-- The issue is Kosovo. Not the rest of Serbia, not Macedonia, not Bosnia, not anything else. Pristina can decide to either let northern Kosovo go or accept it with an RS status. There's nothing else it can do. If Presevo were part of Kosovo it would be part of the debate. As it is not, it's as irrelevant as western Macedonia and Republika Srpska. If you want to open the door to other geographic areas, a region-wide conference is needed beyond Belgrade-Pristina talks.

I don't see no reason for Preshevo valley to be inside Serbia if N.mitrovica cannot live inside Kosovo. Or western Macedonia where the populaton is albanian. N.mitrovica is part of Kosovo as much as Preshevo is part of Serbia.

If it isn't bad enough that Washington has helped create this mess, it seems determined to prevent any chance of a historic compromise that would allow Serbia to relinquish the rest of Kosovo and allow the KAs to become a full member of the international community. Really, it is as though the US doesn't actually want Kosovo to progress and gain real statehood.
Anyway, given Dell's inept interference in Pacolli's election the other day, it is probably just as well that he isn't an ambassador to a real country!
