

Because the Albanian language is one of the youngest languages of Europe in terms of first written account.

Just for your information Albanians are listed through history in different names...do a little research.

Hows about we just amuse ourselves and believe that Kosova was Serbian for one moment. Nowhere in International Law or basic human rights does it state that the government has the right to repress and murder its population while guaranteeing their supposed territorial integrity. Whichever way you slice it, the Kosovars had run out of options for solving their dilema peacefully as they had tried and had to fight like any sane, rational human being would do if you were in the same situation.

The fact of the matter is that over 88% of the population is Albanian, thats not going to change. Governments are suppose to carry out the will of the people, not the dictator(Milosevic). The Kosovar Albanians greivances fell on deaf ears. The Kosovar Albanians decided it was time to fight for their freedom.

The problem of Serb mistreatment of their minorities goes back hundreds of years, but its well known by Serbs and the world alike that the Kosovar Albanians most recently got a raw deal when Milsevic stripped Kosova of its autonomy and placed contol of 93% of the people under the 7% Serbs. What followed was sheer madness. The brutal treatment by the Serberians on the Kosovar Albanians was inexcusable, disgraceful, and inhuman. I have pointed out this treatment for many years now but seen my words fall on deaf ears. I hope this is a wake up call to everyone around the world. The sooner the Serbian apartheid country decides to elect normal leaders the sooner we can rid ourselves of this Cancer in the Balkans!

There never was a country or empire called Albania when the Slavs came to the Balkans.

As a historian, how would you explain the fact that Slavs have 10 times the population of others in europe.

As a historian, you totally negate the fact that it was these Turkish Albanians that have been attacking Serbs. All the while Serbia has been focusing and creating a rich culture full of art, science and literature, not to mention today's famous ahtletes.

It is also a fact that the population shift took place after Tito opened the borders and allowed albanians to cross into Kosovo, this was done to weaken the Serbian state. The term "ethnic cleansing" was first used in the modern world to describe the Serbian flight from Kosovo due to intimidation from Albanians. .

One last thing, why does the name "kosova" have no meaning in your language. We all know what KOSOVO means but you Albanians have zero historic significance in Kosovo. There is nothing to tie your people to the Serbian province.

Hello Sir,

You appear to be an 'innocent' teenager brainwashed probably by ignorant nationalist background.

You say that "History tells us that Albanians came to Kosovo as Turkish vassals .Then in World War I & II these same Albanians return to kill Serbians again."

This line of thought makes CREATIVE RATIONAL individuals with decades of work or research in Balkan history think that YOU ARE VERY LIKELY reading your father's books or some kind nationalistic webpages containing fabricated history sponsored by Serbian radicals.

From an International Historian point of view I can say, WITHOUT ANY DOUBT, that Albanians are the oldest nation in Balkans, with over 4,000 yrs of history (well documented)

As per Serbs, they came looking to settle in Balkans just and Indians and Asians and other people were settled in the balkans. Remember if you trace the roots of arrival of various nations in the Balkans you find that Slavs and Roma have similar path of arrival, where they already found Albanians and Greece in these areas.

Kosovo is Albania, but if you look at history you may well find that a part of Bosnia and Croatia, nearly half of Serbia, and most of Montenegro, Macedonia and Greece once was an exclusive region of Albanians.

Please, enlighte yourself with Internatioanal History book of the region NOT with Serbian or Albanian history book, since they both attack each other.

Just for your information Albanians are listed through history in different names...do a little research.

Creative, what a "creative" mind you have. I can tell you without any doubt that Kosovo is Srbija! It's a fact that Albanians arrived with the Turks. May I also point out that at one time the Serbia Empire streched as far as most of Albania, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosna, and even Croatia. . .

Did you get your International Historian degree from Tirana?

There never was a country or empire called Albania when the Slavs came to the Balkans.

As a historian, how would you explain the fact that Slavs have 10 times the population of others in europe.

As a historian, you totally negate the fact that it was these Turkish Albanians that have been attacking Serbs. All the while Serbia has been focusing and creating a rich culture full of art, science and literature, not to mention today's famous ahtletes.

The only contributions from Albania are that of criminal activity and genocide.

If i were you i would get a refund on your diploma as you were clearly ripped off.

I really don't understand why the Kosovo Albanians don't go back to their homeland Albania?

History tells us that Albanians came to Kosovo as Turkish vassals .Then in World War I & II these same Albanians return to kill Serbians again.

Today the whole world gets to watch the Albanians expel Serbians out of Kosovo, but Western media chooses not to report this fact.

The reason today's Kosovo Albanians have a very young population is that they left their parents in Albania and moved to Serbia's province of Kosovo for a better life.

Are not these Kosovo Albanians ashamed to live of Serbia's bloosd and honour for so long?

Why can't these Kosovo Albanians go back home to Albania and make Albania a better place to live, therefore making Serbia a better place to live as well?

I think Mr Stefanoviq is taking this talks a bit different from what we (Kosova) think of it.

Kosova seeks co-operation for his minority, the Serbs, so their life will be easier so that they do not have to life as smugglar in a lawfull territory.

"History tells us that Albanians came to Kosovo as Turkish vassals"

This is where the problem lies. Both sides present history by choosing facts that suit them. RTS has for decades brainwashed Serbs and they are currently suffering from that severely. And the same happens with radical interpretation of history by Albanians.

The truth is a lot closer to the book written by Noel Malcom. Read unbiased history Mr Canadian Serb and you will realise that you are a victim of propaganda.

If talks are really going this smoothly Libya is being sacrificed for the Balkans. It's no coincidence that the UK pulled funding out of Russia's sphere of influence in exchange for Russia keeping quiet at the UN about Libya.
(highduke, 11 March 2011 12:16)

Quite the opposite, actually - UK/Russia relations get ever closer: http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2011/01/15/bp_russia_deal_raises_us_concerns/. It should be no surprise though - we and the Russians fought alongside each other in two world wars (that's "fought and won" rather than "fought and got overrun in three days and had to wait for stronger countries to come and bail us out"). These are the close fraternal ties of victors over fascism.

Anyhow, are you going to have to stop enthusiastically knocking one off over RUS if they betray Brother Gadaffi? Problem, innit?

So if, according to your, albanians settled Kosovo before the serbs how come there is no proof of their existance from back then? Every people makes a mark on the land they settle. There must be some old building or perhaps tools that were used back then. The fact is that there is no such thing. Serbs have their churches and monasteris dating back to the 13th century. That's proof enough of who Kosovo belongs to.

He didn't put that in any of his books but he is cited as such in several books. There are plenty of links on reputable sites on the internet that prove this, and only an idiot would be unable to confirm this fact.

What is most important is the realization that Kosovo is represented as one of the two sides, hence any toying around by Serbia that it will neither formally nor passively recognize Kosovo can be dispelled there and then. The entity has its voice and, since some critique imposed solutions, the only imposed solution would be something that would go against the wishes of the people of Kosovo.

bluetube

pre 13 godina

History is important, but the present is even more so. The only way that Kosovars and Serbs are going to get along is if their respective governments reach a suitable compromise - quickly. I think that "selling out" and mutual compromise are 2 totally different things. Hopefully both governments will see it this way too. What's the purpose of continually arguing over "status" if most of the people are living in misery? Both governments have a responsibility to put aside their nationalistic rhetoric and focus on building a better future, instead of debating historical legitimacy. As far as I can see, this debate has not helped in any way. Isn't it time to be more practical?

Obilic

pre 13 godina
