Powerful earthquake strikes Japan

A powerful earthquake has struck off the northeastern coast of Japan, measured at 8.8 by the US Geological Survey, with several hundred people feared dead.

This has been such an intense day, first learning about this horrible tragedy -- RIP to all of the victims... first the quake, then the tsunami. unbelievable.

then, without pause, warnings about a possible tsunami for N california. for us, it never really materialized, and i work a mile fr the ocean, so we were lucky all the way round. 2 frnds that live a few blocks from the ocean...

we watched the waves today, certainly nothing out of the ordinary, could only imagine what it was like to be on the coast of japan.

there but for the grace of god go we, never could that feel truer than today.

best to all affected, so many "little" tragedies today.
