What I am about to post is not in defense of Putin.
When it comes to the west everything is pure and righteous, but anyone on the opposing side is evil and a criminal – people that believe this are brainwashed from paying too much attention to the media and believing everything they say.
Do you think that Vladimir Putin is the only politician to become wealthy as a result of his office?
Al Gore should have been president of the US and could have brought the country to a standstill demanding that he be inaugurated rather than George Bush. He did not because he knew that a lot of solid gold goodies would come his way if waves were not created and today he is obscenely rich to say the least – in laymen’s terms he was paid off.
Then there is Bill Clinton – well to say he become even wealthier because of some astute investments would be laughable. Then look at Donald Rumsfeld and his association with Halliburton.
Here is how things work in the west. While in office you do not accept any money nor do you put your hand in the till because during your term you will do lots of favors for the Corporations etc and once you retire from public life the solid gold goodies start to arrive either in the form of cheques with 6 figures on them or if they prefer in giving speeches and getting paid to cover up the bad taste of being bought off.
You see Putin spreading Russia’s authority over “weak countries such as Serbia”. What do you think the US is doing in Iraq or Afghanistan and now attempting in Libya – a working holiday perhaps?
Now for foreign politicians that do the US bidding, once they retire they start to get cheques from those Philadelphia Avenue Institutions like the Institute for Promotion of Democracy etc. The more they have done for the US the more gold they get.
What would have been a good idea was to measure Obama’s wealth before becoming President and see it 2 years after retirement from politics.
So you see it’s not as black or white on either side, but increments of shades of grey all round. I respect people having different opinions, but having a blatant one-eyed view of world geopolitics is a worry.

A decent man can find several randomly selected reasons WHY NOT TRUST Mr. Putin, better why panic about Russian PM, unless he clearly answers the following questions bellow.
PUTIN”S PLAGIARISM: Putin’s PhD thesis in economics titled "The Strategic Planning of Regional Resources Under the Formation of Market Relations" was blatant PLAGIARISM. “Strategic Planning and Policy’, written by US professors William King and David Cleland were translated into Russian by a KGB-related institute and 218 pages ‘dissertation’ (six diagrams and tables were also copied) were ready. On 27 June 1997, at the Saint Petersburg Mining Institute Putin successfully defended his Candidate of Science dissertation. When Mr. Clifford G Gaddy, a senior fellow at Brookings Institution, a Washington DC think tank, raised the question of plagiarism Chairman of the committee Mrs. Natalia Pashkevich, accused Gaddy of not reading the dissertation very well. " She praised Mr. Putin for using not only Russian authors.
PUTIN’s HIDDEN WEALTH: Officially, Putin's wealth is limited to approximately Euro 110,000 in bank accounts, a private 77.4 square meters apartment in Saint Petersburg, 260 shares of Bank Saint Petersburg (with a January 2008 market price $6.46 per share[) and two 1960s Volga cars that he inherited from his father. However, his wealth is grossly underreported. Putin's name of course doesn't appear on any shareholders' register. There is a non-transparent scheme of successive ownership of offshore companies and funds. The final ‘destination’ is in Zug, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Vanuatu. Mr. Putin is the beneficiary according to Kremlin ex-insider Stanislav Belkovsky. which controls a 4.5% stake (approx. $13 billion) in Gazprom, 35% (approx. $20 billion) in Surgutneftegaz and 50% in the oil-trading company Gunvor (with Mr. Yumishev, powerful Kremlin living in London who placed him in the high ranks of Jeltsin’s administration).. Gunvor's turnover in 2007 was $60 billion. (very handsome commission from 1.5-4 % guarantees annual income of at least $2 billion). Putin is the ‘czar’ of Russia since he was appointed as boss of FSB in 1998. However, he is not the richest man in Russia.
PUTIN AND RISING COMMODITY PRICES: Well kept secret is that Mr Putin ordered ‘shooting’ at the clouds back in the fall 2009, which triggered unprecedented negative chain of events pauperizing working class and poor of the world. Now, none can predict what could transpire from it!? The rockets were filled by chemicals which disperse / purge clouds. Mr. Putin wanted to impress dignitaries with renewed Russia’s ‘flying to kill’ hardware during military parade. In November 2009 the sky over Moscow was TOTAL BLUE. In summer 2010 THE NATURE strikes back. Not only Moscow region but all central EU Russia was boiling under gigantic static ANTI-CYCLON for 7 weeks in a raw (averaging night temperatures did not drop bellow 32C). As result, the death toll - w/o ‘declared’ war against own population - was 27,000 in Moscow alone- all caused by respiratory complications (but none cares so it went underreported). Harvest was devastated and Mr. Putin issued another order: EMBARGO ON EXPORT OF CERIALS. Fearing notorious Russian oligarchs moves Ukraine immediately joined the club. Wallstreet big banks and hedge funds speculators joined the game and commodities went through the roof on Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Nobody among worldwide most corrupt politicians and tycoons wanted to lose in this new situation, but looked for more lucrative cuts. As result, retail prices for the staples tripled in some regions of the world. Middle East went on the streets against own long time dictators. Crude oil speculators followed the trend. THANK YOU Mr. Putin on triggering this job.
PUTIN”s BORDERLINE PERSONALITY: Many, among normal citizens in many countries world over are disturbed by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's bizarre acts of trying to prove his manliness! That "out to prove I'm a manly badass" type of attitude is just the kind of thing that starts wars, gets people killed, and causes other pointless acts of mindless destruction in the world. However, Russian culture of today does need a public image of hero leader / ‘judo-youngish daddy’ that project naked power & intelligent shrewdness, a person which has his privileged secrets and which knows how to preserve them (for most of Russians that is not a problem). From that mental corner comes most of support for Putin’s rule. Certainly, it does not come from improved standard of living because buying power has increased 1.6 time since 1990 (Where MONEY IS GONE is not a question…when ‘krisha’ /’business protection’/bribe amounts to $300 billion a year in Moscow alone !!!???) So, the world should be vigilant of a man who shirtless dives deep the Baykal lake and pilots SUKOY bomber high…and keep in mind all the time that Mr. Putian via his button Mr. Medvyedev has an authority to NUKE the world IF and WHEN he wishes so…or just to use NUKE /OIL & GAS threats spreading the hegemony over in any mental aspects weak & backwards countries such as Serbia, just because of his ‘borderline’ impulses tell him so.
So, Mr Putin is your turn. Please, give us some explanations & valid answers. If you do we might start TRUSTING you.

I expect the fire response center in Nis to deal with balkans wide forest fires that occur each summer will be put on a formal basis, the airport upgraded and those very nice amphibian Be-40s setting up base there. No doubt there will be other deals. As to spanking, I what our resident albanian agitator does in his own home should be kept strictly private, unless of course some people are willing to give him their visa billing information...
