''Where do you get insane ideas from? That is so wrong.
Just because we say Kosovo is Serbia (which is is) doesn't mean we want to kick anyone out.
Please do enlighten us on why you think we embrace that idea. ''

If 20 000 mitrovica serbs can not agree to respond to an International-Albanian authority of Pristina ...what makes you think that 2 million Albanians will respond to an ultimate Serbian authority from Belgrade? Especially after all what happened in 1989 and 1997-9? .. All serbia wants is North of Mitrovica,...practically it is serbian, Albanians couldn't care less about that small part, even if it had all the gold of the world...it is EU that wants Mitrovica to stay inside Kosovo borders...otherwise other hot zones such as preseva, sandjak, RS, Vojvodina, Banat, Western Outlands, Tetovo valley etc would want the same standart... If Serbia, somehow, arranges to anex north mitrovica, Albanians will do nothing to stop it, but you could be sure that albanians will do every thing in their power to take Presevo valley... events which would inspire sandjak as well...i heard their towelhead leader has been really high on drugs lately , sth spicy going on there, and when balkan leaders and clerics are on drugs in the balkans, slavic people, like sheep they are follow the example...brcko north, sandjak south...bye bye RS...

Just because we say Kosovo is Serbia (which is is) doesn't mean we want to kick anyone out.
Please do enlighten us on why you think we embrace that idea.

Also, please stop with the nonsense that unless we are willing to hand Kosovo over to Albanians we are shouting Milosevic's praises. Two are separate issues.

Please don't presume to know what is in my mind.

Ivan,

You have big problems - not knowing Serbian people and history. Fought and won all wars against evils and fashists and whole world admire and rewarded them after both wars WWI and WWII - and still gave chance to live together with Nacists-NDH and different collaborators who waited decades to turn again to same ideology and rethoric.
Please, learn lesson, think before you talk and chose side - maybe time will confirm that you're again on wrong side.

"Serbia has legal title to the land"

sorry, what serbia has, is absolutely no legal authority whatsover of any kind. none.

-------

@ the swiss

the fantasy is over, kosovo declaration of independence was legal.

The Only reason these "talks" are taking place is serbias capitulation at the UN, its official answer to the icj ruling was agreeing to talks with people it has insisted doesnt exist. this is a joint resolution it put forth...kicking and screaming with the EU.

The propaganda spewed by serb leadership, aimed at the serb population changes nothing. you can spend all day listing out what the verdict "really" meant, what the verdict "really" did or didnt say.

Kosovo's independence is legal, and serbia agrees. What is "real" is that it is Serbia and Serbia alone who refuses to challenge it further in any legal forum.

Propaganda is irrelevant.

-----------

As it is, Serbia will shoot itself in the foot by reducing and reinventing dialogue to talks on status...and play dumb as to why the EU will get angered and embarassed And then we can sit back and enjoy a new round of conspiracy theories about how everyone is against serbs.

To all Albanians – what have I been telling you for the last 2 years!!!!!!!!!
The US does NOT call the shots anymore. The EU is tired and has run out of money propping up Kosovo and its mouths to feed. Plus Emperor Putin is maneuvering this from the back rooms – people seem to forget him, but who controls the energy controls everything; why do you think the US went into Iraq?
Watch, pay attention and you just might learn something.

The present situatuion in Kosovo actually serves all sides as well as can be expected.Serbia has legal title to the land which it will never relinquish while the EU is actually paying for the people there in order to keep them pacified.Serbia is not capable of financially supporting 2 million unemployed people in Kosovo.Obviously,Kosovo will never be recognized by China or Russia so no UN seat but at the same time the EU countries felt the need to recognize Kosovo in order to be able to deport the hundreds of thousands of illegal Albanian political asylum seekers in addition to the tens of thousands of Albanian criminals roaming the streets of Western Europe who would claim persecution if repatriated to a Serb controlled Kosovo. For the next 100 years the status quo may be the best option for all interested parties.

lol @ highduke.

you think re-integration is a good idea?

Imagine what that would do to the political landscape of Serbia.

In the 2008 elections, it was pretty much an even split between the radicals and DS, each getting about 1.3 million votes.

Imagine if the Albanians, with their 1.7 million eligible voters, voted in a block?

Albanians could/likely would be, the most influential and important political party in Serbia.

Do you really want Hashim Thaci as Serbia's Prime Minister? How about Finance minister?

You wouldn't be able to change a street sign in Belgrade without there being some sort of debate about more money going to Kosovo.

Ironically, Serbia, with Kosovo included, would no longer be a Serbian state.

This is what people are rooting for (however unintentionally) when they shout "Kosovo je Srbija"

Consider the consequences!

Serbia because it's too humiliating after coming as far as they have and to have to turn back.
(highduke, 26 February 2011 15:37)

As much as am against this illegal UDI as much as I think that it would be the worst for Serbia to have to take care of this black hole and 60% of unemployed people including all sort of trafficking which are day after day poping up in news.
You can't say on one hand that it is a mafia infested place I (which it is) and on the other hand talk about need of reintegration ?? Some contradictions...
If this is your secret wish, then I would love to learn what would you do with this mess, or better say, would you propose Serbian people to pay more tax to support this black hole ?
Reintegration for sake of nationalism has not meaning and would be bound to failure, and again, what would you do with it ?

Albanians secretly know its over. All Thaci can do is lie and hope that Albanians believe it and they will because they're too scared to face the reality of re-integration with Serbia because it's too humiliating after coming as far as they have and to have to turn back.

In recent days I've read a number of comments from non political Kosovo Albanian analysts and most agree that Serbia starts in a stronger position. On the other hand there is agreement by most Kos Albanians that the appointment of Edita Tahiri was a strong move.

But there are many unanswered questions - has Tahiri been mandated with a particular position when status questions come up? If she compromises 'too much' will her compromises be accepted? Somehow I think that she has not been given strict instructions which is good in one way, but bad in another.

I'm sure everybody here would appreciate a few more translated comments from analyst Kosovo Albanians on the subject.

I am highly sceptical about these talks:

Serbia has never been honest and it wont be honest in these talks again.

They are coming to the negotiating table with a very aggressive offensive with the Marty’s document on table and they try to internationalise that nazi pamphlet in highest level.

Serbia is sending as chief negotiator a director of MFA.

Kosova is sending the vice-PM.

It looks to me unequal on all fields.

One should say to EU up to here OK after that no way. Cannot care about your interest with Russia. Enough is enough.
