As for money, if you are a materialist then hold on a few more years and then tell me that China and Russia is poorer than the US.
(bganon, 8 March 2011 11:42)

I don't know what a few more years means to you. Even the most optimistic of wishful thinkers are predicting that it will take at least 40 years before the Chinese economy will overtake the American. And that is based on the past few year's respective growth figures remaining the same for four more decades.

Russia? You can't possibly be serious with that one...

I'm afraid there are a few slight flaws in your comparison. First, China is far from being resource rich, apart from the huge, highly diciplined and low cost human resources they possess. I am also completely at odds with why you would put Serbia in the 'resource rich' category.

Second, the main reason why most post-communist countries and/or transitioning mineral-rich countries have largely failed to develop their economies beyond the benefit of a handful or two of new tycoons and old aparatchiks has little if anything to do with whether or not the ruling party is a member of the Socialist International, but everything to do with the lack of rule of law and a meritocratic state aparatus and bureaucracy. I have both family and friends in fairly high places in Russia. Initially supportive and proud of Putin for reasserting Russia as a key global player, they are increasingly worried about corruption getting out of hand, and a possible collapse should there be less grease from the commodity export to go around. Rembember, if you exclude the value of their oil and gas export, what is left of the Russian economy is less than that of Sweden with 9 million people. I have to give you right about one aspect of not having made a clean break with some of the old Yugoslav socialist economy practises: the perks associated and expected from public employment. Serbia and other countries in the region should get rid of all the flats, vehicles and other spoils showered on high-level public employees. It is also important to get rid of that patron-clientilist culture so common in the Balkans, where employers hand out jobs to nieces and nephews because strengthening family ties is more important than getting the right person for the job. If the economies of the regions are to pick up, they all have to make much better use of the greatest resources they have, their people.

Third, and since I already mentioned Sweden, there is still a third way (and I am not talking about Yugoslavia). Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands (to mention but a few) have for decades proven that you can have it both ways: generous and universal social and welfare benefits, and a thriving and ingenious private sector to develop the economy to pay for it all.

right, now back to bashing gay-bashers!

CG there isn't one party in Serbia that doesn't have former communists among its leaders. In fact today most of the communist party base (workers) support either SRS or SNS.

The similarity you are talking about is the most basic - the communists ruled for a long period and DS have been in power the longest since 2000. Thats hardly scientific.

Anyway I'm still waiting for evidence of your claim of DS' communism.

I'd be happy to compare the quality of life standard of countries that have a traditionally socially democratic system like Sweden (that North Americans would in their ignorant way call socialism) with free market systems such as the US. You will find that people are much happier in systems where corrupt, unrestrained capitalism is regulated.

As for money, if you are a materialist then hold on a few more years and then tell me that China and Russia is poorer than the US.

CG what nonsense. Ljubomir Tadic is known in Serbia for nationalist leanings. They are from a Montenegrin army family, which is ironic considering you were talking about this before as if it was great. I bet that Ljubomir Tadic supports your views on gays! And he is your enemy??? Perhaps you hate Ljubomir Tadic because he was against Djukanovic's criminal regime in Montenegro?

I'm still waiting for you to point out the communism in the Serbian government.

Djilas' father, not that it has anything to do with anything, ended as a dissident and a respected one at that. I bet you've never read any of his writing in criticising Tito the type of socialism in Jugoslavija have you?

Do you ever bother doing more than a quick search of biased sites to find out information?

In twenty year's time, young educated Serbs will find the views expressed by Amphilohije on gays just as mindboggling as most Americans today find the fact that their African American fellow citizens had to wait till the late sixties to enjoy full civil rights, or the Swiss that they didn't consider their women to be good and ready for getting the vote before the early seventies.

If the SPC is to stay relevant for future generations, Amphilohije should preoccupy himself a little bit more with the overwhelming scientific documentation of realities, including the pretty much established percentage of any given ethnic or national population that are bi- or homosexual, and a tad less about the myths of the past.

Homophobes who believe being gay is simply a lifestyle choice are usually so insecure about their own sexual identity that they fail to recognise the gays in their own midst. Or like those preoccupied with other people's sex life, usually because they don't have a satisfactory one of their own...

And who in their right mind would choose to be a gay in the Balkans any way? Its just as absurd as if your average Jovan or Slobodan of North Mitrovica one morning would wake up thinking 'right, I think today I shall call myself Hashim, and drive around the streets with an Albanian flag playing Young GL's Kosova Rap at full blast. Should be great fun!'...

This is completely fabricated and bears no truth... The only "hooligans" causing any kind of trouble were those in the government body, starting with Mr. Dacic and those who issued the directive to him.

I don't condone violence against homosexuals, but I also can never make a sin like that acceptable, it is a disrespect to God and a person's ancestors. Every single one of us is alive because every one of our ancestors from as far back to our Creation, respected the Life God gave us and continued their life by Man and Woman coming together as One and having children.

CG in case you hadn't noticed we are not living in mediaval times.

And your calling Tadic a communist reminds me of myopic republicans calling Obama a communist. Too much Fox rots your brain, or would you care to show where is the communism in Tadic's programme?

Most right wingers seem to be governed more by emotion rather than by using their brains. Now that is a fact much truer than Serbia being ruled by a communist.

We (85%) don't like gays and that's the fact. Actually no one would express anything if they stayed in frame of their "earlier existence" which was more taboo like. We use to make jokes behind their back and this was that and let's say- all.. Now they want to participate in all elements of everyday life- life of the normal (NORMAL) people. They'd like to enjoy "freedom"..

FREEDOM?!

They have freedom!! No one is legally oppress them to stop doing this or go therapy. I think they just want free access to the eyes of our kids and passepartout to radical changes of our society, in their favor.

That's not possible. Not in Serbia.

The rig is already deep., now it will be deeper. The Western anti-phobia "medicaments" are not recommended at all once the gay will be the one who pays the price of the "therapy".

Wake up, this is Serbia!

Live your life, while you have it, however you want in our cultural manners and leave our Church in peace., not to learn what the word (rage) really means on Serbian soil.

Poor souls!

I think today I shall call myself Hashim, and drive around the streets with an Albanian flag playing Young GL's Kosova Rap at full blast. Should be great fun!'...

I think tomorrow you can wake up in a bed with a man of black ancestry snoring behind right to your ear., but that's your life.

Don't tell this our kids and you're in the same physical and mental shape, we don't care.

Is that difficult to do?

It doesn`t matter whether he was later on a dissident or not,the fact is that the forefathers of the DS establishment brought communism to Serbia.
As far as the intellectual capability of leftists is concerned:

Compare the living standard of a resource rich Russia,China,Serbia with the West and the US and you will see that everywhere where leftists take over those countries economies end up being ruined...
A resource rich Russia which has everything from oil,gas etc. cannot feed its people(because a de facto socialist government which imposes all kinds of tariffs, burocracy etc,),that is how "intelligent" leftists are...
No wonder that with such a mentality Serbia(which is a resource rich country) is nothing more than a hole economically speaking!

Ljubomir Tadic (DS) father of Boris Tadic ,memeber of the communist nomenclatura...

Dragan Djilas, mayor of Belgrade (DS) son of famous Milovan Djilas, member of the communist prvoporci(first members of the KPJ)

Fact: The DS is a bad copy of the Communist party of Yugoslavia which wants to end free speech and replace ideology of Yugoslovenianism with the ideology of Europeanism.

Like I said the further right you go the less a person is able to think.
Perhaps you are so far right wing anybody seems like a communist in comparison...
